Despite being responsible, communicative tenants who looked after the property and even made improvements at our own cost using the agent’s approved contractors, our experience with Ellis & Co was very poor.
Throughout the tenancy, communication was frequently slow and issues that directly affected us were not handled well. Most notably, after reporting a broken oven in December, we were left without one for several weeks. Even the maintenance team acknowledged and apologised for the delay, explaining it was due to the landlord attempting to avoid the cost of replacement.
These issues were compounded at the end of the tenancy. We experienced prolonged delays, lack of communication and unprofessional behaviour during the checkout and deposit process. Our deposit was not handled within the timeframe set out in our tenancy agreement and deductions were raised late and without clear explanation, despite a positive checkout report confirming the property, including the garden, was well maintained.
A formal complaint was sent to the Managing Director and was ignored entirely, leaving us no option but to escalate the matter externally.
Tenants should not have to chase repeatedly for basic updates or be left in limbo after vacating a property. The experience was stressful, disappointing and fell well below the standard expected from a professional letting agent. I would strongly caution others to think carefully before renting through this agency.

I have the utmost respect for Georgia. She managed the entire process with incredible professionalism. She fought my corner, navigated the negotiations with the landlord, and ensured I received my full deposit back. It is rare to find a property manager who is that dedicated and fair.
I also want to say a huge thank you to Emilia, who was absolutely lovely to deal with. She was so caring and helpful regarding the viewings and property search. She brought a really human touch to the experience and made everything feel much less stressful.

GoogleI've rented two properties out through Ellis & Co for many years. Neil Baron and Kier Hawkins have proved themselves over the years to be effective and capable managers. Both have had to deal with tricky situations in the past which they've handled with kindness, tact and sound commercial sense. They are also very knowledgable and fully abreast of the legislative changes which are making life more difficult for landlords.
Ashley Thompson is also doing a very fine job in managing and troubleshooting repairs and maintenance issues, going above and beyond to sort out problems and acting very quickly and effectively.
This is an excellent team, and I have no hesitation in recommending them to any landlord renting out a property.

The company has acted as our letting agent for a flat in Tottenham Hale for over a decade and been assiduous and efficient, as well as extremely helpful to us and our (only 2) tenants, throughout that time. GoogleWe are tenants in a property in Bethnal Green. For the last 6 months we have had Ashley Thomson managing our house. He is excellent. He responds to emails quickly, and shows genuine concern for the issues that we raise. Couldn't ask for a nicer person to work with.
It's worth mentioning, however, that the people managing our property prior to Ashley were extremely frustrating to work with. They would often take a long time to reply to emails. They would rarely follow-up on issues. It felt important to mention the issues we have had in the 4 years prior to being managed by Ashley. We hope that Ashley is here to stay!
