GoogleThey would not rent to a couple because they are not married and they say it's required by law. When asked which law and when did it change, the guy on the phone replies " It's not that!". So.. what is it then? Racism?

Having listened to the call between yourself and our office, I can hear that we have not declined to rent to a couple and by no means have we been discriminatory towards you or anybody else. McFarlane’s deeply condone any/all forms of discrimination as it has no place in our society. I have tried to contact you directly to address the matter further and explain the rules relating to Houses of Multiple Occupation but at the time you did not wish to discuss this. If you would like to discuss this further, then please contact me on 01793 611841 where I will be more than happy to resolve the matter. Should you not wish to discuss please find the information provided by the local authority relating to HMO’s; Your home is a house in multiple occupation (HMO) if both of the following apply: • at least 3 tenants live there, forming more than 1 household • you share toilet, bathroom or kitchen facilities with other tenants A household is either a single person or members of the same family who live together. A family includes people who are: • married or living together - including people in same-sex relationships • relatives or half-relatives, for example grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings • step-parents and step-children In line with the above, a couple and a friend would result in three tenants forming two households which as you can see would result in a breach of the information above and put a landlord at risk of prosecution.

GoogleI used to be a Mcfarlanes tenant and now the building itself Blenheim Court in Wootton Bassett in which my flat is located is managed by Mcfarlanes. Mcfarlanes I'm still very curious to know when the lock on the Blenheim Court communal door is going to be fixed??? Carla used to be my property manager when I was a Mcfarlanes tenant and it cannot be easy having a tenant with disabilities. Born with lifelong neurological and developmental disabilities (as well as medical issues) I am classed as disabled neurologically and developmentally. Carla is a property manager who genuinely understands people with disabilities through her own personal circumstances and my goodness gracious me does it truly show! In the 3 1/2 years that I have known her she has truly been there for me due to my vulnerability and had my back all the way. I am incredibly proud to say that she has now become one of my closest acquaintances and is someone that I know that I can always trust and confide in. What better person could any human being actually want in their lives???

GoogleAnita was beyond helpful with getting a property sorted for me so quickly and efficiently. The property itself was perfect for what I need and the whole process was really well managed. She kept me in the loop and was really on it, I was under a tight time scale and she went out of her way to make sure everything was sorted for when I needed. GoogleWe used McFarlane’s to sell, they have offered a very professional and helpful service throughout the process. We have dealt with Thomas mainly, he gave us plenty of information on the current housing markets and always responded quickly with any questions that I had. He also took some excellent photos of the house which I’m sure aided in getting plenty of potential buyers through the door, which resulted in getting full asking price! We have used Macfarlane’s for many years and have used them as managing agents as well as buying and selling properties, We deal with the lettings team presently and the whole team are professional and diligent in all aspects of the lettings process. I can call and speak to someone at any time to discuss any concerns I may have. Emails are answered promptly. For example this very evening I responded to an email from Sarah Cole regarding a query she asked me. I had a response from her ‘after hours’ which is going over and above in my book! Would ( and have !) thoroughly recommend!

GoogleFantastic experience all round, we sold our house and brought our new house through McFarlane. Photos of ours were very professionally done, we had our first viewing less than 24 hours after the house went up for sale and had sold it within a week. They were responsive throughout, chased delays from other parties that were outside of their control, dealt with any issues encountered quickly and professionally and were a pleasure to work with.
