Rude and pushy

Before we event went to view a house they were listing for sale, the agent was pushing for us to see their mortgage broker. I had to repeat several times that I wasn't interested as I already had everything in place, and they still would not listen and threatened to cancel the viewing if I did not make an appointment. I took the decision out of their hands and told them to go ahead. I would be furious if I was the seller that they were treating potential buyers in this fashion.

We asked several estate agents round to value my late mum's house. Paul Benge was brilliant. The valuation the highest price we were given , it was in the middle but it was realistic and in the end we got 10k more than the asking price. Another estate agent valued it 30k less The office girls were fab and we were kept in touch the whole way through. They service showing people around the house was excellent and we were always kept informed. Abbotts Thoroe Bay were recommended to me by one of mum's friends who also had a really positive experience with them. I would 100% recommend. Thankyou Paul and the team.

Outstanding work by Dionne Smith... Dionne was our broker for our first property. She has dealt with everything for us and helped make things run as smoothly as she could. We've sorted our Mortgage, Home Insurance, Contents Insurance and Income Protection Through Dionne and everything has been faultless. On the day of exchange our solicitors let us down with issues, Dionne took the matter into her hands to make sure the exchanged happened on time! I cannot thank her enough for all of her hard work on our case. I was really skeptical about using a broker to start with, but have to say, it is the best decision we made! My experience with Abbotts has been consistently miserable: 1. I wanted to arrange a viewing (to buy) at a property in Girton and was told that I would have to wait 3 weeks as the tenants were away. When I arrived at the appointment I found that the property had been sold during that time! 2. Before looking for properties to buy, we let a property through Abbotts. They initially quoted fees of over £600 to photocopy a tenancy agreement, more than double of any of their competitors. When challenged they reduced the fees to £300, still more than their competitors. I hate to think that people actually fall for this. 3. As a part of the fees we paid for a moving in inventory. We were pressed to sign a document saying that we had seen this and agreed to it. When I asked to see it I was given an OLD inventory and finally the agent confessed to having forgeten to arrange it! By this point we were already moved in so the subsequent inventory was redundant, leaving both the landlord and us exposed. Abbotts, in my opinion, are an unpleasant combination of greedy and incompetent. I will not view any properties that they advertise and I make my feeling known to everyone I know. This industry needs an overhaul.

Nightmare, they drove my solicitor mad and when he refused to take their incessant calls anymore, they rang me "daily!” All they seem to be interested in is getting their percentage and fees. On the other hand if you want something from them like details of the boundary their solicitors; refuse to reply, cannot be bothered or poo- poo your request. This company is an absolute nightmare, which is mad considering I was ready to complete early June but their own negligence made it take until late September. Their release of tenant deposits is something else altogether; (see letting at Dereham branch). Advice is; to sell or buy somewhere else

I was sold a deceptive property with drain blockage issues and I had to spend in thousands to fix the issue. I would recommend to be extra cautious to go with the solicitor recommended by this Abbots barkingside (solicitor wanted me to pay extra £1000 for just sending a letter to seller asking his response about the drainage issue and god knows how much more I need to spend if I have to go to court). Because of the nature of the issue, I was expecting Abbots Barkingside to contact the seller liable to pay the damages which he was responsible to fix it.

I would advise never to use this effort of a company. They failed to protect me from bad tenents and costing me over £2000 in lost rent inspection of property not regular failing to add requested protections one star is an exaggeration. Should be - 5 stars
