Jeffrey Ross, Pontcanna Branch staff went above and beyond to make sure we could rent a flat in time to start a new job. Our circumstances were complicated and time was short, but Gemma, Ryan, Cody and Maria were so helpful and efficient that the whole process was turned around in a few days. As a landlord, I have had to undertake a significant amount of repairs and maintenance to my property and separately have encountered some very challenging tenants all of Jeffrey Ross has been very helpful in managing through. Special mention for Amanda May who has been incredibly helpful, diligent and professional in following up on many topics and issues. Amanda is highly responsive, always courteous and an excellent partner for a landlord. I have no hesitancy in providing her a five star rating and in recommending her to any other landlord.

Following the end of my last tenancy and In preparation for the new tenancy, I have been in contact with Kristy regarding all matters of Maintenance, property management, property upkeep and repair. My expectations have been exceeded, Kirsti's attention to detail is first class. From her overview of the checkout report and following up on essential and recommended works for the upkeep of the property. I felt confident that the property was really being looked after and in good hands which is reassuring as I've not visited the premises for over eight years. Kristy is professional, thorough and clearly passionate about what she does.

I recently applied to rent a property through Jeffrey Ross, and I was disappointed with the outcome. My friend and I, both male, were interested in a spacious 932 sq ft off Waterloo road advertised as 2 bed flat that had two official bedrooms and an additional small room, effectively making it a three-bedroom flat.

As Lettings Agents, we are asked to act on behalf of our Landlord client to secure suitable tenants as per their wish - in this case, our requirement was to find a single person or couple for their concern of additional noise pollution to the elderly lady, downstairs should two friends occupy the property. This policy only applies to this particular property in question and we do have a host of alternative properties within the area that we could offer, instead (subject to your suitability to rent, annual income / timescales etc) so we would be delighted to offer some alternative properties to you. GoogleHonestly such a poor experience. After viewing a house with Lou and expressing our interest in taking the property, we were led on the entire following day and had to chase up Jeffrey Ross ourselves over 5 times, only to find out that the property had been let to someone else!. No explanation could be given as to why we weren't told this which is incredibly unprofessional. The reason for another party being chosen over us to take the house was that "they're a couple" which makes no sense as we are also a couple. We had stated that we wanted to take the house before anyone else had even viewed the property, yet further viewings were conducted and the house was still given to another couple. All around poor service. If you like being made to wait over 30 minutes for their employees to show up late to viewings, have viewings cancelled on you last minute and thinking you've got a house only to have to chase them up continuously to find out someone else has it, with no explanation as to why, then this is the letting agency for you. Update: In response to their response, Firstly, I asked Lou, the letting agent who showed us around how to submit our interest in the property and he told me to do so via text message with himself, so I'm unsure why you make a big point of that like it was an issue, when your agent himself told me to do so? Secondly, the text was not sent out of office hours, the text was sent at 4:26pm and another at 5:12pm again expressing further desire to secure the property. You were still conducting viewings at the property at 5pm and your office times are listed as closing at 5:30pm, so to say the text was send out of office hours is entirely false. Finally you also state that other members of the lettings team were in contact with me, this is also untrue. I had to contact yourselves over 5 times as you could not provide me with an update even though the property was already marked as let online. It was not until the evening we were actually informed that the property had been given to another couple after again chasing up an answer. I should not have had to chase you up all day to receive this answer and should have been informed. I'm sorry that you find the review harsh but this was my experience and accurately details how I was treated by Jeffrey Ross. It's a shame that you had to include false statements and non-issues to try and discredit the accuracy of my review.
Hi Tom, many thanks for taking the time to review your experience with our Lettings team. Having read the review, I felt it necessary to respond given some of the details enclosed within it. As you were aware, the property in question received a lot of interest and we had booked 4 viewings on it for the same day that you viewed. Given that the property received multiple offers, we put all interests forward to our landlord client and asked them to decide on which party they wanted to proceed with. Evidently, the landlord opted for another party and as such we entered into a rental agreement with them. It took us the into the following working day to come to an agreement with our landlord client which coincided with Lou (the negotiator who showed you the property) having a day-off so other members of the lettings team were in contact with the landlord and all parties who expressed an interest, that day. Whilst I sympathise with your situation and excitement for trying to secure a rental agreement and calls into the office for an update, I feel your comments very harsh, given that it took less than 24 hours for you view the property and express your interest (which I am told was expressed via text message, outside of office hours) to coming to a solution and the unfortunate decision from our client to proceed with other tenants. We would welcome you to come back to us in your search for alternative accommodation in the hope of sourcing a suitable property for you both, elsewhere. GoogleI’ve had a really good experience with Jeffrey Ross and just want to say a particular thank you to Jon. This is my first time renting alone and not part of a student house but the process hasn’t been at all stressful and I’m so happy with the property itself. Jon was the first viewing I attended, was really friendly and approachable and I particularly value how responsive he was to all my questions via email! He’s always asked how I’ve been and the care feels very genuine when talking to staff. I have been recommending to friends looking in the Cardiff area because I’ve been so happy with the company.

Friendly, efficient and professional company. A girl called Flo Bailey in the Pontcanna office, Wales was particularly caring and attentive. She went out of her way to find a year's accommodation for my friend's son and his friend (their first time outside India and away from their families) which meant so much to me and to my friend. I often found her still working after 7:30pm!!! There's dedication for you! If only all Estate Agents were like Flo (although I'd rather she didn't work so late!)Estate Agents often get a bad rap for being cold, uncaring and driven by commission only. Flo and Jeffrey Ross are not like that at all! I hope Flo gets the recognition and promotion/reward that she deserves and I have no hesitation in recommending her or her team if you need to sell your house or find some accommodation as she genuinely cares and treats you like a member of her family. You're not just a number to her! You're someone who has asked her for help and she'll do the best she can to ensure you're looked after! Sorry for the late review Flo...I've been travelling constantly...I know that's not an excuse, but better late than never right? :)

GoogleJon made sure the flat was cleaned and had a proper kitchen floor installed before I moved in, which was the only concern I had about the property. So, the agents did their job properly! And cheaper fees compared to other State Agents in Cardiff. I only didn't like their automated emails for payments and reference requests as I personally prefer direct contact with people, but I would really recommend them!

Absolutely awful experience. Stopped caring the second they got their deposit. Allowed a terrible landlord to rent out a flat with a non functioning toilet, a washing machine that ruins clothes, a dirty carpet, no access to mail for 1 month, a hob that did not work, missing fittings, a broken window handle and rubbish left behind. Ive rented a lot over the past few years and this was very easily the worst experience by some margin. Incompetent and exploitative. Looking to escalate this complaint further externally.

After looking into the detail, it appears that you rented a non-managed property from our Roath office - in short, this means that JeffreyRoss are employed by the Landlord to secure a suitable tenant, carry out a full reference check and offer a contract with no respsonibility or involvement in the tenancy thereafter (to include your list of maintenance, in the review.) Whilst I am sorry to read of your experience after our involvement, we cannot be held responsible for your issues, noted. In the interest of balance, too, we have dealt with this Landlord for over 15 years and have had very good feedback on him, on the whole. With properties in Cardiff and Newport, I found JJ Ross a very competent and considerate agent, always ready to listen and to advise. Maria Pagonessa, in particular, as the person closely connected with the properties, has been outstanding for her care of the tenants and of the buildings, very conscientious in listening to the requests of the tenants and careful to find the most appropriate and economical way of sorting out problems. I am totally confident that the properties are well looked after and safe in her hand. I have no hesitation in recommending JJ Ross as an excellent agent to look after your properties.

We were the buyers in our transaction and everything did work out in the end but I found the process more stressful than I think it needed to be. The viewing, offer and acceptance process was great but after that it was difficult to get answers to any questions we asked. We had no chain and were keen to move and acted as quickly as possible but we were still pushed to set a date for completion before we were ready. The survey flagged issues and it took a while to get that sorted out but I was chased constantly. Even after I explained I was away on holiday for a few days, or when I said I was having surgery that week, and I would get back to them as soon as I could, I was still phoned and emailed. When we tried to negotiate a price reduction based on a damp report we had received I was made to feel like I was being unreasonable and it was suggested that there was no damp (even though I used the surveyors the agents recommended). On completion day the house was left full of furniture we'd agreed through our solicitors would be removed and the agents were no help at all and refused to even contact the vendors on our behalf. Overall given the choice I would choose an different agent in future.

GoogleOur Estate Agent Ryan was very welcoming and informative which helped with the move. We agreed terms and paid the retainer on the house before even viewing, solely going off the videos and pictures provided online. This for me made me feel quite anxious about the move as I’m much more of a ‘touch, feel and see’ kinda guy when it comes to purchasing products and services but Ryan’s knowledge of the property details, past tenants and landlord made these worries soon fade away.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon just to.check if any properties due to come on the market in Pontcanna as we had already been to view 3 other properties but there were 8 others in the queue to view them and we were unsuccessful. After checking the website on a daily basis,I thought it may be helpful while passing to call in and ask . I was greeted with someone that clearly thought I didn't know how to check on the website and looked shocked that I was bothering to even ask. As it happened there was a possibility of a property coming onto the market on Monday but it was clearly not a question to ask an estate agent. So if you are thinking customer service is going to help by calling in,don't bother wasting your time with a staff member who was clearly irritated at being asked information.

Everything went smoothly with signing the contract and ever since any problem that we had so far (as little as it might be) gets solved really quickly and professionally.
