I would strongly advise anyone considering Countrywide Estate Agents to think very carefully before using them. My experience selling my flat through them was extremely stressful and disappointing, and the service fell far below what I expected from a professional estate agency. My sale collapsed twice due to mortgage issues related to the property’s construction type (Mitchell Camus concrete). This is a known issue with certain lenders, and an experienced estate agent should understand this and ensure buyers are properly vetted and using appropriate lenders before progressing a sale. Unfortunately this basic due diligence did not appear to happen. Weeks were wasted while buyers applied to lenders that were unlikely to lend on this type of property, which resulted in unnecessary delays, uncertainty and a huge amount of stress. Communication throughout the process was also very poor. Updates were slow, vague, and I frequently had to chase repeatedly just to get basic information about what was happening. At several points it genuinely felt like I was doing more work myself, contacting lenders, researching mortgage options and trying to find solutions, rather than receiving proactive support from the agent I was paying. Selling a property is one of the most important financial transactions people make, and the level of professionalism and guidance I received fell far below expectations. Based on this experience, I have very little confidence in the professionalism and due diligence carried out by this branch. After everything that happened, I would never use Countrywide again and I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone looking to sell their home. I strongly encourage other sellers to carefully consider alternative estate agents before instructing them.

Sold my flat through the team at Countrywide North and was very happy with the service offered by Stuart, Paula, Max and Bobby. They were always on top of the game keeping me informed of developments and viewings. Stuart was very honest in telling me to get rid of the clutter in the flat before selling and it worked! Also they have great photographers who take proper photos for the advert which I'm sure helped attract more viewings. Overall great team and would recommend if you're looking to sell.

Requested the home report on a property over 5 times. Emailed was my situation (cash buyer, no chain) so vetting fully disclosed, but that wasn’t enough. Sent me a home report for a property I never requested, then they said if I wanted a home report I’d need to get my lawyer to put in an offer and supply them with my bank statements. I think if sellers knew this company was treating potential buyers like this, they would be pretty upset. My advice is go with another agent - Keys Estate Agency a few doors down is fab.

I have emailed separately with a full complaint but the short version is: Once Countrywide had secured me as a client I no longer received the good service I had enjoyed at the start. My main complaint is that I was not given independent mortgage advice AT ALL. I was only offered mortgages from Halifax despite there being better rates available which I found myself online. I understand now that the broker will have received a bonus payment from Halifax. I paid £500 for "independent financial advice" which I did not receive. I was also recommended extremely expensive home insurance, life insurance and critical illness cover, once again all from one company so a commission would likely have been earned from this. Halifax did not send my mortgage documentation. I received no apology and ultimately the purchasing of my property was delayed by a fortnight because of this which was an inconvenience for all parties involved. The broker did not offer at any stage to explain the mortgage offer to me despite it actually saying this should always be done in the accompanying booklet from Halifax. I have been left feeling a little cheated and unsure what I'm paying so much money for. I really don't normally complain, but since talking to a couple of friends and family who have bought property themselves recently with good independent advice, I don't think my experience was the norm. I'd like to know what Countrywide would say their £500 fee is for.
