Our Estate Agent Ryan was very welcoming and informative which helped with the move. We agreed terms and paid the retainer on the house before even viewing, solely going off the videos and pictures provided online. This for me made me feel quite anxious about the move as I’m much more of a ‘touch, feel and see’ kinda guy when it comes to purchasing products and services but Ryan’s knowledge of the property details, past tenants and landlord made these worries soon fade away.

Avoid this appalling agency at all costs

Avoid this appalling agency at all costs. This was without doubt the worst experience with an estate agency I have ever had. Firstly, after paying the holding deposit to secure the property we sent all the required documents and heard nothing back for 2 months. Our move in date approaching and we had no idea if our “application” was accepted and whether we had to find a different property. We emailed and called Sian, the person in charge of our document handling process, various times with no response. Every time we called she wasn’t in office, and the secretary would promise she would get her to call back, a call that never happened. Eventually we had to go directly to the member of staff who deals with complaints CC him into the emails we were sending. Only then did we get a poor response trying to excuse ignoring our contact for 2 months. We then had to re-supply documents and essentially do Sian’s job of contacting references for her, even though we had supplied contact details as they requested. Various times they claimed to have been waiting for a response from our references, but in reality had only sent out the requests that same day. The level of incompetence was astounding. Finally, after getting through that gruelling process, we got everything signed off and moved in. This is when the degeneracy of this agency became even clearer. During our talks with Abbie, the agent who showed us the property, we made it clear we needed parking nearby or residents parking. Abbie used the phrase, and I quote, “It is very unlikely you’ll be able to get two permits. The landlord has said it depends on how many are issued. Best to enquire through the council directly. There are non-permit spaces on (name of nearby road) otherwise.” This made it sound as if it is very unlikely we’d get two permits, but there may be a chance we would get one. We tried to contact the council to find out, but you cannot make an application without currently being a resident or having the council tax information, so all of our information was based on what Abbie had told us. Upon moving in we applied for residents parking only to find out that there was never actually ANY chance we could get a permit, because during the planning permission stage the landlord had never applied for the property to have permits. The nearby parking mentioned has about 4 or 5 spaces on which are almost impossible to get a spot on, the rest of the parking is all residents. This means we have to fork out £60 a month for private parking about 15 minutes’ walk away. When complaining about this to the agency, they denied all responsibility because they never explicitly said we could get residents parking (despite suggesting it was possible). If you want an honest agency that actually cares about the needs of the tenants and don’t use sly turns of phrase to lie about the qualities of a property, then DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY.

Terrible for tenants

We rented a house through the JeffreyRoss Pontcanna branch back in March 2020. The problems began when there were maintenance issues and when we were given notice to move out due to the landlord wishing to sell the house.There was a tap leaking in the back garden which we reported and a plumber was supposed to come and fix it. Not only did the plumber not turn up twice (with no communication), he also turned up unannounced with no notice. When this was brought up with JeffreyRoss we were told in an email that 'in an ideal world' the plumber should have contacted us. They completely ignored the fact that legally you must give 24 hours notice for someone to come to your house. We reported multiple issues that were ignored, such as the garden fence being blown down in a storm.In March 2021 we were given notice to vacate as the landlord wished to sell the house. Despite being tenants with JeffreyRoss and struggling to find an alternative place to rent we were offered no assistance. We would get phone calls multiple times a week asking about viewings. This was difficult for myself and my partner as we were working from home a majority of our time due to the pandemic.It got to the point where I would give a date every two weeks for a large portion of the day to carry out viewings. I had hoped this would ease the issue but I would still get opportunist phone calls asking whether they could do a viewing, even with only a couple of hours notice. Even when we secured a new place and told them our moving out date I still had phone calls up to two days left of moving out asking for viewings.Since then it has been four weeks with no contact since moving out. Both myself and my partner have phoned trying to see whether the paperwork for the bond to be returned has been completed and despite reassurances that we would be contacted back we have heard nothing.Overall communication and quality of service has been very poor despite branding themselves as a 'high quality'. Would not recommend.
