We went with brown and merry to sell our house because they came up as the best estate agents in Hemel with a fast turn around. When it came to selling, viewings were limited, but nevertheless the house sold because we didn’t want to loose out on the property we wanted. Thereafter, communication was limited. No updates, no phone calls, no one bothered to call us back. Any update on our sale was coming from our purchase estate agents. Overall, really poor service from brown and merry and really unprofessional. We have sold our house and moved into our new house but the overall experience was not pleasant. Did not make us feel comfortable or reassurance us in any kind of way.

Wanted to say a huge thank you to Henry Smith for helping us secure our dream rental home! When I fell in love with a rental online that had no viewing slots left, he took the time to move things around and find a way to squeeze us in which I am so grateful for. He stayed patient and friendly (even when I called the office for the 100th time asking for updates) and he helped organise a meet-and-greet so we could introduce our dog to the landlord. Renting with a dog is never easy and this was a great idea to help show her nature and temperament. We contacted Brown & Merry back in November 2024 to sell the property we love in Berkhamsted for a bigger one else where. We were under a stricter time line with vendors in the chain wanting to move before May. Before our property had its open day they found us a buyer, which was a first time buyer. With the 31st deadline and a baby born just before it, the whole situation was stressful enough. Sadly the property we was buying was being managed by a clown show of an estate agency and our fixed chain of 3 become 5 in no time without letting us know. Amir the branch manager for the Berko Branch, went above and beyond to take on the role of managing the whole chain. Keeping us updated at all times and in the end helping us find a removal company at the last minute before the deadline. We are lucky in Berkhamsted that property is so demand so when it comes to choosing an Estate Agent it really comes down to who you trust to get a great price, and see you through the ups and downs of process. We chose Brown and Merry because they genuinely stood out as being the most proactive, straightforward and people focused agent and that proved to be true the whole way through. Not only were we very happy with how our property was marketed, the sale and buyer we secured, they were also incredibly supportive and communicative the whole way through our onward purchase managing various challenges through the chain, and keeping our buyer on the journey for this (we bought through another agent- but I often found myself using Amir and Lucy for trusted advice). I was also very pleased with the sols they recommended. Aside from the professional advice, the whole office are just really nice people - they got the demands of selling and buying with a young family and I always felt like we were put first and not just a sale. We recently purchased our first home through Brown & Merry Berkhamsted and Charlie , Amir and Sarah were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Searching for a house you deal with a lot of different agents and they were by far the most professional. Special thanks to Charlie who showed us around multiple properties in the area, was refreshingly transparent and honest about all of them, and really took the time to understand what we were looking for - a real credit to the company. This meant when he called and said something perfect for us was about to come on the market, we knew it would be worth viewing immediately - He got us in before anyone else, and it was exactly what we wanted and more - no doubt we wouldn't have found our house without him. We first used Sarah Bennet to help us with our mortgage nearly six years ago now to buy our first home and she was fantastic! So knowledgeable, patient and so supportive. When we decided to move again we went straight back to her without hesitation. Even before our property was on the market, she helped us understand what we could borrow and talked us through our options. She’s always happy to help, no matter how early or uncertain things feel. When we made offers on new properties, estate agents kept recommending their own brokers but we never considered using anyone else. We’ve had such a great experience with Sarah that we only trust her. When our buyer dropped out, she calmly rechecked all the mortgage options, helped us rework our deposit and took a huge amount of stress off our shoulders. She explains everything clearly, has endless patience and is genuinely so lovely to speak to. Even up until exchange she was checking in if we needed help with anything and checking we’re still on the best mortgage rate. She even emailed our solicitors to chase everything through and answer a question we were asked about porting our mortgage and early repayment charges. We honestly couldn’t recommend her more highly. Excellent service from Brown and Merry with selling our house. Tom and Evie came to give the valuation and we were very impressed with their knowledge and efficiency. It’s a non-standard construction house and so no mortgages available and only cash buyers can buy however an open day was arranged within the first few weeks and we had multiple viewings. Anita and Tom kept us well informed about the viewings and then the offers, only giving us the ones where the buyer actually had the cash to buy. Tom then discussed with us the options which was very helpful and we sold and completed within two months.
