Thomas was also very helpful while processing identification documents in person. Lucy guided me through the offer and referencing stages well. An unscrupulous agent who wants to charge buyer £60 quid for a check that costs them £5 to do. Have not been transparent and only mentioned this extra charge after the offer was made. They have a poor attitude in emails and clearly want to put the buyer under pressure to pay for their own admin.

EDIT: Seems there are multiple Jones & Robinson entities. The one I had issue with are based in Devizes, and property we rented was based in Bromham. Also, to further conclude, of the £1500 we had paid, we have had £1014 returned. However, the original claim was for £895 when we were given an obscene quote for garden and cleaning work. After months of fighting, and having to take a train with garden tools back to Bromham to spend half a day affecting maintenance to a better condition than we had arrived in (grass was overgrown, lots of weeds in a back part of the property), Jones & Robinson still had the cheek to quote an additional £300 on gardening fees. The experience of renting in England overall had been so bad these last 3 years we have decided to move back to Sweden, as honestly we do not feel we can trust English businesses anymore. Given the poor state of the country, it's little acts of greed like this which push high earners like myself out of the country. Really shady estate agents. After being ripped off by Prospect, we mistakenly assumed that with a higher end estate agency like Jones Robinson we would have a better time. In fairness, they were much more friendly compared to the average, but the shadiness kicked in on our exit when they tried to effectively steal our entire £1500 deposit by pinning all pre-existing issues on us. The property we rented was an old converted farm house. Very charming, but in a state of disrepair (auger didn't work at all and was never properly repaired. Mini fridge was so old we couldn't close the door, so we had to buy our own fridge/freezer and stove top cooker to get around the poor state of repair). We eventually managed to reduce the false claims by professionally landscaping the property ourselves, but they have tried to charge us with things like additional garden work, chimney sweeping (by law not allowed to charge tenants), drain cleaning, toilet cleaning (with a bill of £185) etc. For every bill they have tried to charge us with, they haven't been able to prove any work had been carried out despite many requests to provide receipts. Honestly, avoid these guys at all costs. They will act like your best friend and stab you in the back at the same time. Utter grifters.
