GoogleWhile being an estate agent in the UK requires no testing, no schooling, no barrier for entry at all, I am still amazed at the level of competency of "negotiators' here. I put this in quotes because they indeed never do actually "negotiate. Solomon at this location provided multiple barriers just to view a property so I simply called another office who gladly accommodated. Sadly, I have dealt with countless who do not even know what hardwood flooring is, what a house is, etc. I literally send guides on housing to them when needed. I was an agent in Manhattan Fromm 2012-2015 which required schooling and testing (I also have a Masters in finance but was doing this on the side) with ongoing exams each year. You can literally walk from Sainsbury's and begin working at an agency the next day with no issue (Ive met someone who did just that!)

We needed to move in just a few days, and there were a few mistakes in paperwork provided by the landlord - Layla was stuck in the middle and responding with urgency and professionalism. GoogleExtremely poor experience with this estate agent, specifically Xander, who was dealing with the purchase of a property. Decision-changing information about the property’s immediate surrounding area was not disclosed early on in the purchase, which we later found out was well known within the Wimbledon circuit and was publicly available (unbeknown to us at the time). This information was going to emerge from solicitor searches, and ultimately meant we decided to pull out of the sale leading to wasting time and money (6+ weeks, thousands of pounds). I highly recommend avoiding buying a property from this agent based on the selected information shared, poor communication and handling of the parties involved (no acknowledgement of the situation or apology was ever provided).

GoogleI rarely write reviews but felt that this outstanding agency and especially the agent who helped us, Julian, deserve every ounce of praise I could possibly heap on them/him! The whole house buying process was made friendly, human, completely down-to-earth with his care, attention, helpfulness and knowledge. For context, we looked at houses with 12 different Oxford-based agencies. All of the other 11 felt like various levels of good or bad service, but all of the interactions were perfunctory, formal, and always felt like we were being tricked for not knowing this or that savvy real-estate know-how. John D. Wood was a COMPLETELY different experience, so much so it is not even on the same scale. It was completely human, unhurried - Julian felt like a friend. He never pushed anything on us; was completely frank about the properties, was open about pros and cons, and (this is really amazing) answered all my messages within minutes, even on Sunday nights... it really was like no service I have ever experienced. I would honestly stay in touch even after completion :)) The team at the agency (beyond Julian) was extremely knowledgeable, prompt and helpful. The mortgage broker they recommended sorted all our troubles with the banks. Every moment of the process was smooth, straightforward, honest. We have gone from looking at properties to actually moving in to our dream home in a matter of months. This would not have been possible without John D. Wood and I am extremely grateful for it. Could not praise them highly enough. Thank you for what seems one of the most important decisions in our lives! Really you have made the difference between "House" and "Home."

He kept us well informed throughout and made what could have been a stressful process smooth and quick. 1 star is too much for them. They are paid to manage a rental property & significantly failed to do so. Their breaches of contract include: 1: Letting safety certification (electrical)expire despite being authorised to act 8 weeks previously. 2: Never performing the annual inspections or reporting on the property 3: Failing to send financial reports or accounts for their charges 4: Extremely poor negotiators 5: Failed to report when a tenant was in arears (3 months in arears) 5: Failed to do anything about the arears beyond a few emails- not even to visit the property. 6: Instructed formally by email to send a section 8 eviction notice. A section 21 was sent instead. 7: Refusing to call back or pick up the phone -always in meetings unless I gave a false name when they were oddly available! I am currently seeking legal advice
