TrustpilotTerrible communication
I would try to steer clear of this company if possible. We have rented a property through this agency and it has been a nightmare. Communication is horrendous, you cannot get hold of anyone at all. We even went into the branch about our queries and still were told that no one was available and someone would contact us (which they didn’t). The property was not ready for us to move into on the agreed date and we were not told about this until we chased and chased about needing more info on moving in.

GoogleJoanne and the team did a fantastic job of selling my late mothers house, going above and beyond to make the process as easy as possible at what was a very difficult time, any problems that arose were quickly sorted out with compassion and sympathy, truly a five star service.

GoogleWe recently bought our house in Poynton through Gascoigne Halman and Jo, Kate and the team were very well organised, professional and supportive throughout the whole process. Gascoigne Halman were very proactive in contacting us and finding out how we were getting on when we started looking at houses and Jo and Kate showed us a number of properties before we made a final decision. I would highly recommend Gascoigne Halman in Poynton and would particularly like to thank Jo and Kate for their support.

Google⭐☆☆☆☆
Avoid Gascoigne Hallman Poynton and Jigsaw Surveyors
We strongly advise against using Jigsaw Surveyors. Due to their poor wording and lack of clarity in their Grade 3 report, we lost the opportunity to purchase 114 Dale House Fold, Poynton. Lucy Weddel’s report, particularly regarding movement and subsidence, was vague and failed to provide clear conclusions.
When we raised concerns and requested a senior surveyor to reassess, John Daniels revisited the property. However, his professionalism was lacking, he considered a voicemail sufficient communication for such an important matter. His response came a full week after we had already withdrawn from the purchase. Given that buying a home is one of the most significant financial decisions, we expected clear, written confirmation that there were no underlying structural issues, but this never happened.
To make matters worse, Jigsaw Surveyors were referred to us by Gascoigne Halman in Poynton. Katie at Gascoigne Halman later admitted they had failed to follow proper procedures, including direct discussions with us. Their failure ultimately cost us the home, while they sold it to another buyer, likely at a higher price to maximize their commission.
The financial and emotional toll has been immense. We relocated from Leeds to Poynton for this specific house and incurred substantial costs in surveys, solicitor fees, moving expenses, storage, and temporary rentals. We have now submitted formal complaints to RICS and the Property Ombudsman, as their combined negligence has caused significant financial losses.
Additionally, it is deeply concerning that Jigsaw Surveyors allegedly shared information about our report with Gascoigne Halman and third parties, an apparent breach of data protection regulations that raises serious ethical questions.
We urge anyone considering Jigsaw Surveyors to stay clear. Their reports lack the necessary clarity and reassurance, and their relationship with Gascoigne Halman appears to prioritize their own interests over their clients. Unfortunately, even the vendors failed to act with integrity. However, karma has a way of setting things right, and we will be pursuing reimbursement for all our incurred costs.
Avoid Jigsaw Surveyors and do not count on Gascoigne Halman for professional support and follow procedures at such a critical purchase.

TrustpilotAbsolutely terrible experience with…
Absolutely terrible experience with this letting agent. After the landlord withdrew an agreed offer, we were left out of pocket and still have not had our deposit returned. Communication has been poor throughout, with constant delays and little accountability. We felt completely unsupported and ignored when trying to resolve the issue fairly. I would strongly advise others to be very cautious before dealing with this agency. They tried to make us send them thousands of pounds with no contract given then last minute withdrew the offer and are refusing to give the deposit back. Absolutely dreadful agency.

TrustpilotExcellent throughout
Absolutely excellent from start to finish of the house sale - one local agent kept phoning to see if we 'had come to a decision to market the property' which lost them any business, whereas GH did the visit to see the place and then said they'd leave us alone and it was up to us to give it the go-ahead or not. No pestering - excellent. Once we gave them the thumbs-up we had a string of viewers within days, and eventually exceeded the guide price by a small margin which suggests the guide price was accurate too. The staff at Gascoigne Halman were always on hand and worked brilliantly, especially Georgia who made sure everyone was kept in touch with any and all news and developments as things progressed, resulting in a sale a fortnight before Christmas which was exactly what buyers and sellers wanted. I would heartily recommend this outift.

GoogleWe had our house on the market for almost another year with another local agent and only had a handful of viewings.
We switched to Gascoigne Halman and right from the start Joanne and the team were super profession and (equally importantly) super friendly. Viewings flowed and six months later the property was sold. The difference between the 2 agents (who were literally 50 yards from each other) was stark. Highly recommend

TrustpilotPoor service and disappointing behaviour after tenancy agreement
After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition. We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year. When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken.

TrustpilotAwful management and communication
As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.

TrustpilotHighly recomment Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield
After 3 aborted sales with Purple Bricks which consumed 14 stressful months due to lack of support, wrong price, no vetting of purchasers, etc., etc. I decided to use Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield to sell our house. Within 1 week Matthew Clark and his team had vetted a new purchaser who was right for our property, truly had the funds, and was highly likely to follow through to completion (which they did).I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman enough for their proactive advice and follow-up, aiding the purchaser and keeping me informed. I found them friendly and easy to communicate with. No waiting for someone to answer the phone for inquiries and prompt replies on email. When the exchange of contacts and completion time came, they helped pressure crucial solicitor communication so that we met the target dates keeping me (the seller) and the purchaser happy. I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield enough. Thanks, folks, you deserve the credit, and will be using you again for another property sale.

TrustpilotNegligent - Do not rent from them
My husband and I moved into a property managed by letting agents Gascoigne Halman in Chapel en le Frith in November 2022. From the start we had major issues with the property; it hadn't been cleaned, the water pressure was terrible, in fact prior to us moving in after pointing out some defects during a viewing the electricity board had to be brought in to make the electrics safe! There was rubbish left in the loft and cellar and an open manhole cover with standing water in the basement with a pump in it. We had been told this was a usable storage space by the agents. It was not. It flooded more than once ruining our property and was horrendously damp. The wetness in the cellar rose through the house making it constantly damp and mouldy. The window frames were so rotten you could push your finger through them. The front door lock was insecure and you could push the door open with a hard shove. The shower seal was leaky and caused staining downstairs. The shower barely worked then stopped altogether. I believe the property would have been below the required EPC rating for letting if it were tested last year. These are just a few of the catalogue of defects. (I have photographic evidence of all of this). It took months to get some these things rectified and over 200 emails. I have made clear that one of my emails be treated as an official complaint but nothing has come of it. Often we were simply told 'the landlord doesn't want to spend any more money on the property'.We requested a reduced rent rate from £900 to £500 expecting a negotiation with the landlord. He took over a month to respond and then offered £850 despite our explaining the extensive damage to our property and us having paid for a shed to move our things from the cellar. The agents then sent messages chasing arrears. After continuing to press for the landlord to fulfill his legal obligations we were eventually hand delivered a section 21 notice (our tenancy should have run until November and they delivered this in June which I think may be in breach of the rules). The landlord claimed to not be able to afford repairs and needed to sell the property. This all happened over an 8 month period and I have to believe there is some sort of recourse for us. The property should not have been let in that state and we should be able to claim damages for our ruined property and loss of income (I work from home as a contractor). Having rented for over 20 years I have never had such a terrible experience. We moved back to Chapel to be closer to my elderly parents to care for them and now because of the lack of affordable, appropriate property we have had to move further away ultimately making them suffer. We have contacted the property ombudsman who have advised we have a case against Gascoigne Halman we just need to to follow it up. We have managed to find a private let and now moved at great personal expense through no fault of our own. Our new property is clean, well cared for and seems heaven after 9 Cross Street.
