Reeds Rain York branch avoid at…

Reeds Rain York branch avoid at all costs whether a landlord or tenant. Terrible customer service, lied to on multiple occasions, they will attempt to milk fees from commissions on maintenance work the tenant hasn't requested. They are now refusing to return the tenants deposit where there is a dispute between Reeds Rain and the landlord (I.e nothing to do with the tenant). Tenants beware....!

Inhabitable

As soon as you’ve paid your deposit and started paying rent, you won’t get much communication from them. It is basically Impossible to get any maintenance work done - we were left with leaks, mould, lights not working, carpet ripping up, drafts and more. It takes almost a year to get someone to come and look at the problems, then nothing is done despite chasing every day. You ring and email daily but get no response.Glad to be out of there. We were once without a working boiler for over 2 weeks in December. It took me threatening legal action for them to follow some sort of protocol. Even then we were passed around different people who didn’t seem to know how to handle the problem. It gets to the point where it is just unsafe. And after all that, the landlord took the whole deposit to buy a new front door which was not like for like. The property had a lot of potential but it’s not well managed at all.

We received excellent support from Reeds Rains throughout the process of finding a house to buy in Durham, up to moving into the one we eventually bought. While searching and viewing, Tony Hunter and his colleagues at Reeds Rains were very responsive and quick in organising views. They were equally helpful during negotiations with the seller when we decided to make an offer, and when we had to react to concerns raised in the survey report, balancing the interests of both parties. Once we bought it, they remained extremely helpful in liaising with the seller for the small issues that always arise, and in keeping our keys for the contractors we hired to do work required before we could move in. In summary, highly experienced and attentive people who offer a five-star service, which I am very happy to recommend.
