Please save yourselves a lot of trouble and money by avoiding this digraceful company even one star is generous. They will do everything to take your money andonce you hand over the cash, their helpful attitude disappears. I went to them as i saw their signs outside a house near the uni and thought it would be good for my bro who studied there. We spoke to a big guy who like his collegues are scammers. He showed us a room which unknown to our knowledge had already been rented by another person. The room they ended giving my bro was in a dingy house full of mould. When you try contacting them, they will not give you any answers and will rarely call you back. Oh and to make matters worse, they gave my bro his keys two weeks after the agreed date blaming it on everything but themselves and would not refund the money that they had taken for the two weeks. They will also spring fees on you, left right and center. Even after they take you deposit and first three months rent, they spring on a retainment fee which they claim that if you do not pay you will lose all the money and the room which they do not mention at first. These people are cheats. Stay away from them

Worst agency in Coventry DO NOT LET A HOUSE with this agency. Very bad communication, very bad customer service and very un professional. If you are looking for a headache this is the agency for you.

Great staff, was seen to by Pereen the whole time who looked after us even when half of our group weren't the most organised. I would like to thank Pereen and the whole of the castles staff for helping my friends and I secure a great house for next year. S

Me and my friends have just booked our house for September with Castles and would like to say a big thank you to them, especially Pereen for finding it for us. We chose to go to Castles as they were recommended to us by quite a few of our friends who rented a house with them last year and decided to stick with them again this year. Thanks again Pereen and everyone at Castles, we will see you in September! :-) xxx

Castles were my property agent. I cancelled them with their agreement in person. They then lied and said I did not. They continue to lie and act in poor faith. Driven by the owner of the business. If you are searching for a property agent, do not partner with them. Awful. Really.

Terrible. The charges these people ask for are absurd. A hidden £72 pound fee for leaving the property is taken out of your deposit. Two months later I'm still being charged by the utility companies as they haven't informed them I have left. In order to rectify the accounts I have asked for the meter readings from the date I left however after two ignored e-mails and unanswered phone calls I'm at a loss. There is also the absurd "cleaning and repair" fees they tried to take from me, fortunately by pointing how ridiculous some of them were I was able to knock them down by over £400. Do not accept their initial assessment, be willing to go to an ombudsman to sort it out. Castles also want hundreds to sign and renew contracts. Price gouging.
Thank you for your review Samuel. Our fees are transparent and advertised on our website. The £72 fee was also contained in your tenancy agreement which you signed. The meter readings were provided to you although we do provide tenant's with a tenant check out sheet to return to us detailing the readings when they return the keys however this was not returned to us. Any deposit claim is the landlord's and the claim is compared to the descriptive photographic inventory which you signed when you moved in November 2013.

Very friendly, helpful, professional staff who are always willing to help and go that extra mile. Would highly recommend Castles not only to students but to families and working people looking for a property as well as landlords looking to rent their properties. We were seen to by Pereen last year and she helped us find the house we're currently living in. Pereen was the only estate agent who bothered to tell us about the summer retainer payment, no other agent did and a few of them even brushed it to one side when we asked them to explain it to us, they said it wasn't important and they would explain it once we had paid our deposits so basically when we couldn't back out! Castles were also the cheapest agent for both the deposit and application fees and they had no hidden fees like other agents who charged guarantor fees, contractor signing fees, moving in fees. Moving into the house in September was organised and straight forward and our parents were amazed as to how accommodating and helpful Castles were. We've had a great few months so far and are currently deciding which of us will be staying on with Castles next year and which of us will be going on placements and coming back to Castles the following year. Our friends who are currently renting from other agents are astonished by how much Castles do for us and how much they go out their way that they have decided to rent a house with Castles next year and have already booked it. Pereen and her sister are the main people we deal with and we're sure those of you who deal with either of them will all agree with my friends and I when we say they do a great job and provide a brilliant service. Keep up the good work guys!

Absolute joke of a company. You can literally hear the sarcasm and bitchy tone in the womans voice on the phone. There fast enough to take your money but slow when it comes to doing there Job. One star is not low enough.

Ok letting agency. Fees are a bit on the high side, but they are easily to contact and get things sorted out.

Ever since I moved in the shower has been leaky and grows mold on the pipe every other day or so and has to be cleaned regulary. I told them about this 3 months ago and they said they would look into it. The other day I received a letter about an inspection that took place while I was at work saying the shower was unacceptable. They must of completely forgot about my complaint or they just never actually took it seriously since they are now complaining to me about something I complained to them about months ago.

Would not recommend this estate agents to anybody. Staff can be very rude and aggressive, they talk over you and do not deal with complaints to a satisfactory standard. Charges are ridiculous and cannot be argued and imaginary telephone conversations are quoted where you have supposedly been told and agreed vital information. I had never been given cause to bad mouth estate agents until using these, I will never use them again and dissuade anyone from doing so!

My friends & I rented our student property through Castles in both our 2nd & 3rd year. Our first property was 8 bedrooms however we down sized to 4 bedrooms in 3rd year as half our group went on placements. Both properties were of a high standard in good locations and a fair monthly rent. Before we moved out of each property we each made sure we did as we were advised and removed all of our belongings, deep cleaned the property throughout and ensured we returned the property in the same condition we received it in when we moved in. We were told if we did this the property would be easy to check out and the landlord should be happy with the way we left the property which would mean we should only have minimal deductions from our deposit for any damage we caused. This was the case with both properties and we received our deposits back within a few weeks of moving out. My friends & I would recommend Castles to all students and would like to point out to any of you who read the reviews that most of the negative reviews appear to be from people who haven't received their deposits back. If you don't receive your deposit back and instead have a large amount of deductions you clearly have not returned the property back in the same condition you received it in when you moved in so why would you expect to receive your deposit back? Also you should all know that it is the landlords property so they are the ones who inform the estate agents of any deposit deductions so you are blaming the agent for something they are clearly the middle man in. Its simple if you want your deposit back at the end of the year do what my friends & I did, return the house in the same condition you received it in when you moved in. One thing my friends & I noticed is that when people have a good experience they very rarely say but when they have a bad experience they are sure to say so students take that into consideration when choosing if you rent a property through Castles as all agents have bad reviews. The main person we dealt with was Pereen so thank you so much Pereen & the rest of the staff at Castles for all you done for us during our 2 years with you! :)

Oh dear! If you must use Castles then do not handover any money until you have read the paperwork and I mean ALL the paperwork. Also, ask about retainers. Castles are unethical because they ask students to pay non-refundable deposits without seeing a contract. The next step is the students are then stung by a non-refundable retainer to hold onto the property. My son was hoping to let a room in a lovely property sharing with 6 other First Year students. Fortunately, he asked the 'Bank of Dad' to pay the £450 deposit. 4 of the other students had aleady paid a deposit of £450 and will now have to pay a further retainer of £315 that they did not even know about when putting down the deposit. The contract makes for terrible reading. Life is full of choices. My advice is to select a letting agency that is part of The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA). Castles is not. Good luck and happy house hunting.

Not impressed with their customer service AT ALL! Been trying to contact them with regards to a property for rent next door to me for my daughter and family, for 3 weeks or more, we have either emailed or called and only had one reply to say there was an application currently going through for the property for someone else, 3 weeks later a 'to let' sign goes up and when enquiring I was told the application had fell through so I asked why no one had been in touch to let us know it was available again? I was spoken to very rudely as if I was being a pest! Well if they bothered to let people know what's happening with the property then we wouldn't need to make so many calls/emails! Uncaring/terrible customer service/rude...I'm surprised they're still in business!
The initial application did not go through and the property was immediately let to someone else that had also been interested for some time.

I wish, I could have given 0 stars, the staff has no manners, especially this one woman who called yesterday saying that they would inspect my house without me being there, when they know I work during the week and I can only attend appointments on the weekend, they ignored it and yet she was so rude over the phone. Seriously I wish I had recorded the call so I could sue the poor costumer service and the way she said she didn't care if I was or not in my house while this inspection was being done, so bloody abusive and then she comes up saying 'We don't know what you're doing with the house or if you're growing weed' seriously?, she left me speechless with the stupidity of her comment when I had already agreed to have an inspection but with me being there I'm not willing to allow a random person to walk in the place I live in while I'm not there, that's rather abusive. ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS.

Abysmal service. They will do anything to squeeze money out of you. The tenancy agreement doesn't even make sense. They won't fix anything in the property and it will never, ever be cleaned before you move in. Enjoy your mould, stock up on drain cleaner, enjoy never being contacted.

Worst experience ever with a real estate. They just want to take your money as fast as possible. They say one thing and then they change their version, they will lie to you just to grab your money.

My partner and I have been in a house with Castles for coming up to a month. We could not be happier with the service we have received, Shaun and Cooke have been fantastic and with us every step of the way. Would highly and happily recommend them to anyone.

I wish I would've read these reviews before choosing this agency. They are a joke, during our stay there we had our boiler broken for weeks in the winter with no heating and hot water, same with the fridge that stopped working and in the end we had to get a new one cuz the landlord didn't want to pay for it. Now it's been three months since we've left the property and we didn't get any deposit back and they won't reply to our emails or phone calls...AVOID THEM!!!
You did not have a boiler broken for weeks, it was a matter of days for a replacement boiler. You bought a new fridge freezer and deducted the cost from the rent as authorised by the landlord and also kept the old fridge freezer in the property. As stated under Laura's reply, communication between you as a household was poor and given you were 4 adults who chose to live together we would have expected communication to have been better. You will have seen the landlord's deposit claim and the way you all left the property was unacceptable. People who leave the property as they should receive their deposits without damage deductions.

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to rent a house through your agency . Wish you good customers. Kind regards.

Don't let the reviews fool you. One of the best student agency's in Coventry. The professionalism of the agency reflects through the employees that work that and the way that they deal with their tenants. Once again would recommend to anyone

Had a property with castles for just under 4 years. few hiccups along the way but any problems were sorted and no deductions were taken from deposit at end of tenancy as the property was returned as moved into. End of the day the staff do what they can within the landlords instructions.
