After spending long time finding are forever home, we managed to find the one we thought was it After contacting the estate agent, Andrew Grant, we put in the asking price and was lucky enough to be accepted Which we had an email confirming We paid over a holding fee of £500, which in their accepting letter, said it was for holding the property and taking it off the market with sold to terms and conditions But after a couple of days, we noticed they hadn’t taken it off the market or marked it as sold. We started the legal process with Solicitors and paid initial fee to them. After about a week, one of their agents from Andrew, Grant phoned us and said that someone else had seen it put in a higher offer so basically the house was pulled from underneath us with no warning then we had problem of trying to get the money back off Andrew, Grant and our solicitor they did pay up but if you’re thinking about buying a house please do not use Andrew Grant as they have no interest in you at all, you’re just a money making opportunity and if they can screw you over for an extra couple of hundred quid in commission, they will my partner was absolutely devastated. It feels like you’ve been kicked in the teeth. I won’t be using them ever again, or recommending them to anyone

Dear Mr Tayler, We fully understand your disappointment but this situation was not within our control. As I think we pointed out to you, we are obliged by law to report to the vendors any new offers that we receive. It is then up to the vendor whether they wish to accept a new offer. This does not happen very often but as stated, is completely outside of our control. Your assertions regarding our motivations are therefore totally without foundation and we would respectfully ask that you withdraw them. Having checked, we received your reservation fee on the 2nd of this month (March 23), an alternative offer was accepted by the vendor on the 8th and your reservation fee was processed back on the 9th (yesterday) without dispute or delay. Opposite to the inference in your comment, your case serves to demonstrate and highlight that our returns process is extremely prompt and trouble free. Finally, our record of conversations suggests that you paid money in advance to a surveyor (not a lawyer as you now state in your comment). You may recall that to help you, we offered to assist in pursuing the return of any such unused funds. Given the facts we would ask that you reconsider your comment where appropriate. In the meantime, we do understand your frustration and are sorry that you lost out on this occasion.
