I would strongly advise anyone considering Countrywide Estate Agents to think very carefully before using them. My experience selling my flat through them was extremely stressful and disappointing, and the service fell far below what I expected from a professional estate agency. My sale collapsed twice due to mortgage issues related to the property’s construction type (Mitchell Camus concrete). This is a known issue with certain lenders, and an experienced estate agent should understand this and ensure buyers are properly vetted and using appropriate lenders before progressing a sale. Unfortunately this basic due diligence did not appear to happen. Weeks were wasted while buyers applied to lenders that were unlikely to lend on this type of property, which resulted in unnecessary delays, uncertainty and a huge amount of stress. Communication throughout the process was also very poor. Updates were slow, vague, and I frequently had to chase repeatedly just to get basic information about what was happening. At several points it genuinely felt like I was doing more work myself, contacting lenders, researching mortgage options and trying to find solutions, rather than receiving proactive support from the agent I was paying. Selling a property is one of the most important financial transactions people make, and the level of professionalism and guidance I received fell far below expectations. Based on this experience, I have very little confidence in the professionalism and due diligence carried out by this branch. After everything that happened, I would never use Countrywide again and I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone looking to sell their home. I strongly encourage other sellers to carefully consider alternative estate agents before instructing them.

After trying a few estate agents and not feeling enough enthusiasm from them, I tried Countrywide who I’d originally bought the property from in 2018. I explained to them that I had an unusual loft-style duplex to sell and I wanted a young, modern and keen team to sell it for me. Chris and Kieran jumped at the opportunity and we became friends in the process. I needed a fast timeline and they stayed completely organised, but light hearted along the way. Where other estate agents saw an unusual layout and difficult living arrangements, they saw character and wow-factor. Countywide Candleriggs really are the A-team.

If you're a landlord and want to rent out your apartment, I don't recommend it. In Scotland, the entire system favors tenants. Furthermore, there's a significant problem with tenants refusing to vacate in this country. You'll not only lose money but also a lot of peace of mind, and no one will help you. Similarly, buying to let isn't a good business; you'll be charged a lot in taxes and management fees.

After weeks of flat searching I got a next day flat viewing at my now new home! A lovely gentleman called Suream let us into the property and was very knowledgable about everything in the flat as well as the flat history! Robyn phoned me straight after my viewing to see whether I was interested. She quickly and efficiently ran through all of my questions to note my interest. My experience with Countrywide have been outstanding. I was really nervous about the selling/buying process but knew i needed somewhere bigger and had to sell. Nina came and gave me a valuation and put my mind at ease straight away. She wasn’t pushy or pushing for me to sell. She gave me the few days i needed to think about what i wanted to do. Once i decided to sell, the home report and photos were done a few days later. Once the photos were done, the ad was online the same day within an hour and i had my first viewing booked in within 20 mins. Nina, Laura, Nicole and Patricia have been great keeping me updated along the way from start to finish. i couldn’t recommend Countrywide enough. Fantastic staff and even better service
