If you find a house you really really want which is unfortunately marketed by Davis Tate then knock on the door and speak to the owners directly. The pretentiousness of Oliver at this Davis Tate branch is off the scale, Oliver made it so difficult to view a property in Wantage that we gave up and went for another property in Hanney. They also make you pay a third party mortgage advisory company £60 before you can even make an offer, they claim this is anti money laundering checks (free with other agents) but it’s nothing more that trying to up sell services.

Having "interviewed" a few estate agents in Wantage in order to sell my elderly parents house, I chose Davis Tate, or more truthfully, I chose Oliver Martin (Branch Manager). Being friendly, efficient and honest, Oliver was immediately someone I felt I could talk to and could trust with managing the sales process as I live 200 miles away. Everyone says that people "couldn't do enough" but Oliver and his team went that extra mile from returning to the house to take more photos when the garden looked its best and organising a gardener to cut the grass and hedges. Towards the end of the sale, when conveyancers became insufferable, Kirsty was able to contact the buyers directly to assure me that from their perspective everything was fine and the exchange would happen to plan. In general estate agents get a bad press, but I have nothing but praise for Oliver Martin and his team and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Jessica manages my rental property in Wantage and has always been fast to respond with any questions that I may have arising from her thorough and accurate inspection reports. Most recently Jessica managed the installation of a new gas boiler, after the original boiler failed, arranging in the meantime for oil-filled radiators to be delivered to keep the tenants warm and even offered to take blankets, should the radiators not arrive in a timely manor. At all times Jessica kept myself informed, e-mailed quotations, following up with a phone call asking for authorisation to proceed and looked after the tenant. Finally Jessica sent pictures of the new Gas Boiler installed and working, thanks Jessica.

If you are looking for a personal service i cannot recommend Davis Tate enough we purchased the house form them two years ago and have just sold with them we had a buyer within an hour of going on the market officially, and even when this buyer didn't follow through with the purchase we soon had a queue of buyers lined up. They know the local market and everything you need to know about the area even down to the best schools for your children which was a god send to us. After the death of our mother we first approached Davis tate in Wantage for a probate valuation. Oliver was highly professional and understanding of the difficult situation we were faced with, and dealt with us in a friendly and sympathetic manner. John was extremely professional to deal with throughout the process, always responsive to emails and calls dealing with various aspects such as liaising with solicitors etc. Our sale was particularly challenging due to our buyer and an underlying chain, but John worked extremely hard to drive the sale forward.
