I visit this place about once a week, the staff are nice and helpful - to a point. But my issue with the place is they never have enough trolleys and they often only have one lift working. This leads to long delays and squabbles amongst the customers over the trolleys!! They only have 6 large trolleys there, and they insist they don't have room for more, as if!! Why they don't buy more trolleys is beyond me, its like they don't want to help their customers at all. Ridiculous.

I never started using it. They surprised me with an extra £2/week for insurance. That is like £104/year. Too high a insurance for their smallest locker room - especially when the things you store does have less value.

Having used Big Box 4 years ago on our last downsize project I was amazed at the difference at Big Yellow. Not only did I get treated like I was a welcome customer, but the staff member who handled our enquiry had listening skills too, and managed to suit all of our requirements including price by actually talking to us. I didn't bother to go away and get another quote. None of the things I list now apply at Big Box. The storage unit and corridors are well lit, and warm. The electronic door entry and exit system is excellent and means our individual unit is alarmed not just the whole warehouse. The staff make eye contact and smile. The process is fast and sensible. The price is right. Well done Big Yellow!

I think it's a good system. I would really like the extras like the padlock and the insurance to be highlighted in BOLD pre-booking in but, overall it's good. In fact the real problem is other people. So many stupid questions make checking in difficult. Anyhoo, overall it's pretty good.

Big Yellow in Bow were clearly under a lot of pressure on a Saturday a few weeks before the start of the Olympics. While I had registered online in advance, I had to queue when I got there, but my man and van managed to unload the van onto the trolleys in the meanwhile - so I didn't really lose any time.Yes, you can save money by buying a padlock in advance (they sell them for about £15), but Big Yellow are pretty clear about that up front. All in all, for short term storage (under 4 weeks), I think it's a decent service at a reasonable price.

First time using this company. Over the phone - Great! In store - Terrible! From the moment we entered the receptionist was disgraceful. Stinking attitue and argumentative. Emailed customer services with a complaint and was told I would hear from the manager at Bow. Obviously still waiting to hear back from them weeks after. Let down and will not be using them again!

Overall it was a good experience, the facilities are modern and staff was polite. The only slight problem was that I brought a Royal Mail redirection confirmation letter as proof of address but the person signing me up was insisting that I need a bank statement even when I explained that I have pretty much everything only electronically. Eventually after minutes of pleading and a colleague coming over it was accepted and everyone was happy :)

we've recently had the eviction notice for our private rented home as the landlord wants to sell and due to myself being made to take sick leave from work for a few months we lived on our savings which left us with no money to up and move into a new home and with no help from the council were having to move in with parents with two children, we have a whole house of stuff that obviously wouldn't fit in the parents house so we've arranged to rent a unit from Big Storage Chester, and I must say the service of the staff there has been exceptional and we've been made very educated on how it all works, this has been from one member of staff in particular, Leah from the Chester branch. Moving house is always a stressful time - especially if you need to store some furniture before completing your move. I'd never put household effects into storage before and had no idea of what to expect. My emails were answered promptly and provided all the details in a straight forward un-complicated way. When I arrived with my van load of furniture I received a calm, professional and courteous reception - just the thing to settle you down during a busy day. The depot is immaculate and I was at once confident that my treasured possessions would be secure and safe. All this plus the most favourable price I could find with serious comparisons via the internet! I cannot sing the praises high enough for Big Yellow Storage - and recommend them to anyone as professionals who provide an excellent service.
