GoogleIt started out very well... We had a lovely guy, Harry, showing us the flat in Canary Wharf. Harry is probably the only best thing about Alex Neil!
The flat was lovely. But right after we moved in, the problems started...
It takes the agency ages to apply to emails and we never reached them on the phone. We had an office just in front of the flat, but they only dealt with viewings and told us to email the head office, which in the end we had to do. But as I said, it took them ages to reply. It seems like they don't care at all.
We had a lot of things from the previous owners left in the flat and we asked, if we could throw all those things away. It way so much, it took over almost our whole living room. And it took Alex Neil about 2 weeks to reply. Two weeks without a proper living room, right after we moved in. We also didn't have enough keys for everyone in the flat for about 2 weeks as well.
Then our dish washer broke. Another few weeks until this was fixed. But the worst was, that our heater broke in December. It was super cold and for more then 1 week we had no heater and no warm water, because Alex Neil never replied to our emails or didn't bother sending someone over. Towards the end of our contract our balcony door didn't close anymore. We told them 2 weeks prior to everyone moving out. On our moving day someone came over to have a look, but on our Check Out day, two weeks after everyone moved out, it was still not repaired. New tenants probably moved in with a non working balcony door...
When we told them our leaving date, they advertised the flat to be ready for new tenants some days after that day and made us pay for the days, the flat was unattendend. Just unfair, because they knew our end of contract date months in advanced and also didn't bother to tell us, that they always count 2 days for admin things between moving out and moving in.
Alex Neil is extremly unprofessional and not honest to their tenants. They just care for themselves and their landlords!NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism, Value

A tenancy typically involves three parties, the landlord, the tenant, the agent, and it can be on a ‘managed’ or ‘let only’ basis.
On either basis, we regularly transfer information regarding property problems and other requests between the tenant and landlord, sometimes these do not receive instant approval.
Whilst we appreciate that an agent can become the focus of negative experiences during a tenancy as the ‘middleman’, we are not necessarily the cause of delays or the creator of issues when attempting to resolve any problems.
Contractually though, as the agent, the landlord is our Client and they pay fees for the services we provide, meaning that elements of our contractual obligations are to them rather than the tenant.
We would welcome the opportunity to resolve any outstanding issues that you may have but have been unable to locate records of you previously contacting headoffice@alexneil.com.

GoogleI instructed Alex Neil on the sale of my property in Eglinton Hill, SE18 in November 2020 having been impressed by the initial meeting with the valuation agent. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to expectations in a number of areas:
- The agents take the photographs themselves, rather than using professional photographers. The visual representation of our property was poor and I asked for the photos to be re-taken.
- Our property details were put online without them having been sent to us for checking / approval.
- Communication from the agents during the sales process was poor - both in frequency and quality. There was no sense of being a valued customer who is paying ££££ for a service.
- Whilst Alex Neil did achieve "SSTC" status on our property twice, on both occasions the sale fell through, in my opinion, because the situation was poorly managed and communicated by the "sales completion" department. On both occasions, we were told that the sale had fallen through via a template email - another example of not being made to feel like a valued customer who is spending ££££ on the service. When we telephoned to find out more information about what had happened, the sales completion agent had quite a rant about how busy she was and the long hours she and her team were working with the essence of the conversation being that we were being a nuisance in calling her.
- After the second sale failing to proceed we asked for the contact details of a senior manager in order to provide feedback and were told we would be contacted. However, 2 weeks have now passed and no one has been in touch, hence the reason for providing feedback via this channel.
As context, we are, in parallel, selling another property in a different part of the country via another estate agent. The experiences could not be more chalk and cheese in terms of the quality of service, how valued we feel as a customer and the frequency and quality of communication on a property which will yield a much lower value of commission for the agent.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism
