I used this agency about 3 years ago when I was trying to buy a property. The transaction was extremely prolonged, they appeared to be on the vendors’ side, even when I had paid out monies for various surveys, and I remember thinking at the time that they didn’t want me to buy the house. Reading the blogs of others today, I wonder if this organisation proactively discriminates against people of colour. It was my worst experience of an estate agent and cost me a lot of wasted money on surveys etc .... because in the end I walked away from the transaction. I would never ever use or recommend this agency. The manager needs some serious training. It’s a wonder they sell or let anything.

Agent replied

Good morning Vee. I write to confirm that in the scenario you have described we do indeed act for the vendor. However, unless the sale proceeds to completion of contracts we do not receive payment for the services provided so it is in our interest to try and ensure that all sales agree proceed to completion. Equally we do not "discriminate against people of colour". If you would like to make a formal complaint please email customercare@green-property.com and we will investigate the matter further. Kind Regards Green and Company

On Google, it says that they're closed on the weekend, yet their phones ring out and you're actually given the impression that you're on hold, waiting for an advisor.

Should of read the poor reviews before deciding to give this company money. Was pressured into making a fast transaction for a holding deposit. Then had a complete flare up with the referencing company but the letting agents were happy to continue as soon as the referencing company didn't play ball the letting agents completely changed their demeanour from being 'very friendly' to being as how they are being depicted in other reviews and refusing to give me my money back. Absolute scam and unprofessionalism. In regards to your below comment.. Firstly, I would refrain from posting sensitive/confidential information especially whilst this matter is under dispute. Secondly, what you have posted is factually incorrect and this is just the story line you are using to try and 'cover' yourselves to withhold money you are legally not entitled to, but all of that will be made obvious in exchanged emails when the formal complaint is progressed.

A landlord is reasonably entitled to request certain information from a prospective tenant when deciding whether to grant a tenancy. In doing so, it is envisaged that the information will be correct and accurate. Where a tenant provides assurances that any queries, raised as a result of the information provided, have been resolved then the landlord can accept these in good faith and proceed with further checks by a referencing company. In circumstances where these issues remain unresolved then a landlord is entitled not to proceed to grant a tenancy. It is always hoped that an application made by a tenant will proceed smoothly.

All the staff at Green & Co went out of their way to make the sale of my house as easy as possible. Always professional, always helpful and imaginative, always guiding with a kindly approach. Their consistent presence and ongoing communication really helped me get through the sometimes trying process. Thank you....

Overall my experience with Green & Co. was not fantastic, the main issue that I felt with the company was that they are not prepared or used to dealing with young adults looking to rent with other young adults. It was clear that their primary client is one of a family. I found some staff to be quite patronising when talking to me about the property as if I was a child, and didn't understand what I was getting into. Perhaps they should understand that many people in their mid-twenties have had multiple experiences with renting and do in fact know what is required from a tenant. Of particular note is when I was first liaising with the company before having been accepted the property. Me and the other tenants entered the office of the company to deliver proof of ID among other things, prior to signing the agreement. The attitude shown at this stage by the staff was shocking as we were actually ignored by most of the staff on arrival, not many people looked us in the eye, nobody welcomed us to the company or introduced themselves, many not looking up from their desks. Likewise when we were leaving the office, I distinctly remember making an effort to thank the staff and say goodbye, to which I was met with silence. I believe this was due to our age and not appearing to be a typical client or tenant. This may feel quite minor however it set a negative tone and image of the company which I struggled to shake afterwards. The year I spent with the agency did not provide any evidence to the contrary and therefore explains my two-star review.

Agent replied

Wow, that has devastated the team to receive your review Alex. They all pride themselves on looking after everyone who they deal with and we are really sorry that you felt so strongly to leave these comments. I would really like the opportunity to talk to you about your visit back in May/ June 2018 but it may be difficult to look into it in any great depth given the time that has now passed. The busy open plan office on the ground floor is not ideal for meeting everyone but I hope that you were dealt with professionally and efficiently by whichever one of the Lettings Team looked after you. We do have a very detailed and thorough process/ duty of care for all potential future tenants but clearly we failed somewhere if this came across in any way patronising. The review does not sound like us. Please feel free to call me on 01235 773406 Tim Green

I have never actual bought or sold a house through this company but I have had the pleasure of dealing with this company in a chain (a very dysfunctional chain) unfortunately for us or buyers pulled out for no reason at the last minute, I cant let that reflect on the hard work and determination Claire & Co put in.

When our Letting Management team received your email (31st January) regarding the issue raised about the central heating boiler they took action at 8.30am and engaged our contractor. The quote was approved with the landlord and the contractor agreed to attend to the work the following day (today) to complete the repair. Clearly a boiler breakdown is unusual and this was made worse by the fact it was extremely cold so I understand the inconvenience that this has caused you. Any issues experienced out of hours are generally dealt with by the tenant and reasonable costs are then refunded subject to the landlords approval. However, this is incredibly rare and most property related issues are dealt with and rectified the following day without any inconvenience to the tenant. The management team will do everything possible to ensure the boiler is repaired today. Regards Green and Company

Very friendly and on the ball when they want your business. Initially had to make 3-4 phone calls to have all the mistakes (12 photos that were repetitive, incorrect descriptions on at least 3 of the rooms, incorrect floor plan for downstairs) on the websites rectified to give accurate description of property. When I called to advise that we would not be using their recommended solicitors due to cost, the agent we'd been dealing with never bothered with us again and we had to make phone calls to them for updates. Only found out we had a viewing during a chase up call! However, during any contact with the staff, they were all very pleasant and courteous. As I stated in an email to them, they were very on the ball when it came to sending their invoice!! No response.....
