GooglePrevious review /A complete lack of communication, responsiveness and respect for the tenant. Sandstone, formerly grant properties, are easily the worst letting agency here in Dundee. Do NOT rent with them unless absolutely necessary. I'm still stuck with them and until I move later this year, every single day they leech money from me is the worst. They've completely ignored my issues, don't accept calls, ignore emails and do the bare minimum at all times./ Update 1 I'm leaving the previous review up for transparency, but ever since my contact point switched to Olivia Robertson and Jack Aitken, things have improved drastically, hence the increase in stars. There are still a number of issues with the property itself, but the responsiveness has increased and Olivia and Jack are excellent help. Update 2 Since moving out of the property let to me by sandstone, they have been noncommutative and attempted to skim £250 off my deposit for what they claim are "cleaning charges", despite the property being left in drastically improved condition than it was in when my tenancy there began, despite having shown proof of the state of the property on my arrival (an issue they did not resolve in time and left me to clean up after them and their previous tenant). Unacceptable service and a frankly blatant attempt to rip me off.

GoogleAvoid at all costs. Despite multiple bad reviews from people who have been with sandstone we went with them hoping that we would have a better experience. This was by far the worst company I have ever rented with. Issues included but were not limited to: -Very high rent/repair costs for the quality you get. -Dishwasher breakdown that was never repaired. -A broken window through no fault of our own that was never repaired. -Rude/dismissive interactions with staff. -Staff were very unhelpful if they did respond but you were lucky to get a response at all. The agents are based in Edinburgh and so if looking for a property elsewhere they will have never visited it and have likely never been to your city as was the case with ours. We were lied to about our flats cost of heating and only found out about how expensive it was once we were living there. Do not rent with sandstrone, rent a lesser property if you have to as it is seriously not worth the money/hassle.

GoogleCan get a flat easily if you have money but they do not respect their tenant, especially if you are a student. They also lie instead of getting things done. Will only recommend if you have no choice.

GoogleThe own some flats in a tenement where I also own one, and they are a bunch of utter clowns. When they want to do a repair some random person just sends an email demanding money - no letter, no introduction of who they are, certainly no invoice like actual professionals. Then, without them even telling me they're going ahead with the works, I'm woken at 8:20am by scaffolders yelling at each other outside my bedroom window. Of course, their offices are shut because it's the weekend... Bunch of absolute amateurs.

GoogleReally terrible communication. On contract it says 24hours notice before someone comes in the flat but that’s not the case. Awful awful communication with agents who don’t let you know what is going on and why your property needs to be entered. Already had someone come in despite saying I didn’t agree and chose another date and now someone still needs to come in after getting an email at 11pm for the next morning (no idea why) so I’m still not getting a 24hours notice. This is starting to make me believe people are coming in without my knowledge and if I find that out, I will be taking legal action. Please respect your tenants (or at least respect the contract)!!!!

GoogleI was with Sandstone as a tenant when it was called Grant Property Management and they were hands down the worst property management company I have ever rented from. We gave up on them repairing anything as they ignored all emails. The only way to get a response was usually to copy in the branch manager when emailing. They then moved to an online reporting system for faults but this was also useless as no one responded to any faults logged. The only time we got reliable communication from Grant/Sandstone was when rent was involved. Despite the fact we had direct debits set up for a specified date every month we received semi-regular emails asking for rent to be paid. These then required further emails from us or phonecalls, all to discover that there had been an admin error on their end and we did not in fact owe them an entire month's rent. I could go on, but all in all they were a terrible company to rent from and I'd advise avoiding them at all costs

GoogleHorrible landlords. Had a lot of issues with the flat itself, including being told something in my room will be fixed, however it was not even mentioned during my whole stay there. The company refused to process my leaving application as they have "exceeded the maximum number of applications", leaving me with a lot of stress regarding terminating my lease for months. Had to write a plethora of angry emails in order to terminate my lease. Furthermore, they claimed that the fees which I was meant to receive back are not in their system, and I only received my money back after someone from the company randomly found the records. Communicating with the company had also been appalling, frustrating and absolutely unhelpful. Do not rent from them, especially if you're a student.

Grant does whatever it can to extract maximum profit from its renters, pushing the boundaries of legality. And when the students complain, Grant snubs them.
