Thank you!!
Barry has done a fantastic job with our sale and worked tirelessly for 6 months to help get our sale and purchase over the line. They were always there when we needed an update or a chat (whilst presumably having a lot of other chains to deal with as well!) After a very stressful 6 months we are finally there. I would recommend Mather Marshall to anybody. Their unfaltering effort and support was a massive help. I don't think the sale (and our purchase) would have gone through if it wasn't for the proactive way in which they managed the chain The focus and drive to get this over the line cannot be questioned. A massive thank you to all of the team involved!!

Called them to book a viewing on first day and then told someone will call after speaking with tanent. Then second day no call back so called back again and was told, someone is sortkng the viewing and will contact to arrange but nothing till next day and called third time and was told there were viewings today and someone took the property. So frustrated and said why i was not called, i called and then was told might missed. So spoke about another property and was told it is available and will call me after speaking with tanents to arrange a viewing. No call till now. Very unprofessional

Sam and Duncan where absolutely brilliant during the course of viewing different properties and purchase process. The whole process took exactly 2 months, from the point of first visit to the house to exchange of contracts - this is I would rather say is some record. "Always there" attitude is always appreciated, they are polite and professional.

Awesome Experience, very professional and supportive
From my first viewing until completion, the whole 3 month journey was seamless, had a few hiccups with solicitors however Sam was able to ensure the issues were resolved quickly and professionally. As a property investor, I will definitely be working with Sam again. Excellent Service. 5Stars.

"After months of viewing various properties we finally found a home that we liked. From the first time we met Sam he was always friendly, very polite and not at all pushy and tried to understand our needs. Kept in regular contact with us and we were always able to speak with him either via email or telephone when we had any queries. Been a pleasure dealing with Sam and we would recommend his services."

I contacted this agency to view a house last Thursday. At the end it was agreed that the agent would contact me the next day to check if I was interested. She did not contacted me so I contacted the agency to inform that I was interested to rent the property but wanted to verify if the landlord would allow me to put a garden gate (that had been there once) and the broken fence as I have 2 dogs (the agent had advised that the landlord accepted dogs). As I heard nothing the following day, Saturday, I contacted them in the afternoon. There was no answer although the agency was supposed to be open until 5pm. Today I contacted them again at lunch time and was informed that the property was already let. They told me "first come, first served" and that if this did not go through they would contact me. I called the agency again as I had forgot to inform who I was and give my details. The agent that answered the phone stated they had my details. I mentioned that I had found strange that the property had been let as I had informed that I was interested on Friday and was not advised that someone had already shown interest. The agent informed me that it was via the landlord and as I query this she told me that it was a family member or friend of the landlord. It was not polite that I was not informed that the property had been let. There were also two different stories so I fell that they were not honest with me. Response to agent: I did not ask the landlord to make any repairs. I asked for authorisation to make the repairs with my own money, put fencing that was broken and/or no longer exists and a garden door that existed once as the structure is still there. This would be an improvement and would add value to the property so I am confused and find it strange that the landlord would not want this.
Firstly May we apologise for any confusion. We left a message for the Landlord regarding the fence and gate and whilst awaiting a reply we received a request to rent the property and a holding deposit from another tenant who wished to take the property without any special conditions or changes being made. Once the holding deposit was received and accepted, we automatically hold the property for the client whilst they go through referencing. You should have been called at this point and informed we were proceeding with another tenant and I must apologise on behalf of MM that this did not happen.

Cannot fault the level of service received. Yes it took time and several factors involved that caused delays with the high number of those involved within the chain. Irrespective of what occurred the service was second to none. We have come to terms that these things happen beyond our control when buying a house but cannot thank Mather Marshall enough for their assistance through what has been a long journey for the family but finally and eventually the move happened for my parents. The area is nice and it lead me and my partner to buy on the same road next to family (well almost) few doors down just a shame it wasn't with Mather Marshall never the less my parents are happy with the transaction. We Thank you Kindly to those involved in making this happen. Best wishes Vilas Family

To all professionals, here are some facts I would like to report regarding my experience with Mather Marshall which managed a property my family (3) rented in Hitchin: 1, Days after the visit, I was told by the agent that my offer on the property had been fully accepted so I went to their premises and put down my deposit. One hour after leaving their premises the agent called saying that the move in date on my offer had not been accepted by the landlord. 2 - When I moved in they told me to collect the keys from the agency premises, instead of receiving the keys at the property. Strange i thought... The property had not been cleaned. It was in fact really dirty. There was paint throughout the floors, over the electric sockets and switches, over the carpets - this was reported in the inventory which was only sent to me several 1 week later (i had to request it several times). 3, Several details that had been agreed via email to be changed by the landlord were not fixed, like the door drawers of the freezer that were broken. After several emails and requests to get them fixed i simply stopped attempting to request them to do anything and accepted the broken fixtures of the property would not get fixed. 4, They said they understood my comments about the paint on the carpets but they would not be cleaned, vacuuming was the only thing the carpets needed. And the stains were left as part of the property. 5- The radiator on the bedroom of my 2 year old toddler was not working. After i complained several times, explaining my toddler was finally sleeping on his own bed, and that we needed to sleep on the floor next to him to keep covering him with the blanket, they managed to send someone to fix the radiator MORE than 1 month later. 7- The check out report was detailed and the landlord claimed part of the deposit, i asked unsuccessfully the agents to advise the landlord about his unfair claims. Claims were regarding: carpets with stains (glad that i paid after check in to get the carpets professionally cleaned and on that invoice the cleaners wrote about the stains and paint); general cleaning (glad i paid a professional company to clean it and had all the check in photos to compare). DPS gave us back all the £220 we refused to pay back of the deposit.
Dear Ricardo Rodrigues I understand this matter is concerning an amicable start date of your tenancy subject to yourself passing references. We are trying to negotiate this with the Landlord on your behalf. However, as you are aware we have to comply with the Landlords instructions. We appreciate it can be frustrating when a Landlord changes their mind regarding start of tenancy dates and we are trying to resolve this matter for all parties concerned. We have been in dialogue with yourself and the Landlord and will continue to keep you informed and up to date. Please feel free to contact the lettings team if you have any further concerns or questions.

this company doesn't summit offers to sellers which is illegal and also it openly state that it gives preference to land lords that let their home with them i would be apprehensive to list my house with a company isn't working on behalf of the seller's best interest
Dear Sakhan M Please could you let me know which property you are reviewing as we do not have your details on our system and cannot work out which property you are reviewing. We have not sold any properties to existing Landlords recently and can assure you we have never withheld putting offers forward to vendors please can you reply ASAP so that we can rectify any issues there may be All the best Paul Mather FNAEA

Unfortunately there isn't really an appropriate word I can use to describe all of the shortcomings of this letting agency. Firstly, it took them a week just to do a simple inventory, their excuse? No one was at home. Clearly a lie as I know for a fact someone was home, and secondly, which agent doesn't have keys to the property they are renting out? Secondly, I wasn't actually able to move in on the right day as they said the keys were still with the previous tenants, a situation which they would have had a month to sort out (given that the contracts are only 11 months long). It also seems that they are always looking for sympathy from customers, saying that their job is very difficult, cry us a river, you think it's so easy being a student living on a very tight budget, while being taken for a ride by an incompetent agent who is only concerned with lining their pockets with fees? The incompetence and unprofessionalism I experienced was summed up on the day I went to sign the contract. Another tenant was complaining that they were stealing his deposit as they couldn't prove they had actually spent the money on repairs, when the joint owner, Paul Mather, had to be calmed down by his wife in front of all of the customers after he shouted "I'll rip your head off". The man was completely unprofessional and frankly out of control, this is not acceptable in any business. I do not wish this experience on any person, and would beg that you stay away, if you're feeling brave, make sure you have some world class lawyers.
