Friendly and professional

The best experience letting my property!

I recently contacted Carter Edwards to start the process of renting out my flat since I've had to relocate to London for my new job. I couldn't wish for better service than what I received from Lisa and Connor from my first phone call. They arranged an instant appointment for that same day to value my flat. OUTSTANDING SERVICE

AN OUTSTANDING SERVICE...It was clear from the outset how good Dale was at his job. It was obvious at the initial valuation how much homework the man had done before entering my property. He arrived armed with a large quantity of evidence in the form of similar properties sold and those currently on the market, to prove how his advice and opinion was justified. Furthermore, he also showed how he had his finger on the pulse as regards political changes to the housing market announced that morning and how it would affect my sale. Simply: Dale knew his stuff!! Although he was the agent who gave me the highest valuation and I was warned by people that estate agents, when they give you high valuations, are being unrealistic and are just acquiring your business and will then drop the price after a couple of weeks!, I followed the 'Which' magazine advice and chose the agent I felt most confident would achieve the most. Although my house was on the market at a funny time i.e. Christmas, it was successfully sold just after, for the full asking price, after a good number of viewings. If I had chosen from the other agents, it would have been undersold, in one case, by £15,000!!! This made a massive difference to my life, enabling me to retire to the English Riviera...suddenly that location came within my reach...thanks to Dale. Using Carter Edwards has been one of the best decisions in my life!! I KID YOU NOT!!! Everything about the service I have been provided with has been thorough, professional, honest, reliable, efficient, effective, enthusiastic and highly communicative...immediate replies via call, text, email or a tap at the door. All Dale's advice has been 'spot on'. Why is he so good? HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES WHAT HE DOES!! It comes down to being as simple as that...good, honest, knowledgeable enthusiasm!

Do not sign up for a joint package with solicitors

The service from the solicitors was less than satisfactory however I made the huge mistake of signing up with their recommended solicitors CGM as a combined package. They have been appalling and it turned out it would have been cheaper to sign up with them myself (which I definitely would not recommend). I'm still fighting to get my money following the solicitor overpaying my mortgage balance & charging for the following year's service charge. Carter Edwards also didn’t send me the details for cancellation until after the cancellation period had ended.

Absolutely dreadful in all departments, Avoid at all costs!

Recently a buyer and had the utter misfortune to have to use Carter Edwards as the sellers agent. From the very start they have been slow and unresponsive, taking 2 weeks to get a response from the seller to a very simple question. I have received phone calls from 3 different members of staff asking for information that has already been given, or chasing me while I am waiting for a response from their own team in order to be able to move forwards! They appear to delight in wasting everyone's time, not communicating within their own team and going so far as to be simply rude in communications. In the end our purchase could have been completed 3 months quicker were it not for the utter ineptitude and complete lack of interest in or regard for their clients. Not even deserving of 1 star! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Months for deposit return (formally Aspect)

After ending a tenancy and agreeing with the landlord the amount to be returned. It took over a month to get the deposit back. When trying to contact to the finance department the team apparently consists of 2 people. Only 1 of which can perform deposit transactions who was on holiday, I doubt they had been holiday for the whole 5 weeks we have been waiting. According to the person who took my call there was no senior management to approach to get the deposit returned (no financial controller or finance director), This wreaks of poor financial control and I suspect I am not the only person to have waited a prolonged period of time to have monies processed (both tenants, landlords and sellers) The lack of professionalism, financial control and length of transaction times means I would recommend you do not use this agent for any transactions.
