TrustpilotSpaces has shady & abusive billing practices
Spaces has been a truly horrible experience. They used shady billing practices by:1. Lying about how to cancel my account online (when my account didn’t have the option to cancel). 2. The email for help desk always bounces back (even though their automated email states to use that address). 3. Never transferring me to a manager or billing to talk to a human.4. Continuing to charge late fees on top of late fees even though I keep requesting them to cancel my account. 5. Incredibly rude staff who refuses to help you. Except for Joselyn in Irvine. She genuinely tried to help. But Spaces is so abusive as a company it didn’t matter anyway. If you need a co-working space I encourage you to look elsewhere & not get caught in their web.

Hi Camille, thank you for reaching out. We do not have “shady & abusive billing practices”; we work hard to ensure full transparency in our invoicing process and ensure any issues have been clarified before an agreement is signed.Ending your membership is a simple process; you should simply log into your online account and click on Accounts > Products > End Agreement. It’s surprising to hear that this process did not work for you.I confirm that your agreement ended on 31st October 2022.You can reach out to our account helpdesk team by raising a query via online account ‘Help’ section; they will be happy to assist you with any queries that you may have.I have reviewed your account and noticed that the invoice for your final month of membership had a due date of September 15 and was not paid until November 30; This caused the late payment fee you refer to.If you require further assistance, you are welcome to contact me at Lorraine.brule@spacesworks.com.Best regards, Lorraine Brule Global Customer Service at Spaces

TrustpilotShocking deterioration in the service & poor value for money
Shocking deterioration in the service, client care and value for money provided by Spaces in Teddington. The service levels have been degrading for several years, rents have been going up, they charge a load of hidden extras and stitch you up commercially. The Regus Management have zero interest in resolving problems and supporting the Centre staff, who keep leaving as it's such a thankless task.I have been a tenant for over 5 years at Spaces Teddington and spent almost a £100,000 and introduced in the early years a number of other companies who became tenants so you would have thought I'd get some loyalty and they'd be prepared to listen to the complaints and act on feedback. I got nothing and promises to get back to me never materialised.I've now left and droves of other businesses have left or are leaving as it is such poor value for money and a poor environment for both the tenants and the visitors they bring in.If you're thinking about taking up a lease there, think twice. Or get in touch with me - 0740 729 2339 - and I'll share with you why you might be better off looking at one of the alternatives, who are markedly better than Spaces / Regus. Or ask one of the existing tenants.Somewhere along the line, Regus have lost the plot and their customers are suffering as a result.

Hi Sanjiv, thank you for reaching out.We understand that you have several frustrations which have been discussed with you already, but I recognise that the cause of your complaint is related to the office restoration service. The office restoration service is a part of your agreement. This service is provided to all our customers to save time and money, along with the frustration of dealing with multiple outside vendors such as IT & phone technicians. When you moved into your office, we ensured it was all in working order and ready for use. However, an additional deep cleaning is required as the state of the office when you left requires more than the standard service.I have immediately asked the manager of your centre to look into this as a priority. She is currently in touch with you and is working closely on the resolution to your concern.Regards, Lorraine BruleHead of Customer Services at Spaces

TrustpilotHorrible
Horrible! Awful!!! It took me more than a month to clear the unnecessary payment they sent to my account for about £1000. The conditions were good, but the invoice process and sales were horrible. I would not use it because of that. The stuff is nice to you, but the most important thing is to help you choose the best option the company has to offer you. I got the worst price and they still haven't sent me the refund. And when I asked for a receptionist and then a sales why I got these invoices, they told me - we can't do anything. You should contact support. It is generated automatically. And they would responded in 5 business days. And if you have another question, you'll need 5 more days to get an answer back. And what they did, they said to me, check because it is like it was in the invoices. It was like talking with robots. They were useless. I was so tired, that I gave up!!! Horrible!!! And still negotiating with them! Awful!!

Hi Maria, I’m sorry if you felt the need to escalate this. When you processed your termination on 1 August, you selected the option to request the business continuation service. This was therefore included on the next month’s cycle and the invoice was raised on 31 August. You contacted the account helpdesk on the evening of 1 September to flag that you didn’t mean to select this and a credit note was raised for this on 4 September; only 1 business day had passed and the credit note was processed on a Sunday, so we feel that it is hugely unfair that you claim “It took me more than a month to clear the unnecessary payment”. There was an anomaly on the account for a smaller amount that you flagged on 7 September and we raised credit notes for this and confirmed this to you on the same day. The account currently has a 0 balance with no open cases in our systems so we believe that, contrary to your complaint, there is nothing still pending. If you have any other concerns related to this please contact me directly on michelle.spire@spacesworks.com.Kind Regards, Michelle SpireAssistant Global Customer Service at Spaces

Signed up and for the first 2 days of my account (after paying 3 months up front for what is a monthly account) and did not have access. When I attempted to contact somebody I was informed there was no.account in my name and therefore could not be helped.I immediately demanded termination of my account and a refund of the £650 I paid the day before to be misdirected to different teams with nobody taking responsibility to own my complaint. It has now been 8 days and now my emails and communications are going igmored and unanswered.Woefully bad customer service and will be bringing to arbitration

Hi Ciaran, I’m very sorry to hear of your disappointment. I can confirm that there was a delay in the setup of your agreement of a few hours on the first day for which we apologise, however, since then it has been working correctly and the co-working desk is available for your use. Regarding being told that there was no account, you have two accounts with two different email addresses, only one of which has an agreement attached to it. When you contacted the account helpdesk you did so from an email address that is not linked to your co-working desk account. The agent gave you the correct information based on the account linked to the email address you used. I can also confirm that there has been an ongoing email conversation between you and the account helpdesk until recently; 8 days have not gone by without contact. We partner with our customers to help them run and grow their business, but we also have a business to run and cannot cancel agreements. I have asked the manager from the centre to contact you directly to resolve any outstanding issues and although she has tried to get in touch many times, she has received no answers to her calls or emails. Please reply to her if there is anything outstanding. Kind regards, Lorraine Brule Global Customer Service at Spaces

TrustpilotPoor customer service
Appalling customer service and similar to everyone else here - was practically harassed with emails when I was a potential customer but now can hardly get hold of anyone in Regus or Spaces no matter how hard I try. Finally got on the phone with the help desk after a receptionist gave me a number and the lady told me to log a ticket online and literally hung up on me.The help desk similarly is appalling. Absolutely no help and horrible customer service. They copy and paste answers to me and provide no other assistance.I signed up for a monthly coworking space and my contract was set to renew at the end of the year. The T&Cs state that monthly contracts require 1 month cancellation notice. This turned out to be not the case!Apparently my account is technically an annual account and required 3 months notice so I have now been charged for an extra YEAR despite me cancelling. I was given NO notice that my account was renewing - they simply charged my card without warning.Any response Ive gotten back from the help desk have been cold "you should have read the T&Cs closer" responses. Absolutely no care for their customers, only care about money. Any other company would have resolved this graciously and quickly. Instead I am spending my days emailing and calling trying to avoid paying £2000+ on a coworking desk I won't be using. I urge anyone reading this to avoid spaces and Regus at all costs. Looking through these reviews it seems I'm not the only one who have been stung by sneaky T&Cs and horrible customer service. UPDATE: Have received an email from their customer care team after posting this review who were very professional and friendly. They helped me resolve this issue. All credit to the customer care team. Main feedback to spaces still stands - account desk was no help and was very difficult to get in contact with anyone in the company.

TrustpilotA Nightmare - Avoid at all costs, especially if you're a small business
I truly wouldn't wish the Spaces cancellation experience on my worst enemy, it's wasted days of my time, and his given me many sleepless nights. Not only does Spaces/IWG/Regus make it truly impossible to end their service, they bombard you with random charges months after your contract is over. For example, I cancelled in early April, which of course means that I had to pay for the entirety of May as well. I won't even get in to that, because the real pain actually came this week (On Saturday, October 1st), when I received another invoice (9341-50809) for an entire month's worth of Spaces service, labelled "Administration Fee." Conveniently, Spaces actually created this invoice last month, but didn't send it to me until October 1st so that they could also charge me a $38 late fee. This is despite the fact that I have an email from Joanna G. from IWG (4 months ago, on June 15th) stating that after I paid my final month's rent, my account would end in good standing. I have no idea how that statement could possibly leave any room for interpretation or extra charges. The only thing I can think of is that they're charging me for credit disputes I did when Spaces somehow found a credit card I had never given them (possibly Visa updater) and charged it without my permission.Despite this, I now have an over $300 bill that I can't dispute because the Spaces help center/customer service truly DOES NOT EXIST. I have never been able to speak to a human being on the phone since I've had billing problems with Spaces, the phone line doesn't even have time estimates, a working call-back feature, or hold music. The help center on the website is even worse - consider yourself lucky if you get an email from someone overseas saying "we'll look into it one day". The most crushing part of this is that Spaces has the power to send this bill (or any bills that they want to charge me in the future) to collections or a law firm and affect my ability to rent or buy housing. LEARN FROM ME - THIS IS A RISK YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH SPACES, IWG, OR REGUS.I run a small business, so I have no idea how to budget for the upcoming months because Spaces can randomly charge me for anything they want. I don't want to pay this bill to make it go away, because it will signal to Spaces that they can charge me whatever they want whenever they want. I have no idea when it will stop or how to fight back, since I can't contact anyone that works there at all. I'm losing a lot of sleep over it, and honestly have no idea how to get this nightmare to stop. IF YOU'RE READING THIS AS A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, DO NOT IGNORE THIS POST OR THINK THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU. If you're reading this as a Spaces/IWG/Regus employee, please take a moment to remind yourself that there are actual human beings with emotions and mouths to feed and rents to pay on the other side of these invoices.

Hi Andrew, I’m sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. We’ve received great feedback for the quality of the service we provide and I’m truly sorry if you feel we have fallen short of the high standards which we set ourselves. We’ve made the termination process as simple as possible and whilst it’s preferable to submit the request through your online account we are able to accept written notice. Please understand that we need to receive advanced warning should you wish to end an agreement with us and this is clearly outlined in all of our agreements. It’s surprising that you feel that our customer service team does not exist. You have raised numerous queries with our account helpdesk which have all been promptly answered; including your query about administration fee. The fee is in relation to a chargeback from your card issuer. We refunded the payment you disputed but the same payment was also charged back. Because of the additional refund it was necessary to raise a new invoice. Whilst you may have been informed that there would be no further charges on your account our team member could not have foreseen this as the additional refund was not initiated by us. The invoice in question was raised on August 31st and has been available to view in your online account since them. It’s important to highlight that we cannot take payments without prior consent, it is illegal and impossible. Customers add their payment details themselves online and provide authorization at this stage. It is impossible for us to know your payment details unless you provide them.A member of the customer service team has contacted you directly to assist and if you need further support please feel free to contact me directly on Michelle.spire@spacesworks.com.Kind RegardsMichelle Spire Assistant Global Customer Service at Spaces

We are disappointed to see your 1 star review for us considering we have been dealing with matters you have been reporting to us and spent time liaising with the relevant contractor and the landlord and trying to reach a resolve to suit you. We are still in the process of trying to resolve the matter as your landlord initially refused to replace a functioning fridge due to a noise it is making but as you have expressed your issue with this, we are still seeking to reach an amicable resolve. We feel that considering the time we have spent on this matter and the communications we have been having with relevant parties, and considering the decision you require is not ours to make, it is the landlords, it seems unfair that the 1 star review reflects on us when we have had no control over the outcome. We fail to understand what more we could have done, or are still doing, to get a more favourable outcome and apologise that you feel otherwise.

After my review from last month (see below), I still didn't receive my money, what means I am waiting now for 4,5 months!! It is a shame. For 3,5 months now I am waiting to get my money refunded and to get a response or communication why it is not refunded yet.It is not only the deposit they still need to refund, but also an amount of around €250, they accidentally overcharged my creditcard. A mistake can happen, but not solving it is a shame. I have spend multiple emails, trying to get in contact with the accounting department, but without succes:- No one ever contacted me personally in these 3,5 months after I've asked to call me. - There is no answer to my questions, why after 3,5 months I do not have my money back.- They send emails you cannot reply- It takes at least 1 week, to send a general email back as response to my questions. This company does not want to service, only make money.

The only reason for the 1 star is the staff at the office where I work who are kind and helpful. But the company itself is terrible to do business with. They first tried to increase my contract at renewal time by 40%!! They then overcharged me for months and now I’m owed hundreds of dollars. NO ONE will call me back from the 8 emails I have sent. Completely incompetent account team. I am looking elsewhere for an office, but cannot leave until I get the money I am owed. Go to another place.UPDATE: Eventually someone called me and we spent 2 hours on the phone walking through the invoices. While I appreciate this was done and the woman who helped me was fantastic, 1) it should not have taken 7 months for someone to call me after repeated requests, 2) it took that long to weed through the billing (meaning it was that complex) and 3) no one explained when I signed the indexation, proration, add’l hidden charges (e.g., coffee, printing unless you manually deselect from your profile), and potential to significantly increase my renewal at the one year point. I will up my stars but still warn others to get full details of the charges that could be applied to your account upon signing.

TrustpilotDO NOT USE, NOT REGULATED
During COVID, like many, I lost 90% of my contracts and was subsequently not able to work. Spaces have been absolutely horrendous over the past two years. Let me give you some highlights:- First things first, they are not financially regulated- Took £1,200 the day before my rent came out despite us being in conversation to agree a payback on my contract- Whilst I was unable to pay for the first year, they activated an auto-renewal bringing the debt up to £7,300 from £3,300. - They use third parties for their reception so it's impossible to get through- They threatened me with court action despite never actually contacted me back All of this for a £200 a month hot desk. It isn't worth it.All in all, this is the most terrible company you could possibly work with. One star is a compliment.

Hello,I understand and appreciate that you’re disappointed, and would really like to help. We can only deduct funds if you have authorised automated payments. It is not unreasonable for us to deduct payment for services you have signed for and have been made available for you.We take renewals very seriously and to ensure that a customer’s service is not interrupted our agreements renew automatically if the termination has not been processed. Processing a termination is quick and easy and can be done through your online account. If a customer doesn’t terminate within the specified notice period, the agreement will automatically renew. Third parties are not used for our reception; the centre staff are employed by us and are available during working hours by phone, email or in person.I have spoken to the collections team who have confirmed that they emailed you on the 7 and 16 September 2020 and 11 and 13 October 2020 and recently spoke to you on the phone. TrustpilotAlways having issues with them
I have been using different offices in different cities, and while I like the flexibility, I have not been happy with the overall service. This has nothing to do with people at the reception, as some of them, in particular, have helped me multiple times. It is more that Spaces is not transparent with their prices, their invoicing system is confusing (and I was not explain this properly when I asked them at the beginning), and what you get largely depends from office to office (for example, some office offered me unlimited free coffee and tea and in some, I had to find out the hard way that I had to pay extra for the same). But my biggest issue is their paying system. I have been paying my monthly membership regularly and on time, every month following exactly their instructions. Yet, in the past 5 or 4 months, they keep having issues with my payment. And always a different issue! Every month, I have to go through customer service to prove that I have paid. Last month, I uploaded my payment proof directly on the portal and still, there was a problem. As I said, every month it's a different kind of problem, even though I'm paying the same way, following what is written in the invoice. It is such a waste of time and nerves. Finally, once I contacted their customer service regarding one of the payments they lost or couldn't see. The person on the other side did not understand my question and answered something that made no sense. When I answered that I have serious concerns regarding my account and membership, they just ghosted me. All in all, if you're a freelancer who is already managing every aspect of the business on your own, avoid Spaces and go to a coworking that is much more human and understanding.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Regardless of the reason, I understand how frustrating it can be and apologize if we haven’t provided you with the level of service that you expect and deserve from us. At Spaces, we work hard to ensure full transparency in our invoicing process. The monthly charges you can see on your invoice are made up of an advance rent payment plus payment for services in arrears. All your invoices are available in your online account (Account section) and they are payable no later than 15th of the month. We provide the coffee and tea service at a small monthly fee and if you need this service, you can always inform your local community team to opt it into your account. For the convenience of our customers, we have a fully automated payment system which has received good reviews. I’m sorry if you find it difficult.
