I can compare two Sales Progressors, one for the sale and another for the purchase of our home. Natalie, who helped us purchase our present home, was ourstanding, keeping us informed, pressing for information from the sellers, and was an exemplar of what a sales progessor should be. The exact opposite of our experience of selling our former home nearly 100 miles away where the Sales Progressor changed three times in 6 months. Thank you Natalie, you are a very special Sales Progressor.

I’ve been a BTL landlord for a number of years, with multiple properties in various locations, working with a range of letting agents. I can safely say that Carla and her team at McFarlane’s have been easily the most proactive helpful efficient and knowledgable letting agent I’ve worked with. From tenant sourcing, processing, checking in, property maintenance, issue management and check out through to dealing with the exiting tenant issues and even eviction where required, I have found Carla to be nothing short of amazing - nothing is too much trouble for her or the team and I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Carla and McFarlane’s for any letting needs. Very upset! My partner and I were due to view a flat in cricklade, the night before we received an email saying the viewing was still going ahead. Barely 2 hours before our viewing my partner received an email saying “your viewing has been cancelled” no explanation at all. So my partner phoned up and was told the flat had been let. Even tho it wasn’t available to let until September. May as-well have listed it as “first come first server” because by the looks of things, no one else gets a chance after one persons shown interest. Didn’t even have a chance to view it or get close to looking into placing a holding deposit. This was going to be our first ever rental. Disgraceful and unprofessional. Can safely say we’ll be looking at other letting agencies in the future. Nice way to destroy a young couples hope at freedom.

Even before I rented with this agency, I contacted them for some advice and they were so helpful despite the fact I wasn’t a client. We are in our current home thanks to Keira who has literally been amazing throughout the entire process. Always there for us and answering any questions we had. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I had a great experience buying a property via McFarlane Sales & Lettings. Anita was brilliant from start to finish. Very friendly, welcoming, responsive and she went above and beyond to provide me with expert advice and guidance. I then had the pleasure of being handed over to Jo, who helped me get through to completion. Jo shared all the same qualities and was particularly great at chasing solicitor's and keeping the process moving. I also spoke to Tom (Lettings) who is exceedingly knowledgeable and helpful. I purchased my house through McFarlane, Tianah was great during the initial viewings and Natalie was fantastic throughout the process at keeping me informed and chasing the solicitor/ relevant parties. Only downside was the time taken of 6 months from the offer being accepted to getting the keys. The bottle of Prosecco upon collecting the keys was a nice touch too!

I can't rate Tom and his team highly enough. After deciding to rent out my mothers home after she had gone into a residential care home, Tom and his team managed to let the property for an asking price offer on the second viewing. Mcfarlane were selected as the agents and Laura/Tianah came out to take photos etc and my property was on the market within days. Mc Farlanes have been renting a property to a friend of mine and I’m disgusted that she has had to put up with rats for a year and they have done nothing about, the owner has tried his best but this estate agent have done absolutely nothing even though they have a exterminator on their books as they have said so. Disgusted with the state of properties presented. First one had a current tenant and was filthy, stuff everywhere and bathroom covered in mold. No inspections or standards? Second one didn't even have a tenant yet no effort had been made to clean up. Had a look inside the fridge and there was stinking rotting food inside!! Unbelievable. Even the estate agent ran away in disgust. Sort it out please, this sort of stuff contributes to Swindon's awful reputation.

As an ex tenant who has been fortunate enough to buy a home and escape the disgusting debacle that is renting in this day and age, the stress that this company has caused me and my family is second to none. I’ve had a very disappointing experience with this estate agent. They show little to no concern for their tenants, and although you can report issues, nothing ever gets resolved. It makes you wonder what the point of having an estate agent is if they can’t (or won’t) enforce solutions when a landlord refuses to address basic maintenance. Despite the property being poorly maintained by the landlord, the rent is increased extortionately, with no consideration for the condition of the home or the wellbeing of the tenant. Any time I raised concerns, I felt dismissed and treated as though I was an inconvenience. The agent consistently sided with the landlord, leaving me feeling unimportant and unsupported. As tenants, we looked after our home as best as we could but there is only so much we can do when the property is outdated and things get done as cheap as possibly by the landlord and therefore recurring issues happen because their own standard of maintenance is so poor. What’s the point in having inspections regularly when nothing ever seems to change Sadly the house we viewed as home has been tainted by the awful experience we had.

We were renting with them for I believe around 4 years in total throughout different properties. Especially the latest landlord was a total pain in the behind, but luckily we had Carla Doole as the property Manager, who was always professional, courteous, kind, and an effective weapon to get the Landlords to fix what they should be fixing. Always a pleasure to interact with her, and anyone would be lucky to have her be managing the property in my eyes. When it came to viewings on end of tenancy, appointments were made well in advance, with Emily handling most of the viewings. Props to her for being an all around pleasant person, and keeping things quick and efficient. Sadly there is only so much an Estate Agents can do, but they always did what they could. 9/10 times it'll be the landlord holding up things in my experience. It does still help to pester them though. :)
