Daniel at Castles waltham abbey did an excellent job on helping us buy a home and at restoring our faith in estate agents at a point where we had almost given up hope on buying our first home due to dishonesty from various estate agents. We decided to use Castles to sell our property after having valuations from 3 estate agents. The first of the 3 agents, who we had a brief experience with before, did not seem that efficient. It is possible that there were genuine reasons, but with Castles we never had any such problems. They were efficient, helpful and friendly right from the start. There was no "hard sell", and no salesman monologue - you could have a genuine two way conversation with them. The last of the 3 agents were also very good, so we were torn between the two. In the end we chose Castles because we felt they had a slight edge in being slightly more upbeat and positive which we felt would set a good tone for prospective buyers. The valuation given was higher than expected, and higher than the other two agents. It may very well have been achievable but as we were looking to sell relatively quickly we decided to market at a lower price. We had three offers, and one of them was actually as high as Castle's own valuation but the buyer's position was not as good as one of the lower offers. We did need to sell fast so accepted the slightly lower offer. Throughout the sale process Castles were always keeping us updated while we also chased things up ourselves. They would always respond quickly to any questions, and assist in any way they could. Some estate agents seem to lose interest once a sale is agreed, or sometimes even as soon as they have got you on their books, and allow things to happen at their own pace. Whereas Castles remained proactive throughout. All of our dealings were with Daniel and Tom, and I could not find anything to criticise at all.

Awful experience. Daniel was very pushy in the valuation that he gave me. He even brought along a contract for me to sign there and then which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He was very unprofessional and even swore in front of my young children. I would never use Castles to sell my house after this experience and will be telling all my friends to steer clear. So because I have given you a negative review you are going to deny you ever came to value my home. I am flabbergasted by this and quite frankly offended that rather than providing an apology you would lie and deny that bad service was provided. I could perhaps understand that it may have been an off day for the valuer Daniel, however you would prefer to call me a liar by saying what I have written is false. Perhaps the attached photo of your valuation pack provides you with enough proof that you have been here. I would prefer not to speak to your office directly as this is who I have issue with. If you could please post contact details for your head office I would like to write to them directly. Yours sincerely a thoroughly disappointed Waltham Abbey resident!

Daniel valued our house and his valuation was nearest the price we eventually got.
