Don't use this agency. They illegally charge referencing fees which are not a permitted charge under the Tenant Fees Act 2019. They also fail to give adequate keys and fobs, and repairs take too long. Highly recommend to stay away from this agency

I had a great experience with the Derby branch of John Shepherd, finding a place to rent. Faith was very helpful and down-to-earth. She did not bamboozle me with a sales pitch, and she was very honest about the pros and cons of living in the property. She answered all my questions, and quickly checked anything she wasn't sure about. She always responds to emails quickly.

I worked with Joe, getting a place for my friends and me for our last year at uni, and honestly, he couldn't have been better. He answered all our questions, was always willing to reach out to landlords if he didn't know something, was able to get us a really good place so quickly and was all round just a pleasure to work with. If you're a first-time renter, or even if you're not, honestly, go for a place from these guys.

Lara is a credit to JS. Our tenancy is due to renew in January and our first year here has not been great. Total lack of communication from our βproperty managerβ, really poor service. However after speaking to Lara just once, she has sorted all of our issues in less than a week! She has been proactive, listened to and understood our frustrations, very helpful, excellent customer service, professional and acted straightaway. I canβt recommend Lara enough and I only wish she was our property manager from the very start. Thank you so much Lara, youβre an asset to JS and I hope you receive the appreciation you deserve

Trustpilot2 painful years
Iβve been with them for 2 painful years. They do not have your best interests at heart. Shabby post inspection left me with Β£300 of repairs, if there is an issue they choose inflated contractors costs for ease, rather the looking for a practical, cost effective option. Need a speedy email responseβ¦ maybe in 7 days. Never again

TrustpilotFraudulent claim of debts
John Shepherd are pursuing false debts. They refuse to provide explanation of the charge and have initiated legal action against me with no explanation or calculation of the claimed debt. They also have the wrong information of my current address and thus I don't believe anything they claim is legitimate. They have refused communication and involved debt collection for a fee that does not exist. Incompetent, dishonest and greedy.
