GoogleWe turned up without an appointment today and were helped by Tracy, she set us up with a 50 sq ft container and walked us through the process, then took us up to our storage area. Big yellow seems organised and the storage area is clean and secure. Tracy was so helpful and really a delight to deal with.

GoogleI’ve used this location for over 7 years now and can’t say enough good things about them. Clean and well lit location with lots of options when it comes to unit sizes. We’ve changed sizes a few times and they’ve always made the transition easy. Friendly staff (with very little turnover in that timeframe which also says good things about company) and they have made technology advances without any difficult steps. Close to airport, recycling centre and some nice hotels which really helps if moving away and need access to items when back in town.

GoogleTracey at Edinburgh big yellow @bankhead road, was super helpful and very friendly. The computer was a bit slow but the staff can’t be held accountable for that. Told us about the app which will be very helpful . All very painless and efficient.

GoogleOur first experience of using self-storage. We are moving house, and the new build is not ready. Such is life. Emma guided us carefully through the procedure in a very professional manner, told us of the options and helped us register. She showed us the room to be sure that it was big enough and how to check in and out.. All in all, a relatively painless experience! Glad we chose Big Yellow!

GoogleI moved most of the contents of our London flat into Big Yellow storage in Edinburgh. Everything was organised remotely by Emma and Gillian in advance of the move. I found both very understanding and helpful. We were given after hours access as we were not arriving until after the facility had closed on a Sunday. The instructions were very clear and I could not have been happier.

GoogleOur first time using Big Yellow and we were very pleased with how it went. Gill was very helpful and informative when we arrived to drop off our possessions. We used it for three weeks and the price was very good. Very clean and tidy storage spaces. Overall would highly recommend.

GooglePLEASE PLEASE do your research on storage places before you commit to the bigger storage companies. Wish I had been given a bit of advice before we moved a 3 bed house worth of items into Big Yellow. Things worth knowing ahead of committing: 1. Find your own storage contents insurance and have it set up before you move your stuff in. If you don’t, they will insist you take on their insurance on the day you move your things in. Their insurance is a ridiculous monthly cost which we ended up paying for a few months until we found our own. There are quite a few good storage insurance companies around. Make sure they cover vermin - this is what a lot of normal contents insurance don’t cover. Once we had found a much more reasonable insurance company - we went to cancel the insurance with Big Yellow and miraculously they were able to match our new quote and sold us a yarn about how it would be easier to stick with their insurance! Why was it so expensive in the first place? 2. Regular unit price increases - we were given a good deal by John the manager when we moved it. But within 5 months of us having our storage with Big Yellow - they put the prices of the units up. They do this by email, and on a weekly basis so it doesn’t seem much. But when you add it up, it amounts to quite a lot over a year. When I asked Gill about it and explained that we had only been with them for 5 months - she said she’d see what she could do for us but nothing was ever done and she eventually ignored my emails to her on the matter. Then later in the year just before Xmas we received another price increase on our units (by now we had two) - so two fare increases in space of 1 year! I contacted them again about it and asked if they could provide a list of intended dates for price increased so we could prepare our finances for the increases - to which they never responded... I followed up a few times and though they were speaking to me about other matters, they never address my queries on this. The only thing Gill told me was that I had supposedly had a good discount - 41.6666% percent (to be exact!) on our units in the first place! So they way I see it is that they get you in on a supposedly good deal initially and then hike up the prices over the year. Please don’t be fooled. In the end, we hired removal guys and took our storage to a family run business - we have a lovely secure new unit the same size combining the 2 units we had a Big Yellow, for literally a fraction of the price. We are paying £85 a month, with no twice yearly price increases when I think we were paying over £300 a month at big yellow.

GoogleI was having to book storage for my deceased mothers belongings till I decided what to do with them. I dealt with Gillian who was amazing, she gently explained all my options and let me know I had flexibility as I was not really sure what I was storing, selling or skipping. She was very empathetic but chatty and calming, I feel like a weight has been lifted today.
