Shocking. If you are a tenant, do not use this agency. Find another letting agent. Their customer service is absolutely shocking - they are arrogant, unhelpful, they will intrude on your privacy, and will take months to deal with any repair issues that you report to them - (and you will have to follow up about 20-30 times to make sure they actually do something about the problem. Today I reported a gas leak in the house, a National Grid engineer had confirmed the gas leak, and it was making me very ill. I tried multiple times to reach the woman at Charters who is responsible for maintenance, but every time I tried to reach her, I was told she had higher priority problems to deal with, and that she would call me back at some point when she had time. It didn't seem that the person who answered the phone had any idea about how dangerous gas leaks are - and when I asked her, she became very rude, arrogant, and treated me as though I was a low priority nuisance. Planning to hand in my notice today on the property after this experience.They are the WORST agency I have come across. I was actually planning to buy a property this year, and I definitely will avoid any properties listed for sale by Charters.

Charters had a remarkably poor post-sale service, caused damage to the property during the sales process, referred unqualified and substandard surveying through their Trinity Rose arm. They then lie about being connected, and lie throughout the sale completion process. They drag out the sales process and abuse their client data - selling it to numerous other organisations despite an explicit instruction to the contrary. Very poor service and unethical practice - and been referred to the Ombudsman.

Back in October we gave instructions to Charters of Alresford to sell our house. Tim Griffin thought that an Open Day would be the way to go for us and not to have any viewings before that. 17 days later, in the pouring rain, Tim showed 9 couples around the house and 3 days after that we had had four extremely good offers and the sign outside out house changed to Sold (subject to contract)!! We moved 78 days later! The service we received from Charters was not only excellent but friendly, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We have recently exchanged on a new build property that has been sold through Charters of Winchester and the advice, support and general contact and information has been fantastic from the day we offered. Fiona showed us around our future house (that was a building site when we saw it) 6 months ago and form that day until exchange in June has always been on the end of the phone keeping us up to date and informed of how everything is progressing. Fiona has managed to liaise between us and the developer over the last 6 months to make some minor changes to the house that has resulted in us getting our dream home. I have no doubt that without her help and support we would not be in the position we are now; about to move into our lovely new property! What a team and what great service! The team at Charters have acted for me in both selling and letting properties and both experiences have been outstanding! When marketing a property for sale they manged to secure a buyer at full asking price ( At a price I thought to be a little ambitious!) within 24 hours of being instructed. A refreshing experience to have an agent being pro active! On the lettings side they recently took over a property from another agent, not only did they find a new tenant that moved in within three days of the old tenant vacating they also manged to secure 10% more rent than I was previously getting. Fantastic best describes my experience of Charters.
