As long distance purchasers, our experience has been very good throughout. The staff have consistently provided friendly, helpful and timely reponses to all of our requests and questions. The only reason we've not felt able to award 5 stars is due to the brochure/on-line description of the house which majored on the local environment and infrastructure but gave very little detail on the house and its fixtures. Consequently, being able to view the property we purchased before we were proceedable was a huge advantage to us as long distance buyers and was the key to securing our early offer. Allowing this was in marked contrast to many other agents in the area. A big thank you to all the staff in the Whaley Bridge office.

600k over valued and dangerous

Robert at Tarporley Gascoigne Halman tried to sell me a property at £1.3million that was only worth £900k.After noticing worrying signs on a new build home that I had originally place a bid on, I had a rics chartered surveyor both snag, and value the property.224 faults were found, with an estimate of upwards £170k to correct them. It was valued at £900k as it was, or £1.1m max if completed to a high standard. Almost every unit had damage to them, the showers leaked water on the ceilings, electrics did not work. There was even a huge fly infestation in the loft. The list was scary. I could have moved in to a dangerous property if checks had not been carried out.I immediately informed Robert, however days later he stated how excellent the build was. Seemingly without a care of how dangerous this could be.I removed my offer, and the house was placed back on the market days later with false information, and more worryingly, not mentioning a thing about the condition of the property. I just hope whoever looks at it next has a full survey conducted, and fingers crossed there are no more like the one I was about to buy on his books, or GH as a whole.28 March - Robert has emailed me to insultingly suggest that because I gave an advanced payment of £20,000 to the vendor, due to him being unable to continue the build due to debts, and which he can not afford to pay back until the property sells, I can sell the snagging report via him to any would be buyers. I have informed him it can and should be given to any one looking at the property. Also the valuation can be given on request providing the chartered surveyor agrees to this. Anyone looking to purchase a property at around £1.3m in East Cheshire that may be next to a garden centre ask him for a copy. Both he and the builder has one.

Shockingly bad service Recently sold an apartment through them, they couldn’t get the first offer up at all even though £15k under asking Who offers under first offer and doesn’t expect to have it rejected and come up ? Then I literally heard nothing off them for months during the sale To top it off we have not actually heard off them the apartment sold last week and no thank you call, email or anything for giving them £3k in commission Yes they sold the apartment but being fair it was a very well priced apartment in Wilmslow which probably the easiest sale going Poor service and not even getting a call to say congratulations on your sale just shows they don’t care

Gazumping First-Time Buyers

My partner and I were first-time buyers and engaged with Gascoigne a few months ago.I don't know if it was because we were first timers, or if it was just the influence of a poor seller, but we were gazumped and the total lack of professionalism and a pure run around followed. Their team there have left a bitter taste in my mouth and given me a poor view of them.If you're first-time buyers I cannot recommend engaging with the Glossop branch at the very least least.Buying with a nearby competitor we found the experience was far better, with more updates, better information, and an increased amount of respect.

It went to market and sold within 7 days in July 2022.
