I had an extremely disappointing experience when I came close to buying a property through Abbotts Stowmarket. They effectively lead me on for well over a month, making me believe that I had placed an acceptable offer on a property, and that the vendor just needed more time to find onwards, only for them to then inform me at the very last second that another party had come in with an offer... how convenient. It’s clear that these agents used me as nothing more than bait, a useful idiot, to force the sale to go to best and final offers and to get their client a bigger offer, having led me down the garden path for weeks. We all know that estate agents deploy these shady tactics, but it’s still extremely disappointing to fall victim to them. I would not recommend buying through Abbotts Stowmarket, but you’ll probably do quite well selling through them TBH, as they seem to deploy these unsavoury tactics against perspective buyers and exploit their trust and goodwill. A real shame.

Unfortunately, zero stars is not an option. Based on my recent experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid engaging with this company if possible. Initially, the process appeared to be handled well. However, communication quickly deteriorated, emails went unanswered, and phone calls were not returned. On the day of completion, we were informed that the property had not been cleared, despite raising this concern from the outset and receiving repeated assurances from Jennifer Blake, who conducted the initial viewing. She confirmed that the clearance was arranged and that she would personally check the property once it was completed. This did not happen. As a result, we are now facing a clearance bill of approximately £2,500 before we can even begin cleaning the property. If you do find yourself having to deal with this company, I genuinely wish you the best of luck.

I had already left a review and had a phone call from somone in the Thorpe bay branch asking me to take it down. They told me it wasn't them who sold the house and they wouldn't have done what I'm about to explain. My parents put an offer in on a property and so did one of the agents friends, initially the friend of the agent had put an offer in at £370k then we put an offer in at £400k. Then all of a sudden the friend has put the same offer which isn't a problem. What the problem is is that your agents lied to the vendor saying there friend was ready to go when 2 months later the house is still stc they was as ready to go as my parents was. We never got asked to put a counter offer in or even thought about. If you do business all through back doors I don't think this is very professional and have already taken this further because there should be a fair chance for all. Also not lying to the vendor saying that the person is ready to go when they full well wasn't isn't a good move

I just want to say the BIGGEST thank you to Peter for all his help! Due to a big problem to do with a landlord withdrawing 2 days before key handover we were facing very scary times but thanks to Peter we are now in a lovely home with so much space for our children! He worked so so hard all hours under the sun to make sure we still had a property to move into on the day we had planned! I have never met anyone who cares about tenants as much as he does and his experience and knowledge really shown through!
