GoogleI live abroad and have been letting my property through Carter Jonas for 7 years now and have found their service to be very good. They do an excellent job of managing the property and have always found good tenants for me. I have never had a problem with them. I would highly recommend them.

Trustpilot-Mess about with people and waste…
Fulham Branch, 361 Fulham Palace Road-Mess about with people and waste buyers’ time...lie.-GDPR: asks for bank statements but did not provide any guarantee that this information would be stored safely. Did not ask for my permission to be added to their database.-Sales manager was borderline racist, explaining to me what “a round number meant in English” with a very patronising tone...AVOID at all costs!

GoogleCarter Jonas in Barnes represents exactly the type of letting agency which can make London such an unpleasant city to rent in. They breached their contract with us at the end of our tenancy and their behaviour and cavalier attitude throughout was deeply unpleasant to have to deal with. The problems arose at the end of our tenancy, our Check Out report highlighted some minor issues in the kitchen and some cat hairs on the living room curtains. We had no issue with money being deducted from the deposit in order to resolve these issues and we asked Carter Jonas how much this would cost. Carter Jonas failed to respond to our repeated efforts at communication to ascertain these costs, instead when they did respond it was to tell us that there were other issues in the property, that had not been highlighted in the Check Out report. We asked repeatedly when our deposit would be returned and eventually it was returned 42 days after the end of our tenancy but with deductions made without our agreement. (Deposits must be repaid within 30 days of the end of a tenancy). £372 was deducted from our deposit for cleaning. I asked for a breakdown of these costs and the cleaning invoices. Carter Jonas’ attitude was evasive asking us why we would need this information. I then tried to open a dispute through our tenancy deposit scheme (TDS) but Carter Jonas had deleted our record instead of archiving it and TDS said that I would have to ask Carter Jonas to reinstate the record. Eventually Carter Jonas produced cleaning invoices which didn’t break the work down any further. The property had sat empty for over a month after the end of our tenancy and I suspected that we were being charged for cleaning work which had arisen during this period. One of the invoices was for steam cleaning the carpets. When I asked Carter Jonas, they said that this was because there had been pet hair on the carpets. The carpets however, had been steam cleaned by our cleaners and there was indeed no mention of pet hairs on the carpet in the Check Out report. When I put this to Carter Jonas they eventually agreed that they would charge the landlord for this work instead. If I were the landlord, I would definitely have not been happy with this arrangement. We then asked repeatedly for the breakdown of the other costs, which were excessive, but Carter Jonas never gave us an explanation beyond the costs being for cleaning. When a deposit is a couple of thousand pounds it is not trivial nor acceptable nor legal to withhold it with no explanation beyond the terms of a tenant’s contract. Neither is it acceptable for a letting agency to deduct money from the deposit through a deposit protection scheme without firstly receiving the agreement of the tenant. All our attempts at communication were met with a vague “so what” indifferent attitude and it was only through perseverance that we were able to get any of our money, which had been illegally held, back.

GoogleI found the staff at Carter Jonas - York to all be very knowledgeable, curteous and friendly. It’s a stressful time securing all the paperwork and ensuring everything runs smoothly and Lois was brilliant in keeping us updated on how things were progressing - at times, more so than our own estate agents/solicitors. So much so that next time we move it will be with and through Carter Jonas. Another key selling point for them was how knowledgable Keith, the chap who showed us around the property, was. He answered our questions and if he didn’t know the answer he admitted it and then went away and found out for us - very impressive!! All in all a 5-star service and experience.

GoogleI view many properties through many ages when relocating to York. As I was moving from London, it was often tricky, and a bit stressful at times. Holly at Carter Jonas has been amazing. Understanding my preferences, negotiating with landlords, driving me to viewings and even doing me Skype viewings when I couldn't get there. They were by far the best agency I dealt with, and when I buy a property in York myself to rent out, I will go to them!

GoogleA recent sale of our apartment in South Kensington was handled by Keri Mahmoud. From the outset we were briefed by Keri on how the property would be marketed and agreed on the asking price. She took great care to understand our wishes with regard to sale of the apartment and from then on kept us fully updated on progress, viewings, market conditions. Upon accepting an offer with an ambitious exchange date she worked closely with our solicitor to achieve an efficient and timely conclusion. GoogleI have used many estate agents in the past..Carter Jonas are by far the most pleasent to deal with. They just get on with the matter in hand and don't delay or waste time in trivial matters as I've experienced in the past. Making the whole moving process much more enjoyable! I specifically dealt with Catherine, who was lovely and friendly and nothing was too much bother. Sarah was also very professional and no nonsense. Very quick and responsive to emails.
