I had a very disappointing experience with Countrywide Scotland Sales and Letting. I booked a property viewing at 10:00 at 11 Cumberland Place and even received a message the night before around 8:00pm asking me to confirm the appointment, which I did. Based on that, I took time off work to attend. However, at the last moment, I was informed that the appointment was cancelled because the property had already been reserved. This is extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. If the property was already reserved, why was I asked to confirm just hours before? This clearly shows poor organisation and lack of communication within the team. There seems to be very little respect for customers’ time and commitments. I would not recommend their service based on this experience.

Everything ran so smoothly and easily from start to finish. Noticed property as soon as it was listed, contacted Countrywide and viewing arranged as soon as poslsible (thanks Fiona). Our daughter was able to make first viewing, second viewing arranged, again as soon as possible. Small, but important issues noticed during viewings relayed to landlord and most important rectified as before we picked up keys. All communications, phone & email from we confirmed we were keen on tenancy for the property were dealt with same day and made the whole process very simple and easy - Thank you very much Amy Mailley.

I would strongly advise anyone considering Countrywide Estate Agents to think very carefully before using them. My experience selling my flat through them was extremely stressful and disappointing, and the service fell far below what I expected from a professional estate agency. My sale collapsed twice due to mortgage issues related to the property’s construction type (Mitchell Camus concrete). This is a known issue with certain lenders, and an experienced estate agent should understand this and ensure buyers are properly vetted and using appropriate lenders before progressing a sale. Unfortunately this basic due diligence did not appear to happen. Weeks were wasted while buyers applied to lenders that were unlikely to lend on this type of property, which resulted in unnecessary delays, uncertainty and a huge amount of stress. Communication throughout the process was also very poor. Updates were slow, vague, and I frequently had to chase repeatedly just to get basic information about what was happening. At several points it genuinely felt like I was doing more work myself, contacting lenders, researching mortgage options and trying to find solutions, rather than receiving proactive support from the agent I was paying. Selling a property is one of the most important financial transactions people make, and the level of professionalism and guidance I received fell far below expectations. Based on this experience, I have very little confidence in the professionalism and due diligence carried out by this branch. After everything that happened, I would never use Countrywide again and I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone looking to sell their home. I strongly encourage other sellers to carefully consider alternative estate agents before instructing them.

After trying a few estate agents and not feeling enough enthusiasm from them, I tried Countrywide who I’d originally bought the property from in 2018. I explained to them that I had an unusual loft-style duplex to sell and I wanted a young, modern and keen team to sell it for me. Chris and Kieran jumped at the opportunity and we became friends in the process. I needed a fast timeline and they stayed completely organised, but light hearted along the way. If you're a landlord and want to rent out your apartment, I don't recommend it. In Scotland, the entire system favors tenants. Furthermore, there's a significant problem with tenants refusing to vacate in this country. You'll not only lose money but also a lot of peace of mind, and no one will help you. Similarly, buying to let isn't a good business; you'll be charged a lot in taxes and management fees.
