I recently purchased a property with Davis Tate and I would thoroughly recommend their services. David Wrigley, the branch manager, was an exceptionally kind individual who helped me through my purchase in a very limited timeframe (due to my original house purchase falling through). He really listened to what I needed in my house purchase and gave me advice taking into account of my circumstances. Sarah from the team was also very helpful in finding a document that my solicitors needed out of her dedication to the job. I also really liked that they would send you a video tour of the house that you are interested in viewing before booking you onto a physical viewing (which started due to covid I believe) and that was really informative. Davis Tate in Didcot is a friendly, approachable, and communicative estate agent which delivered more than I could ask for. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Davis Tate does not value

We arrived at the property to move in and collect the keys as agreed. We were greeted by the guy taking the inventory from an independent company who said "you're not moving in today are you?" we said "yes why" and he said "It's really bad in there, I had to take over 300 photos". There were issues we did not know were there we had not been told about, like the new flooring coming up, damp and the fact it had not been cleaned and looked like a building site. You would think this would be quite a priority, especially with Covid and I am venerable. We came back and were questioned like we were over exaggerating but sent over photos. A clean was arranged the next day which was done but when we came back the floors had not been cleaned and were still covered in dust/emulsion and the fridge had not been cleaned out for example. I had to send a video of the dust being wiped off the floor. We have been waiting for a second proper clean to be done and some of the house issues to be fixed, which now have been but as last weekend was a write off and we work full time we can only move in this weekend. We rented a van for the weekend which of course we couldn't use and had to cancel and make new arrangements. We asked for the contract to be moved to a week later so our rent would start from when we could actually move in, not mentioning the van or the inconvenience but the landlord and Davis Tate refused and or refused to give us a rent rebate. You would think as it was there mistake, especially in these times when we had all our stuff to move and couldn't they would show good faith and make this right with a customer, nope. I was passed to 4 different people and eventually got a very condescending operations manager who offered us a £50 john Lewis voucher and told us "Technically, we could have moved in and cleaned around it, some people have done" wow. Its not about the money as we have already paid the first month for me its the principle and now knowing this company couldn't care less about its clients and that worries me and my partner as the contract is for 2 years. Personally I would give them a wide birth.

Rude and unprofessional

I can't recommend the firm based on my recent personal experience. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from a purchase (this was prior to contract exchange) and received a completely unprofessional phonecall from an employee wanting to know more details as to why. I highlighted my concerns and reasoning but the employee became more irate over time and was not only berating me for not proceeding, but made several patronising personal remarks indicating I lacked an understanding of some material information. I can assure any readers that I had a very detailed understanding of the matter at hand (surely more than the employee as he misquoted some very important figures throughout) and my decision to proceed was based on some very real concerns. I should have recognised an earlier red flag when the property survey revealed the highest level of concern in one area and was told it was "no big deal." I am still flabbergasted that a firm would initiate the call with me and what they felt it would achieve? That I would capitulate and say "oh sure well I'll definitely go ahead then!" I can completely understand that they had a disappointed vendor, but being rude and unprofessional with the buyer is not the way to resolve anything.
