Exceptional negotiation - and patience!

Throughout a complicated negotiation, Nony maintained a professional, good humoured and patient attitude which was very reassuring. One felt always that the situation was under control and that the selling process was progressing smoothly - even though at times it certainly hit a rocky path. Nony skilfully guided the process forward for both myself as the seller and for the buyers to a timely and very satisfactory conclusion. It was always a pleasure to speak to her and she gave the impression that ours was the only negotiation in which she was interested. No small problem was insignificant for her and all dealings were dealt with extremely efficiently. What an asset for Charters!

A genuinely positive experience

Nothing demonstrates the abilities of Charters, and Nony in particular, than to highlight that our house was sold in just one week. Throughout the process, Nony was in daily contact, guiding us through the decisions which had to be made and offering advice where she was able. Nony was never too busy to have a chat if we had any questions and it always felt that she had our best interests at heart. During our (albeit brief) search, we dealt with several different agents and every one we interacted further cemented our feeling that we made the right decision to go with Charters. They are a very customer centric team of experienced and enthused professionals and I would strongly recommend them to any seller.

Tom has lead the way in our property search

Tom has been up there as one of the best and most tenacious Estate Agents we have had the pleasure to work with. As a family we are very picky about choosing the right house, but Tom has always introduced the right properties and quickly adapted to our situational changes. When we first met Tom one evening at a property viewing he said Charters would sell our house, they did, also that they would find the right house for us and they did that as well. Tom is an advocate of the energic Charters team that work tirelessly, often out of hours, to get results. I wouldn’t want to be a competing Estate Agent ! Richard Disney and family.

Professional Estate Agents

We met a Charters Estate Agent by chance. Looking at a property for sale from the road, my wife and I noticed some people talking outside the house.We didn't wish to interrupt, but the Estate Agent beckoned us over as his clients were just leaving.We explained why we were there and after a short conversation the Estate Agent offered us a brief viewing, which was very helpful, saving us making an appointment for another time. On entering the property the Estate Agent asked us to remove our shoes as this had been requested by the vendor. We happily obliged as he was being respectful of the vendors wishes.During the subsequent viewing, the Estate Agents professionalism and detailed knowledge of the property gave us confidence that he was doing his best for his clients.If the situation arises we would be very happy for this Estate Agent to handle the sale of our property. We are looking to move from central Scotland to the Romsey area. Because of our remoteness we need to rely heavily on the expertise of a number of agents. Tom as been by far the most professional, proactive and enthusiastic agent we have dealt with. Sheer hard work separates Charters from the competition

As property developers we work with many different agents around the South to sell houses for us. At the £1m plus mark we have worked with the big 5 national/international agents regularly, but have rarely come across a more dedicated team than those at Charters and in particular Nony Kerr-Smiley. I say dedicated in the sense of total focus on finding not just a buyer for our recent property, but the right buyer - the only way that can be done is through pure graft, putting in the hours (very often after-hours and Sundays in Nony's case) on the phone and viewing the property with potential buyers. This has not often been our experience with other agents who can very often rely on their name/reputation and website to generate viewings and who so often lack the skill demonstrated by the Charters team of listening to the buyer's needs and thus getting the right person to the property and then having the depth of knowledge of the house and the local market and competition to be able to deal with questions or indeed concerns. Nony has been outstanding in this regard, but there is strength in depth at Charters and I would be confident that any member of the team would be able to show the same levels of skill, knowledge and the necessary determination to secure a buyer for any future property that we bring to market in their increasing large sphere of influence in the South and South East. Thank you Nony, Elliot, Rob and the rest of the team for your considerable and noticeable hard work.

From beginning to successful end I've found Charters to be have delivered wonderful service at every stage. They were swift to value my property. The price was higher than I expected but they achieved it so as you can imagine I'm highly delighted. Viewings were efficiently organised. They marketed my property well and I had a huge number of viewings and ultimately 3 offers. Throughout the legal process Jo kept me informed of progress on a weekly basis which had a reassuring effect and kept the angst at bay. My daughter is selling at the moment but using a different agent in the town, so far without luck so I'm urging her to use Charters.

We were initially rather stunned by the first impressions and pace of Nony, this has settled and evolved into nothing more than respect for a fantastic estate agent. She is also an interesting character with a great background that has benefited a range of transferable skills to her trade. Unfortunately, extremely difficult to buy a house through Charters from recent experience... I've never had to work so hard to try and spend the thick end of a million pounds before. What a shame. I have a property I need to sell going to market imminently, and based on my experience, I shall be using someone else for this. I wouldn't usually write an online review, but when I offered my feedback directly to them, I was addressed with a somewhat condescending tone and told "this has always been our policy". Somewhat like the (attenpted) purchasing experience with a Rolex AD, it seems like you need to be "lucky enough to pass criteria" to be considered as a potential customer... As they apparently aren't willing to receive constructive feedback & adapt to learn and better accommodate the needs of customers, I felt duty-bound to inform others who may want to avoid frustration when trying to find a house to buy/reach a wider audience when selling a property.

With our dream house on the Isle of Wight in mind, we turned to Charters for their advice and marketing skills, well recognised in Winchester, to help us achieve our sale. Oliver did an excellent job valuing our property for sale realistically and convincingly talking my husband through to a price we could work with in order to achieve a swift but well priced sale. Charters have so far lived up to their reputation, swinging into action professionally to produce fabulous photos, accurate floor plans and a glossy brochure. We almost asked ourselves why we were moving. Nony has been amazing, quickly sending us a relevant selection of prospective purchasers and then negotiating with the family who's offer we have accepted. Her telephone manner is great, so cheerful whatever the time of day or information she's imparting. Her 'wheeling and dealing' have been a real bonus as she helped both sides towards an outcome that pleased everyone. Thank you Nony, you work incredibly long hours, always seem to be in the office and obviously love your job. My initial confidence in instructing Charters has not been misplaced as they have achieved all I set to do with the sale of my house in Winchester. I come across a lot of property transactions as a Chartered Surveyor, who carry out mortgage valuations for a number of lenders; so when it came to selling my own house, I knew who would best serve me. Jo Goddard has been an excellent progress chaser in what has been a difficult and protracted transaction mainly due to the picky-ness of the Solicitors involved in this chain of transactions. How hard can it be to find your dream house?

They say that buying and selling property ranks highly in the most stressful things you'll ever do and after spending the last 9 months looking for our dream home I can vouch they are probably right! I have dealt with every Estate Agent in Winchester, Chandler's Ford and Eastleigh and without doubt the customer service received by Charter's Winchester in particular Nony has been nothing short of exceptional. Nony is professional, proactive, going out of her way to help in our search with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. Her weekly (sometimes daily) updates are a fabulous way to keep me and others informed about new and existing houses in the area and often come with a personal and funny twist! Would highly recommend Kevin

As first time buyers with complex Visa and income issues, we had a lot of questions and the mortgage process was quite a nerve racking concept.. We originally contacted Trussle and began the process with them, which turned out to be incredibly stressful and only made us feel more nervous about the whole thing. We contacted Kevin after a week of back and forth with Trussle and he was able to answer all of our questions in an hour over the phone on a Saturday and have our application submitted by Monday. He managed to find a better deal than the one we had been discussing with Trussle too. He was very reassuring as it's clear when you speak to him that he is incredibly experienced and he made the things I was worried about feel like simple things to solve. Sale of a Small Plot of Land in Hampshire

Recently we sold a small plot of land which should have been straightforward but for one reason or another it became quite complicated at times. Ben Stream, Land Director at Charters, co-ordinated the sale and he was exceptional. Despite every inconvenience he remained positive and optimistic. His advised us all the way through the sale (as we didn’t have a clue) and our trust in him paid off. As well as really knowing his job he is proactive, professional and has a really appreciated sense of humour and we certainly needed that at times ! Warm, friendly and efficient service, great value for money

Jo and her colleagues were very efficient - advising on the asking price and finding us a buyer within just a few weeks. We were overseas for most of the time, but this did not prevent Charters from staying in touch by phone and e-mail, keeping us posted on the latest developments and chasing the solicitor when necessary.. We particularly appreciate Jo's warm and friendly personality, which made our contacts so pleasant. Thank you!
