Having read a few reviews, I felt that it only right to leave mine. I first started renting with Newton Fallowell Retford around 5 years ago. The service was good and I loved the property that I was in. I moved to a different property and I feel the service changed somewhat with the rental team in Retford. Fortunately, I had a good relationship with the landlord who supported us. However, at the end of that tenancy and the beginning of the new tenancy I feel we had challenges. Our bond was withheld, even though my partner is a professional cleaner. I feel this was done because we had raised issues with the state of our new property and it felt like some form off payback. Throughout our 12 months in our latest property, we asked several times for certain repairs to be done, we advised on occupancy that the door frames be painted properly as 1 coat would not be suffice and the frames will only flak or rot, we had issues with a leaking bath that bled through into the kitchen. None of this work was addressed properly until the new rental team were installed, I raised these issues again in August to the new team and they were sorted out quickly and to a standard far higher than on occupancy. On vacating the premises we left the house in a far better condition than when we occupied it. The communication was excellent and this resulted in a happy tennant, a happy landlord and a good review for the new team in place. I feel that the previous team took their eye of the ball and the new team should not be tarred with the same brush. The recent service has been excellent and having been a landlord and a tennant I would be more than happy to recommend them and their support services.

Maisie was our main point of contact and was always available when we needed to speak to her - she also kept me informed with even the smallest of updates. Maisie acted as a go-between when our buyer and his ‘specialist’ local solicitor held up proceedings on a few occasions and we can’t thank her enough for doing so. If Maisie was out of office, Alisha was always available and greeted us warmly, with a lovely smile, on the occasions we went into the office itself. Thank you also to Becky for doing the viewing on our new house and to Fred for getting ours on the market so quickly afterwards. Do not use these 'people'. They believe it acceptable to own multiple houses, pushing those on lower incomes out of the housing market. They provide houses with dangerous fireplaces. They are rude and disrespectful. They failed to do their job removing people from the property leading to the loss of a deposit. Which of course they like because it's more money for them. Marnie is particularly awful deciding to side with the perpetrator of domestic abuse. She has been reported to the police. Excellent news about the renters reform bill. I hope it causes nothing but pain and misery for these disgraceful sacks of shit.

Great experience so far: Most agents will offer you a price that they know is 10% over the price that you will get. They do this to get your business, and to win you by allowing you to see money signs. Often this trap is easy to fall for. Unfortunately, the over inflated price agent locks you in for usually for 12-16 weeks. Sometimes by being overpriced, this ruins the house being on the market in that 12 week lock in period unsold. The house is then seen as a tainted property that’s been listed for a while. Do not fall for the hype of other agents that do this. If you’re being valued by someone, often the highest price comes with additional charges in the contract and a whole range of other issues. Newton Fallowells contract is straightforward, and legit. You can tell the best agents as they understand the area, the market, where house prices are. They will price your house fairly and this will lead to genuine interest compared to all of the 10% overpriced houses that certain local estate agents use the tactics of. Newton Fallowell has been upfront and honest and knowledgeable and this is what is needed in an agent. They have been fair and honest and do understand the market. They have accommodated our needs and produce a better service. The inclusion of floor plans, videos of the property, viewings (with no additional cost) and understanding of the market has been better than our experience with other local agents. When considering other agents locally, don’t fall for the promise of the world, and see the red flags. Choose a sensible and legitimate agent like NF for a guaranteed sensible option. The agents with the highest volume of signs up around the area are not always the best. If they have the most signs up, question if that’s because they’re not selling and it’s because they’ve taken your business to ensure they get the fee at the end of the day by promising the biggest valuation / price. Newton Fallowell sell houses, not dreams and that’s what a reliable agent is good at.
