They will use any opportunity to not return your security deposit even if you leave the property in a spotless and perfect condition. I regret using them but you can use them at your own risk. They don't even deserve half of a star in my opinion.

I don't know why so many people hate them but from our experiences they are quite good. When something is broken in the house, like the stove or the hitter, we just write them an email they'll arrange the fixing within the next 1-3 days. The most important thing is that after a thorough cleaning, we did get 85% of our deposit back. So in general, we are quite satisfied with them.

Duncan and Marina sold my house in a week! They made the whole selling experience as hassle and pain free as possible. Nothing was to much trouble for these guys.....Duncan even went out of his way to pick up some missing paperwork and deliver it to me, that's what I call a fab service. I felt using a local Independent business would give more of a personal touch than some of the "bigger well known brand names" and I wasn't wrong, Marina and Duncan delivered it in bucket loads. If your looking to sell your house, call Castles first. Thank you guys for all you did :)

My wife and I have recently rented a house through Castles and have been very pleasantly surprised by how easy the whole process was. We are primarily dealing with Kelly who is knowledgeable, helpful and highly professional; she has responded quickly to emails and queries and provide the highest standard of customer service. We have also dealt with other staff at Castles, and found them to be equally friendly and professional. The application and vetting processes at Castles are straightforward and fuss-free, unlike some other agencies we have dealt with! We could not have wished for better service and strongly recommend Castles to anyone thinking of renting.

AVOID THIS AGENT AT ALL COSTS - LANDLORDS I Had a property with this agency many years but the recent service I have received is borderline disgraceful , phone calls are never returned , owners of the business are always in meetings , I was in their office today and was told no one in management was available to speak to for at least a week !!! They withhold client money for bills that they have not invoiced me for ....... The staff are about as competent as a chocolate teapot , AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND ONLY USE AN ARLA REGISTERED AGENT WHICH CASTLES ARE NOT.

I would not even rate this company a 1 star this is the worst letting agency i have been to. As a student on placement i arrived to the office at 4.30pm for my appointment only to be assisted 45 minutes later for house viewings. After this they tried to make me and my friend rush into putting a deposit down for a 3 bed house straight after seeing it without giving us time to think or answer our questions properly, as we were excited and naive students who had said yes without even thinking. They only accepted cash payment which worked on their behalf and made us take out £250, the maximum you can take out on card. When filling out the form we had our concerns which was seen very clearly by Pereen but she said she would take our money and put it somewhere, little to be known that as she took this money it became unrefundable but we was not aware of this. Only to be told after with a receipt that if we were to come back the next day the deposit would become unrefundable. So me and my friend went for a private talk and decided that we needed more time to think about our decision as there would be so much payments before we moved in the house (£860) and there was no real explanation as to why. So we came to deliver the news to Pereen who told us that it was too late and our money had been taken away and it was now unrefundable. In the space of time during our decision process our money had been taken without no warning. To add further insult her sister came out and shouted at us like small children and said that we were taking the 'mick' as we had been debating for so many hours that had gone past their working hours. 1. No one had forced you to do our papers after working hours. 2. I do not feel the need to know about me stopping you from completing your personal life duties. 3. I did not know there was a timescale on how fast a decision should be made to pick a property. As responsible students we tried to plead with the two sisters only to be slammed and shut down and told to come back tommorrow to speak to the boss, even though we had travelled all the way from london. Next day I tried to call the office from 11 am to be told that the main people are out of office and they will give me a call back. I called a further 4 times only to be responded to 24 hours later(after the situaition) at 6.30 pm. I then spoke to a man called John who told me that I would not be getting my money back as he has been on many drop in meetings with preena and he believed she wouldnt ever leave out any crucial information. Without taking into consideration all of what i said to him, it sounded like he wasnt bothered and he had already made his mind up without investigating the matter. I wasn't suprised because of course he would be biased and side with a fellow employee. If only I looked at the reviews to see how horrible this company was i would have never considered them but I was desperate to find a house for 3rd year. Students there is a reason why they have a large amount of remaining houses left on websites such as rightmove, they are unprofessional money grabbing workers and not interested in you guys as students. I plan to take legal action with my friend if anyone else has been through what we have with deposits please feel free to contact me. Please guys as a fellow coventry student I WARN you to stay away even if it is a last resort.

It's been almost four months since our tennacy ended but there has been no word from them regarding our deposits, any attempt to contact them via phone gets you put through to a crude fella who has no empathy for your situation and will say that all his colleagues are busy and that he will email them without giving you a time scale of when they will get back to you. Save yourselves a months rent and find another estate agent. Realistically they are taking the piss and they don't seem to care. Appalled by their service. n.b. their houses arent great and you will most likely find damp hidden or strategically covered like I had in my room.

Castles were my property agent. I cancelled them with their agreement in person. They then lied and said I did not. They continue to lie and act in poor faith. Driven by the owner of the business. If you are searching for a property agent, do not partner with them. Awful. Really.

Many thanks to Castles team for the professional and friendly service during my rental period. I looked at a lot of houses (flats) and it was always Castles who showed me the most interest and desire to help me in finding house. Staff has all been very professional and sensitive, which i have very much appreciated. Also, I would like to thank Kyle for doing such a good job when showing me around potential properties. One more 'thank you' for Pereen, who has been very kind and very efficient in keeping me always informed. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a team that cares about their clients. Really efficient, friendly and very professional staff.

I used them for a lettings only plus deposit protection scheme in December last year. Things went smoothly for the most part and they found me tenants. However, being a let only service I engaged them for I was surprised to receive a letter from them today giving me 3 options- a)start a further tenancy agreement with tenants, b)gain possession and remarket or c)simply gain possession of property. But, also in body of letter it says -'should we not receive this within the next seven days, we shall renew the Tenancy Agreement if required by the current tenants or market the property for re-letting'!! When I have not engaged them for a managed let, by who's authority are they proposing to evict my tenants or renew the agreement? And who are they to give me 7 days to respond? Surely it is for me to take my business wherever I want. The 3 options given assume I want to carry on working with them and make no mention of the fact that I can opt to not use them at all. I rang to clarify the contents of the letter as I was not happy with it (I'm going on holiday next week and if I missed the letter what would have happened in 7 days time?). However, I got a very rude and arrogant Mr Suri on the line who said he was the manager. Kept contradicting me about contents of letter and kept glossing over 7 day time limit. When asked on who's authority they would have evicted or renewed the contract if I hadn't responded in 7 days he replied "your authority'. Then kept shouting saying 'what do you want me to do now' Even though I said I hadn't made up my mind and was only calling regarding the letters content he wouldn't listen. So I decide to not work with them any longer- he said "fine, we'll take you off our books' Called back 2 mins later to say he would be returning the tenants deposit back to them and it would be up to me to find another scheme. I paid up for a whole year of the scheme and there are still 2 months left in the term yet he is arbitrarily returning the deposit now. Very high handed, arrogant and I feel verging on the illegal. Pressure selling at its worst. Will never use again.
