I recently rented a flat in Marylebone with Carter Jonas. I cannot express how efficient and thoughtful the process was from start to finish. I viewed the flat with the absolutely sensational Harriet and had the keys in less than 10 days. She went above and beyond to push through the process as quickly and professionaly as possible and, for that, I cannot thank her enough - what a superstar! I was looking for a delightful little humble abode I could call home, and after looking for the past week a Mr Thomas Newton was most helpful in ending my search rather quickly. When I first spoke to Mr Newton, he spent time in understanding my many needs, and provided me several options I just felt in love with. During this period he also gave me some fascinating information on the history of Marylebone and showed me around the area Sherlock Holmes use to call home. Well, if you’re looking for a property, there’s no better property detective I could recommend more than Mr Thomas Newton.

I was informed that my holding deposit would not be refunded due to “failed referencing.” However, under the Tenant Fees Act 2019, an agent may only retain a holding deposit in limited circumstances, such as if an applicant provides false or misleading information, fails a right-to-rent check, withdraws from the tenancy, or fails to take reasonable steps to enter into a tenancy agreement. In this case, I do not believe that any of these conditions apply. All information provided by me was accurate and honest to the best of my knowledge, and I cooperated fully with the referencing process. They have now just withheld a £810 deposit with no satisfactory reason and I wonder upon how many other people they have done this to. Emily in perfectly was extremely rude. I shall never recommend this agent to anyone and I advise all future renters to be very weary when attempting to rent through them.

My wife and I have quite extensive experience of dealing with many different estate agents and are sometimes quite surprised on how poor service can be. I was even told by a well known agent that he was far too busy to call me and let me know a suitable property had come to market and I needed to keep an eye on rightmove. However as soon as we called Charlotte at Carter Jonas we got a terrific service and with great enthusiasm she worked really hard to find us the right property in Marylebone. On several occasions we got to see flats early in the process before they were launched via online platforms. This proved to be a winning tactic and it wasn’t long before Charlotte had found just what we’d been looking for. She was really helpful through the negotiating period without being pushy and just did a great job all round. We would not hesitate to recommend this agent to anyone who needs expert advice on the area. We’d also like to mention Sam who along with Charlotte was extremely helpful.
