You’ll see that Gascoigne Halman in Holmes Chapel are flooded with positive reviews but it is important to emphasise my experience, not as a seller who employed them but as a buyer who bought a house from them. They were flawless and faultless, especially Steph. The entire team were spot on but in a process that can often feel inhumane and difficult at the best of times, it’s important to know there are some human beings in your corner and that is the best way to describe them; humans who understand this is an exciting but anxiety ridden time that is hugely unpredictable. Despite not being my estate agent, Steph was without doubt the most consistent communicator in our entire chain, when our own supposed senior sales progress or at another agent became absolutely hopeless and did not communicate whatsoever. They were also incredibly understanding and conscious of those who are neurodiverse in this process in providing consistent updates. This is something that is easy to take for granted but they managed this perfectly and made the process feel doable at a very difficult time. I did not sell with GH in Holmes Chapel but I couldn’t be happier with the experience as a buyer. They just get it. Thank you to you all!

We couldn’t recommend the team at Gascoigne Halman Holmes Chapel highly enough. Our relationship with Steph, Abby and Sarah has spanned several years, largely because we are rather fussy! Throughout that time, they have been incredibly patient, friendly and supportive, keeping us in mind and staying in touch until the perfect property finally came along. And when it did, the service didn’t stop there. Our chain broke down twice, and on both occasions Steph and the team went above and beyond to help get everything back on track. It genuinely felt as personal to them as it was to us. While we were working through enquiries within the chain, Steph was even checking on sales further down the chain with other estate agents to make sure everything was progressing and nothing was being missed. That level of care and attention made such a difference during what could otherwise have been an incredibly stressful process. There’s helpful, there’s professional, there’s going above and beyond… and then there’s the team at Gascoigne Halman. We really cannot fault the service they provided and would recommend Steph, Abby, Sarah and the whole team without hesitation. Thank you for helping us finally find our perfect home and for being there every step of the way!

Excellent customer service from the outset. Moving house is a stressful process and the whole team at Gascoigne Halman give 100% to ensure it's as positive an experience as it can be. The team is well networked within Poynton and the surrounding areas which all helps. They have their ears to the ground which is a good thing when it comes to getting a sale done. They don't just rely on Rightmove to drive leads - they have their own little black book which is driven by their tenacity and relationship building with their customer base and network of contacts. They are proactive and keen to get the sale across the line whilst ensuring communication remains effective at all points in the sales journey. Great from start to finish. We met with several local Estate Agents and had differing valuations. We wanted to sell our house without overvaluing it and then having to reduce the price as the sale was taking too long for our liking. Gascoigne Halman got the asking price about right. After enough viewings gave us our buyer the follow up on the whole of the chain by Gascoigne Halman was spot on. They knew more about the big picture than anyone else. Unfortunately I did not have a positive experience with the Macclesfield branch. I approached them in May 2026 to market my property, a terrace in the town centre. They were initially responsive to me and organised a valuation very quickly. The photos were arranged reasonably quickly, but I had to chase them after their initial deadline passed to get the brochure and listing ready. It was then posted on Rightmove, Zoopla, and OnTheMarket. In the meantime, I had agreed to an initial meeting with their mortgage advisor but somehow they mixed up my details and were phoning someone else with the same name - and they shared some of my details with the wrong person. There was no apology for this. Using their app, I could see that my home had many views on Rightmove however this did not translate into viewings. After a couple of weeks I was contacted about a viewing and agreed to it despite it being on a day I had initially said I couldn't do, as the agent on the phone was quite pushy about it being this particular day. When the agent arrived it was someone who had never been to the property before and she was unprepared. After no feedback or offer from the viewing, and no further viewings, I sent an email to the office to ask their advice as to how to generate some interest in the property. Someone called me back and left a voicemail, which I returned and was told they were unavailable but would call me back. They did not. I followed up via email, twice, to no response. In the intervening period I went into their office and found my property was not being advertised physically in the shop. I therefore gave notice to the agent, which they are supposed to acknowledge. After a follow up email 2 days later, I phoned them 4 days after the initial notice was given to be told they couldnt find the notice letter in their inbox. Somehow it was then found but acknowledged with the wrong dates on it, so I had to phone again to get it adjusted. The date the house was supposed to be withdrawn from market came and went. The house wasnt taken off the market, so I had to chase this up with them, too, until it was actioned. They have also not arranged to provide me my spare key back. Overall, this was not a good experience. I understand the housing market is not fast moving at present however the communication and organisation of this estate agent was severely lacking in my experience.

The Knutsford branch of Gascoigne Halman have been amazing from start to finish with the sake of our house. The whole team are lovely to deal with and so hard working, without being pushy when we were undecided if we should even sell in the early days. Dougie was patient while we made the decision (which took a few months) and was there if we had (and we did) questions. Frances was very helpful with getting the listing up, booking viewing and answering questions. Dev was brilliant to deal with through the long process from offer to exchange, polite, personable, friendly and super helpful. I can thank you enough for all your efforts and keeping us in the loop. I’ve had a really positive experience dealing with Dev throughout my house purchase. From the initial viewings, which were always relaxed and gave me plenty of time to properly take in the house, through to agreeing the sale, he’s been great to deal with. Dev helped with the negotiations and ultimately helped me agree a price I was really happy with. Although it’s been a relatively straightforward purchase with no chain, he’s still kept on top of things throughout, regularly chasing where needed and helping to keep the process moving. He’s always been friendly, pleasant and easy to deal with, both in person and over the phone. Buying a house can be a stressful process, but Dev has made this experience very straightforward. I’d happily recommend Dev and the team at Gascoigne Halman Knutsford for house purchases and sales.
