We had a time critical need for a new rental property for our son. Typically, he'd left everything to the last minute running up to the end of current tenancy . We noticed a couple of properties available on the Martin & Co website that interested us. We telephoned and spoke to Andrew and explained the situation we were in. This was our first ever dealing with Andrew and Martin & Co Basingstoke. We were so impressed with the service and level of attention we received that we managed to conclude the rental transaction and obtain the keys within 3/4 days. I was still in Canada during the crazy of 2020 and needed to find a place to rent in Basingstoke. I found a place being let by Martin and Co and sent a request to speak to an agent about it. They got me sorted quickly and I was able to move in the day I landed in England! The place was the perfect size, great location, and a great price! While I lived there, they were reliable and quick to help with any issues that arose! Definitely recommend!

Must say we were not really happy with experience in Basingstoke branch comparing with Leatherhead branch (where they were extremely professional for a property we lived for 3 years) ...from booking views to house and been showed the wrong property to receive emails with properties that are not what we looking for at all and be contacted by one of your agents saying u just received the keys of a property that we wanted and we put an offer.. the offer never gone to the landlord... you cancel the viewing and show the house to other people. When u finally decided to show us the house there’s already 5 offers when we were the first to book and to put an offer.. bit dodgy no? Literally we wasted a week of our time and we were in risk to don’t get house on time. Not fair playing with people’s life’s when we just expect someone honest and professional. Fantastic service. I was messed around by Loddon Properties trying to get a Churchill Place apartment sorted before I moved out. Gave up after they couldn’t deliver their promise and spoke to Andrew from Martin & Co. Within 30 minutes we met and were viewing the apartments I was interested in. Martin and Co Basingstoke and specifically (Andrew Sheldon) provided a great service that enabled me to sale my property in super quick time, and attracting a perfect buyer. Andrew has vast experience and attention to details that convinced me to use this agent. Extremely competitor on price, whilst providing quality top end online and offline marketing materials, online channels to keep you up to date on appts and feedback and personal updates through the process. Unlike other estate agents they also recommended a truly independent national mortgage broker that supported with unpaid upfront consultancy, then a mortgage that met my needs. Would highly recommend Martin & Co Basingstoke compared to some of the larger items state agents that want to win your business by making ridiculous and unrealistic estimations ok your property value.

Very happy with Martin & Co. I rented a 1 bed property in Basingstoke and the entire process from the viewing to getting the keys was painless. Lindsey was early to the initial viewing appointment, knowledgeable about the property and a great point of contact throughout. There was never any issue getting in touch, and I was kept well informed (on a few occasions outside of business hours too which I didn't expect). If I wasn't reachable via phone due to work commitments, I could count on getting an email instead. Really a breath of fresh air in comparison to other estate agents I've had to deal with, and the fees didn't seem unreasonable to me given the level of service. The other folks in the office were great too when I popped in to sign the contract. Really welcoming bunch and they were happy to accommodate me arriving a few hours earlier than expected. I only wish they'd consider something like DocuSign to make signing the contract a little easier, but you do need to go into the office anyway to do the right to rent checks and pick up the keys anyway so perhaps this is a moot point. Would happily use them again and recommend to friends.

When my partner and I were looking for our first property to rent together, we came into contact with Lindsey at Martin & Co. She quickly organised us a set of viewings for the next day at all the properties we were interested in. We did all our viewings with Lindsey, and found a property that was perfect for us. We got the initial paperwork signed off on the same day as the viewing. There were no bidding wars with other prospective tenants, or cancelled viewings on the same day, as we'd experienced with other estate agents. We found their fees to be very fair, and they were easy to get in contact with throughout the process. Our referencing and tenancy agreement were completed and signed within the next week in a hassle-free fashion, with plenty of guidance and information on hand from Lindsey and Andrew to support us through the process as first-time tenants. They made appointments at convenient times for us, and stuck to them. Moving day came around, and we went into Martin & Co to pick up the keys. Emma was on hand to make sure everything was okay. She talked through all the documentation, the inventory process, setting up our rent payments, and what to expect over the coming days - answering all our queries quickly and professionally. Now moved in, we've had any questions that have arisen answered by Emma within a day of us getting in contact, and are very happily settled in our first place together. Dealing with Martin & Co has been a pleasure, really cutting out a lot of the stress that we could've been faced with. I would highly recommend Martin & Co for anyone looking to rent in the Basingstoke area.

This looks like War & Peace, but the below is a letter sent to head office in respect to my dealings at Martin & Co… I would like to express my upset after being spoken with so rudely and in fact nastily from a member of the Basingstoke branch on Thursday 09/12/2015. My initial involvement with the Basingstoke Martin & Co branch was in connection with a viewing in November. I placed an offer forward via phone having spoken with Andrew Sheldon the following morning. I was later informed the offer was never actually provided across (discovery after the property was re-listed). Accidents happen I appreciate that, but my real bug-bear is the insulting call. The reason for such was for a re-offer (having had a price agreed following relisting) due to the discovery of ground rent increasing in substantial increments, in excess of three thousands pounds a year. I have purchased many leasehold properties and never had anything resembling such figures. Andrew was rather obstructive with a re-offer going forward, questioning detailed reasoning to why and was not happy with my explanation. He said he needed everything in email form and to say precisely the increments. It kept repeatedly saying ‘what is it in ten years, what is it in ten years?’ He was sarcastic and at times continually talking over me. I had to say on at least three occasions ‘I do not wish to be drawn into an argument’ A call expecting to be straight forward was made incredible difficult. I indicated to Andrew I was finding his tone rather offensive and unprofessional. With the buy to let in mind with tenants currently being managed by the agent, he was not enticing me to stay with a fully Management Service and his reply was ‘oh good’. I reiterated the reason for my call however he was not willing to place across, but rather being obstructive even further, saying he would call the vendor to say I have withdrawn my offer. That of course was not my reason for the call or intention or per instruction. To try and diffuse the tension/ situation, I said I would ask the solicitor to carry out the job of what I would expect the estate agent would normally, and for him NOT to make the reoffer, as he would not be impartial. He obviously had a hostile attitude and actually makes me wonder if he has an invested interest in the property himself, with how highly strung he comes across, or if he is like this with every customer? As he pointed out, ‘he works for the seller not the buyer’. Since that time, Andrew actually ignored the fact the re-offer was going via the solicitor and he placed it across within a very short time period without my agreement or acknowledgement to do so. No update to me but rather, my solicitor updated myself with the response from the vendors solicitor to say, 'My client was somewhat bemused that this has already been communicated via the agent to your client'. This was of course not the case. Had the vendor turned down the offer, I would have liked to have come to some kind of negotiation/ agreement that I believed was only fair in the situation of the lease rather than to lose the property in it’s entirety. Of course I don’t know what’s gone on behind the scene with the vendor and Andrew in terms of communication, but how I was dealt with as a customer is far below what you would consider as standard. I have never had need to make a complaint, however I feel if everyone was spoken with in the same manner and dealt with in the same way, then there would not be a business in existence. The call was actually quite unbelievable and with the following, I feel Andrew needs to be spoken with, placed on an action plan or and attend some customer services classes, however I feel the basic qualities of being polite and courteous should be present without having to be placed on special measures. Next time I am looking to sell in Basingstoke, I will be making sure an Andrew Sheldon is not working for that particular agent.

I have used Martin and Co for many years. In particular the tenant find part of their service has been superb, largely down to the efforts of Andrew Sheldon in my opinion. I stopped using them a couple of years ago due to high turnover of support staff (property management) which caused issues for my tenants at the time and the 'then management' seemed un-interested in fixing. I am delighted to say that after a management change, Martin and Co. seem to be back to their pro-active selves: Having struggled to rent a country property for the 4 months with another agent, Andrew called me with an offer to help. He found tenants within 10 days - a lovely family that wanted to move in within 3 weeks (beginning of July 2016). I could not be happier with this result.

Andrew did a good job selling my house. I live overseas and wanted to not be present for any part of the sale process. The property was tenanted when we started it at the beginning of February. We had a few email communication glitches, particularly with the property details but an open day was arranged for 20 Feb and 2 offers received on 22 Feb, both higher than I was hoping for. The team at Martin&Co dealt with the tenants and buyers to arrange exchange and completion dates which suited everyone and we completed on 10 May. I'm very happy with how things went. Thank you.

Shocking customer service. This company never responds to urgent enquiries (email or voicemail) and their telephone manner is most unfriendly. After a rushed viewing, I phoned the office to express my interest (knowing that properties go very quickly) and willing to pay holding fee over the phone. I called, only to be stopped mid-sentence by Andrew Sheldon and told to call back in ten minutes. I was driving at the time using my handsfree. After ten minutes I phoned back. No response.I called again five times. I came to the conclusion that everyone had gone home and that I had been essentially fobbed off. If the property was no longer available, why not just tell me there and then? I left a message stating I wanted the property and if someone could call me first thing - regardless of the outcome. I waited all morning for a call, even sending a follow up email.Again nothing. I was at work, so it took my partner to ring up, only to be told that the property had been let out. No apology for lack of communication. This whole endeavour cost me a great deal of time, money and worry. after this, I would NEVER consider letting a property from Martin & co. I would strongly advise against using this agency. They simply do not seem to care.
