GoogleVery poor experience and I'd be concerend if I was letting property through this agent.
As a contractor I was asked by the owner of the property to assess some potential works to their property. It had been set up by the owner that the agent 'Countrywide' would meet me at the property and allow me to carry out a survey for the work invloved.
On the survey date I then received a call from countrywide to say that they couldnt make it and I'd need to come into the branch to collect keys.
I went into the branch and they didnt know who I was or why I was there but they didnt seem to care either. Very disorganised, poor service but worst of all no security checks were done!
I was in normal clothing ( Not work uniform ) I could have been anyone, they did not ask me who I was or what I needed the keys for. They just gave out keys freely.
I could have been anyone and I know that if this was my home and my family's safety that was being compromised by giving keys out unchecked and freely I'd be really concerend.

Hi Tommy, thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you feel your experience with Countrywide was not a good one. We take security checks very seriously and having checked the property notes we were aware you were coming in for the keys as the landlord had informed us, you arrived in your work branded van and identified yourself when you came into the office. There was never an appointment made to meet you at the property as that is not our procedure, contractors always collect keys from the branch. However, your ID should have still have been checked, as per company procedure, so I apologise that this wasn’t done. We have now implemented staff training to make sure this doesn’t happen again.Thank you for your review, Branch Manager

GoogleRented a flat from Countrywide (then Merchant Lettings) and can safely say that I will never be going through them again. It took 3 months to get the contract signed for the property which was mostly due to a lack of clarity at the start of the process of what was needed from us.
The company is far from transparent meaning that getting anything sorted in the property means going through about 3 or 4 different subsidiary companies of Countrywide with no-one ever taking responsibility for the work being done.
Just a nightmare to deal with. Avoid at all costs!

GoogleI've used Countrywide (West End) to find a new tenant for a recently vacated property. Not only did they find one within a week but when illness prevented them from taking up the property they found another with a further couple of weeks. The tenant has turned out to be pleasant, reliable and good at looking after our flat. I was kept informed all throughout and a potentially stressful time was extremely well managed. I will certainly continue to use Countrywide.

GoogleI was recommended to use Countrywide to carry out the sale of my house after a very long time with another agency and no success. The difference in professionalism and ability was immediately clear.
After a fair evaluation of the property i was handed over to Nicole who managed the marketing and sale of my property very well. i had a good uptake in viewings almost immediately and i was kept up to date getting feedback regularly.
after some expected up's and down's i had an offer after 3-4 months and Nicole worked hard in keeping the offer in line with my expectations.
I live 200 miles away from the property so the good communication and flexibility shown by Countrywide all through the process was a great advantage for me.
I would recommend there services to anyone.

GoogleI purchased my new home from Countrywide in Hamilton and was very impressed with the very professional and friendly service. I then decided to sell my old home through Countrywide too and was not disappointed by the consistently high levels of service I experience when buying.
Though I have spoken to a number of very polite and helpful people in the Hamilton office, my main point of contact was with Nicole. Who has made the selling process smooth, simple, stress free and has also provided me with a high level of communication at every step. The communication was the highlight of the service I received from the Hamilton office, as it made me feel that my property was being actively promoted and that I was in control of all the facts and kept up to date with all the information regarding viewings and any related feedback.
Highly recommended for people who want high levels of communication and activity from their property agents.

GoogleQuoted us a thousand pounds for their fees at the start....demanded almost nineteen hundred in the end:got the valuation wrong (I thought this was the main part of their job):by ten thousand pounds ; charged four hundred pounds upfront before they even STARTED the selling process "for advertising"...and talked my son (inexperienced in dealing with dlossy boys and con tricks) into using their own extortionate cronies to do the Home Valuation Report. Stay away fromthis lot. They have nothing to recommend them.Next time,we'll sell online....ourselves.

GoogleTook forever to get my lease application sorted. I found at times they were completely unprofessional in not returning calls, pretending to be on lunch break at 10am, and the quite common "oh our computer system is down, so call back later" which seems to happen throughout the day.

GoogleI have been a landlord for 10 years. Last year the agency I used was taken over by Countrywide Residential Lettings since the takeover Countrywide have been appalling, I have had Sheriffs Court letters issued through non payment of bills (sent to Countrywide) they consistently send correspondence to the wrong place. I have spent more time over the past year dealing with their incompetence than I had in all the previous 9 years. Everything is dealt with by separate offices or departments who never talk to each other. Damage was caused to my property which was noted by the tenants on moving in but not communicated to me by Countrywide, so when they moved out I was left with the bill. Carpets I had renewed 18 months previously have just been changed again due to Countrywide incompetence. And to cap it all they released my tenants deposit and then told me they hadn't paid the last months rent. Unprofessional, incompetent and to be avoided at all costs.

GoogleAvoid at all cost. They didn't have a clue what was going on at our flat. Their inventory was out of date, charge us for work that hadn't been carried out. Took months to return send part of deposit after tenant left with rent outstanding and deducted cleaning cost but left the flat dirty. I could go on!

GoogleThis is the second time that I have used the City Living branch of Countrywide to sell a home and the second time that I have been really glad that I did so.
As you would expect, I had the usual visits from several Estate Agents based in and around the city centre of Glasgow, but have to say that from the first moment that I spoke with Nicola and her team, I was confident that they had a clearer understanding of the market and a much more realistic approach to managing my expectations.
Selling your home can be a fraught experience, especially in the current economic climate. Nicola and her team kept me abreast of feedback from viewers in a timely fashion and I believe they did everything in their power to promote my property in as targeted a fashion as possible.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Nicola and her team. With a market which is so changeable, you really need people who are at the top of their game to make sure that they are achieving the best possible price - you need Nicola at Cityliving.

GoogleBy far the worst letting agency I have ever encountered.
I was a tenant of Merchant Lettings who Countrywide have now absorbed. They got my rent mixed up with another tenants of the same name and hounded me for months for rent that I'd already paid. It didn't stop until I sent in bank statements proving the money had left my account in to theirs.
AND THAT'S NOT THE WORST.....
I have severe allergies and asthma and when the kitchen ceiling collapsed, I thanked God I was renting and that it was someone else's responsibility to deal with. HOWEVER....... The following occurred:
1. It took over a month before any work started at all!
2. When it did, it was causing mess and disruption to the entire flat (even though i'd called, advised of my allergies and asked that all the other room doors be closed and taped shup to prevent filth spreading.)
3. The mess was horrific and no one came to clean it up - it was all left to me. I mean what's the point of renting if you are still left with all the hassle? I had to end up paying for a professional cleaning company that specialise in this type of clean up at the cost of £200, which they refused to reimburse. The owner of the flat was annoyed too, as she had asked them to be respectful
4. The previous tenant at my flat left owing money to utilities firms. I showed them my lease proving that i was not in the flat at the time, but the company has requested that the branch manager at Countrywide write a letter also confirming my date of entry. A simple task you'd think? Well no - she has refused and said it's nothing to do with her.
At present, I have just sent off a complaint letter to the property services ombudsman - I am hoping they will give them a boot up the behind!
As a result, my partner and I .are moving out of the flat we love as soon as we are able, just to get away from Countrywide. They are a nightmare

GoogleWho needs “Kirsty and Phil” when you have Nicola at Countrywide Estate Agents selling your house. Nicola and the team at Countrywide have sold 2 of my flats in the past 2 years. The service they provided was second to none and very personable. They gave me lots of guidance before the flats went on sale, and as a result the flats sold in 1 Month of going on the market. They are also good at providing recommendations in different areas if you are then looking to bye. In my eyes, the complete package.

GoogleI began renting a flat with Merchant Lettings who were subsequently bought over by Countrywide. Quite simply, avoid this company completely. Their staff are unhelpful and extremely rude. The way I was spoken to on the phone was ridiculous, particularly by the staff at the Springfield Court office.
The only time we heard from them was when they wanted more money from us. They tried to increase our rent with no justification after a year. When we confronted them about it and asked them to present a case for the increase, they backed down. Our flat was burgled and they offered little help or assistance. One particular member of staff must have been deputised by Strathclyde Police as she spent more time on the phone questioning me about how the burglars had got in rather than helping with the aftermath. Also, I had to fight with them to get an additional lock put on the door. They way the handled the check out was very unprofessional to say the least and we were charged 60 pounds for cleaning the flat back to a higher standard than we received it.
My advice if you have to deal with them is to be as meticulous and picky with the inventory as possible because they look for anything to charge for at check out.
The landlord of the flat we had was in the process of moving all 6 of his properties away from Countrywide at the time of us moving due to the poor service.
I will never deal with this mob again.

GoogleCurrently have my property managed by the girls at Countrywide Lettings and they have been nothing short of great!
I recently moved to England for work and had to move out of my current property and with a sale not looking likely I thought I would try renting for the first time. The manager in the office explained everything to me over the phone and Rachel came out to have a chat with me that reaally put me at ease from the word go. In fact the girls have taken care of everything for me and have kept me informed throughout the entire lettings process. I advertised my property with them in November and was surprised when I received a phone call from one of the girls to tell me that they had let my property in just two weeks and that a tenant was to move in before Xmas!
The experience so far has been great and I would not hesitate to recommend the office to any of my friends and family.
Thanks girls!!!

GoogleI used the Kersland St office when I was moving from the East End to the West End of Glasgow. It was very close to the festive period and I had a limited time to find a flat for my new job. The staff here not only found me a wonderful, affordable, flat on Kew Terrace but they also ensured all of my paperwork was clearly defined and collected without pressure or confusion. The move in was hassle-free and they were always on hand to answer questions or provide contact with my new Landlord when I had concerns.
They have been an absolutely fantastic agency to deal with and the West End staff were incredibly helpful leading up to, and ultimately with, my moving in. I have been fortunate that no problems have ever arisen in my time here so my contact with them since then has been very limited. However, in my final few weeks at Kew Terrace I know they will still be offering the same fantastic level of service.
It has been a wonderful experience and when I come to rent (or buy) in the future I will certainly be looking towards this Countrywide Scotland Lettings office.
