Our sale of a property in Surbiton was complicated by the fact that everything had to be managed from overseas. We were fortunate in being directed to John D. Wood and Co at the Surbiton branch, where we have nothing but praise for the professionalism and efficiency of Luke Dwyer and Theo Harding. There were many issues which caused delays in the process of this sale, but at all times Luke was quick to be in touch and to advise on the way forward. Although we did not meet in person, we very much appreciated his reassuring manner as we negotiated both legal and practical setbacks.

The team at John D Wood in Lymington, led by Adam Darbyshire, did nothing short of a superb job handling the sale of our house, Newlands Manor. From the outset it was never going to be an easy sale. However they handled it with professionalism and aplomb. In the final few months when the same questions plus new questions were coming from the purchasers solicitor they were constantly on top of it and kept themselves abreast of any new developments that were occurring. A difficult price negotiation at the very end between us and the purchaser was deftly handled by Adam to a very positive conclusion for all parties, that we didn’t expect. Well done Adam! We have been hugely impressed every step of the way by the sheer hard work of Adam and his team and the negotiation skills that have been necessary to bring this to completion. Condescending, unprofessional and slow

Avoid this company at all costs!!! I had to chase Ben German multiple times to prepare a basic tenancy agreement after converting our sale into a rental. Although the urgency was made clear to him, he could not have cared less and cost us around £1000 as a result. His response when we chased him was he was “doing us a favour”. I thought he was (politely) being asked to do his job. Perhaps the Head of Lettings was a volunteer… Rental payments were excessively delayed by their accounts team without reason or explanation; the tenants had paid on time. No statements were issued and I spend months chasing for these. I complained to their Area Manager, Emlyn. Initially, we had a productive conversation. However, he later went back on the majority of what he said. He became rude, condescending and had a total lack of interest in the stress his actions have caused. Finally he resorted to threats.

My wife and I have had quite a pleasant experience with John D Wood & Co over the past week. We have been searching for our first time purchase for a little while now and so we have dealt with a variety of agents from a number of different estate agencies. Xander from John D Wood has particularly stood out from amongst others by going the extra mile in getting to understand our situation inside and out. He is both personable and relatable, as he has lived experiences similar to those of our own. We did not feel pushed into making decisions that we weren’t comfortable with.
