I found a property with this company (Brown and Merry Estate Agents in Milton Keynes ) for £1800 a month. I gave them a call and we booked an online viewing. I showed interest in the property and it was agreed that I paid £438 as holding deposit to take the property off the market. However, 30 minutes after paying the holding deposit, I received a call from one of the agents to say that there was a mistake in price and that the landlord wanted more money for the property and the property was now going for £1900. While I was trying to get my head round the situation, I saw that the price online had changed to £1950 instead of the 1900 that the agent had told me. What is more upsetting for me is that, I still have not received a refund from this company despite the many calls I have made to them and today marks one weeks since my transaction with Brown and Merry in Milton Keynes. I find the reaction of the agents I have called to ask for my money bizarre and I am starting to think that my money is used to make interest before finally releasing it to me (if they do) likewise many other people who have been in similar situation. Customers beware of these estate agents.
