GoogleShockingly bad service
Recently sold an apartment through them, they couldn’t get the first offer up at all even though £15k under asking
Who offers under first offer and doesn’t expect to have it rejected and come up ?
Then I literally heard nothing off them for months during the sale
To top it off we have not actually heard off them the apartment sold last week and no thank you call, email or anything for giving them £3k in commission
Yes they sold the apartment but being fair it was a very well priced apartment in Wilmslow which probably the easiest sale going
Poor service and not even getting a call to say congratulations on your sale just shows they don’t care

GoogleExtremely helpful team, so very approachable.
Couldn't have asked for a better team to help me on this daunting task of buying my house.
Matt Follett and Lucy Kershaw are probably the best of the best in their respective fields.
Already recommending these two to all my colleagues who are in the market to buy..

GoogleWhen it came to selling my father's house, I was given the names of 3 local agents by friends and neighbours. Since I did not live locally, I did not know much about any of them, and had to be guided by their initial reaction to my enquiry.
After some deliberation, and delays due to Covid and then the legal process, I decided on GH, who I had found to be the most helpful, and approachable and understanding of the situation, without being to pushy, they kept in touch, and abreast of our progress.
When I was finally in a position to put the house on the market, all the communication was done by phone and email. At all times I found them very helpful and prompt in replying to my messages, no matter who I spoke to in the office. They kept me informed of who was visiting the property, and when, gave regular feedback. When there was a minor issue, they proved to be very proactive in helping move things along. I would have no hesitation in strongly recommending GH based on my experience. Marcus and the team- many thanks. you were brilliant.

GoogleI am unsure where to start, the biggest thing I want to say is a massive thank you to all.
I can't tell you how many times I have mentioned to my friends and colleagues how fantastic Lucy, James, Zoe and all the people involved in my dads move have been. They really have gone above and beyond. Anything we weren't sure of they helped with, they helped fill in forms for the solicitors and even posted them.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The correspondence and communication is second to none.
Well done all at Wilmslow Gascoigne Halman.

GoogleBrilliant experience selling with Gascoigne Halman and the team. Lucy, Dominic and Markus in particular were assiduous in keeping me updated and their no nonsense advice showed their genuine interest in looking after the interests of their clients over anything else. Their customer service gives the impression of a family firm, but with the expertise of a larger agent. Thank you!

GoogleGascoigne Halman handled the sale of my late mother’s house. They were professional, sensitive and extremely proactive throughout, during an emotional time for me. The experience of Markus Jolleys, in particular, was very reassuring when the inevitable obstacles and set backs occurred. His calm advice was very much appreciated. I would definitely use again and highly recommend.

GoogleIf you’re reading these reviews to make your final decision of who to instruct to get your house sold quickly and fairly. Then just pick up the phone to Gascoigne Halman Wilmslow. We sold our house with the team after a crazy experience with another apparently, high profile agent in the SK9 area. After this experience we just wanted honest, sound advice and this is exactly what we received. Even before we launched the property we had people waiting to view, which is testament to their tireless work to build a list of buyers who actually want to buy your house rather than just dream what it could be like. All the potential buyers had been vetted so neither Gascoigne or ourselves were wasting our time with pointless viewings. A brilliant experience and would never go anywhere else. Just pick up the phone and get your house sold.

GoogleHighly recommended. Some say that Estate Agents now do little to earn their commission. This was not true about Joe, who proactively marketed our late father’s house and rapidly found suitable buyers. He was understanding and helpful with the delays due to difficulties in obtaining probate. He willingly provided help by attending in person to let people into the house when we were not able to be there and making sure that in was secure.

GoogleVery poor experience several months ago with Gascoigne.
I don't know if it was due to my partner and I being first-time buyers, or if it was just the influence of a poor seller, but we were gazumped and the total lack of professionalism and the pure run around from the team there has left a bitter taste in my mouth and given me a poor view of them.
If you're first-time buyers I cannot recommend engaging with the Glossop branch at the very least.
Buying with a nearby competitor we found the experience was 10 times better, with more updates, better information, and an increased amount of respect.
*UPDATE*
Okay since the manager has simply (and rather lazily) copied and pasted the de-escalation email he sent to us months ago (after we stated we wanted to make a formal complaint,) I will have to reaffirm some things.
Speaking directly to you. Gascoigne and Halman failed us. You and your branch for lack of a better word failed us.
You got us hyped about a house. You told us we were chosen, over the cash buyers because the seller was such a great guy. You then told us to get everything in order, rush around and get a solicitor, which we did despite going on holiday, and you did all this knowing we were first-time buyers.
We updated you at every step and you were suspiciously quiet for weeks on end. It doesn't matter if you want to blame the market, or if you want to blame the seller. You have to take responsibility.
As it was, you called us back months later asking if we were still interested, so I can only assume things didn't pan out with those cash buyers.
I'm sure you have had some great experiences selling people's houses, but you completely messed up selling us the house in question. But it's okay because one of your competitor's next door decided to pick up the slack.
You gave us a bad experience, and for the most part, I do believe it was part incompetence, but another part of me believes... well I won't throw conjecture.
I hope you take this as a learning experience and don't fail the next excited couple looking for that first positive experience.

Hi Thomas & Max,
I’m writing to you in my capacity as the branch manager of Gascoigne Halman Glossop office and in response to your email below.
Unfortunately I wasn’t in the branch this weekend or I would have been on hand myself to explain the chain of events.
First and foremost, I’m very sorry that you have lost out on this property and can empathise somewhat with how you feel, having experienced something similar myself many years ago. Thankfully I was successful on a different property some weeks later and looking back it all worked out ok, but the anger, frustration and disappointment I felt at the time wasn’t pleasant at all. In fact it still frustrates today as I drive past the property in question frequently.
I would like to clarify at this point that as the selling agent we are obliged to follow our clients instructions. We cannot be held accountable for our clients actions/decisions. Perhaps things could have been communicated differently to you this weekend, but I would like to reassure you that nothing untoward has gone on here. You were not ever a “reserve” and only one offer (yours) was accepted originally.
I have spoken to the vendor this morning to confirm his decision and he is very apologetic and understands your anger/frustration. His sentiment about having been a first time buyer himself was I believe a very genuine one at the time.
However, having now found a property himself that he wished to offer on, he feels that he had to act in the way that he did in order to secure said property. The decision rested entirely on three factors:
1. We hadn’t received an access call from your lender to conduct a survey.
2. The seller of the property our client is interested in indicated through their agent that they were nervous about being in a chain where no survey had been carried out yet to first time buyers in the current climate, I suspect the agent may have played a guiding role here on their clients behalf.
3. The cash buyers hadn’t ever completely walked away, asking to be kept in reserve if circumstances changed.
All of the above points resulted in us being asked by our client to see if the cash buyers were in fact still interested. When it transpired that they were, a chain of events unfolded that led us to have to call you to inform you of the bad news, that our client had now chosen to switch to the cash buyers to help him secure a property himself. Arguably this doesn’t look good on either our client, or ourselves as his representative, but I genuinely believe that had the mortgage market not been turned upside down this last couple of weeks you would not find yourself in this position. Your survey would probably have already been booked in on Cliffe Road and the seller and agent of the property our client wishes to purchase would not have given a second thought about a survey not having been done yet.
These are truly unprecedented times in the housing market and some of the behaviour we are seeing is not entirely dissimilar to the market behaviour we experienced back in 2008/2009. I can only offer our sincerest and heartfelt apologies that you have not been successful on this occasion and whilst I note that you do not wish to attempt to buy through ourselves in the future I do hope that you will reconsider this point should we be able to find a suitable alternative property for you, as we wouldn’t hesitate to call you to see if you wished to view through ourselves in the future.
In terms of our internal complaints procedure, we have already now completed the first phase. Should you wish to take your complaint further then I will bring the matter to the attention of our sales director.
Whatever happens next for you both I/we genuinely wish you every success with your efforts to secure a place to call home. I do believe that opportunities will continue to come your way and hope that like with my own experiences it all works out for the best.
Kind Regards
John

GoogleMy experience with Gascoigne Halman was almost perfect, and no doubt due to the staff they employ.
The landlord of my previous apartment was attempting to bully me into signing and back-dating a barely legal contract by refusing to give Gascoigne Halman a reference for me until I signed it. Regan at Gascoigne Halman advised me all throughout the situation and was incredibly helpful in getting a reference from the agents that I initially starting my tenancy through.
Regan really went the extra mile for my girlfriend and I and we could not be more grateful.
