GoogleCharters has been great throughout my long hunt for a home to buy. Liz was wonderful and tried very hard to find me the right house. This took a long time, so I decided to rent through them. Unfortunately my experience as a tenant was very disappointing. Charters very much acts in favour of the landlord and there were several things that were not disclosed to me about the property before I rented it. I could have overlooked these things despite the huge inconvenience and expense they caused, however, at the end of my tenancy Charters informed me that they would be acting for the landlord in an attempt to retain some of my deposit! There was no justifiable reason for any of my deposit to be retained and the landlord should have compensated me for the inconvenience of the situation throughout my tenancy anyway. Thankfully I bought my house through another estate agent in the end.
Dear Sian, We are sorry to learn that you were unhappy with the service received from Charters Lettings after such a positive experience with our sales department. Having reviewed our notes I can see that you experienced a few minor maintenance issues during your tenancy that were dealt with very promptly but it appears that your main complaint was surrounding the return of your deposit. As per legislative requirements we register all deposits with a government approved scheme and handle the return of all deposits in accordance with their guidelines. We are unable to return any monies without both parties consent which protects tenants from unjustified claims. In this instance your landlord requested a small deduction which we informed you of and you did not agree too. You have the opportunity for this to go to independent arbitration via the deposit scheme but have not raised a dispute and we continue to hold these funds safely for you until a decision can be reached. I am sorry again that this has left you viewing Charters lettings negatively but we hope that you will be very happy in your new home.

GoogleI recently re-let my flat with Charters and had an excellent experience with the agents there. I live overseas so having people 'on the ground' that I can trust is important to me and both Sarah and Gary were brilliant in their prompt and detailed communication and in securing the most trustworthy tenant willing to pay the highest monthly fee. I highly recommend.

I ran out of the hot water and called Charters. I talked to a very nice lady, Mrs Helen Nicol, and she said that someone would come soon to fix the problem. After a very short time, a specialist came and said it was electrical problem. The man was very nice. Shortly afterwards two electricians came: Fredie and Liam and they fixed the problem right away. I was shoked by the speed and quality of the repair and I would like to thank the people who helped me so beautifully: Mrs Helen Nicol (Marla), the boiler man and Mr Fredie and Mr Liam and Mrs Emily. The service they provide and their friendly staff who gave quick response times is something I wish my letting agent could provide. I recently sold a property through the Park Gate Branch of Charters.The level of service was faultless from start to finish. I knew when Jonathan valued the property i was in safe hands. The whole team should be highly commended for the level of communication. I received weekly updates of viewings which were carried out by the team there and when a buyer was found I was updated regularly on the sales progression.I wouldn’t hesitate it recommending the Park Gate branch of Charters and will certainly be using their services again in the future.

Mark Dryhurst was very professional and called regularly with updates and we felt completely in the loop with everything at all stages.
