GoogleNot a very nice bunch of people to deal with. Very much enjoyed being taunted in your office by what seemed to be someone on work experience. You got my deposit, well done. But your an estate agent, so I guess I’m still ahead. Edit - I’m pleased to say after being ripped off by yourselves I managed to find a much better property and have been renting happily for the past 2 years and have just been given my new 12 month contract. Incidentally one more expensive than the one you refused to let me. So is your policy one of finding good tenants or just scamming people out of deposits? Also I walked away because one of your colleagues practically dared me to in the office, maybe if he was more focused on his job than goading customers, things would have worked out differently!
Dear Andy, It is unfortunate that you still feel unhappy 24 months after your original complaint and review was received. At the time back in February 2017 I asked you to contact me about your low star rating with our Horton and Garton lettings team which was over 2 years ago. The referencing procedure highlighted incorrect information which you provided on your tenancy referencing application and please do remember that it was your decision to withdraw from the the future tenancy and you forfeited the one weeks holding deposit, which for the record, was forwarded to the landlord client as per our terms and conditions - HG did not hold or keep the one week holding deposit. GoogleA local agent that really understands their market, H&G sold our house at a difficult time in the housing market (summer 2018). Pricing and marketing were spot-on, generating over thirty viewings. We took a low price in order to achieve a quick sale and exchanged contracts in under four weeks. A special mention goes to Phil Coombes who kept everything moving and was referred to as a 'terrier' by our lawyer. Thanks to the whole team for all their hard work.

GoogleWe registered with Horton and Garton at the end of last November. They were the 5th in a line of agents who came to see us in order to give a valuation. It was evident to us that they seemed to be the best of the bunch; they were clearly very passionate about the area and seemed to have splendid knowledge of the locality. More importantly, unlike some of the other agents, they were akin to human beings rather than robots! We were very sad that they did not actually sell our house, because they worked unstintingly on our behalf. It is clearly a cruel business, because ultimately, the house was sold by another agent who displayed few of the qualities of honesty and integrity which can be attributed to Horton and Garton and we would strongly recommend them.

Technically, we agreed the first sale however our buyers buyers got “cold feet” and the chain fell through; so to avoid you losing your purchase and to expedite the process I recommended you a couple of A N Other agents to work alongside Horton and Garton, I was not expecting the other agent to manage a sale ... but this time they did... not without a few communication challenges and issues however, most importantly to you, you did not lose your purchase and now you’ve exchanged, completed, moved and are now settling in to your new home the positive experience working with us hopefully will override the underhand non positive experiences of the other agent!! GoogleOur first interaction with the service department was not really good to be honest. An issue with our bedroom radiator needed the intervention of a third party, and the property manager in charge of handling this was not really inspired to say the least... While the winter had settled in London, there had been no progress whatsoever since the day we had reported the issue 4 months before. It all got better once John got involved. His diligence and persistence allowed us to get this radiator fixed in 2 weeks’ time. Ever since then, we are pretty pleased with our experience with the Agency, our new property agent Amy has been very helpful so that we can now finally enjoy that customer first service advertised in the brochure. GoogleI have very recently purchased a flat via Horton & Garton, after 3 long months since my offer was accepted, due to some issues we faced in the interim. I’ve read other very good reviews, in particular about Phil, and not only do I second them, but I also find it hard to express my appreciation for his work and him personally as a liaison, in a short text. Phil went way above and beyond his remit, while acting as a pacifier on a few occasions with transactional issues, keeping the balance among parties and always being helpful, polite and fun. I can honestly say, he’s the first estate agent who gained my trust and the only one I would recommend to family, friends and anyone else who wants to get their job done in a professional way, with the added bonus of a human and friendly approach. GoogleWe rented a property managed by Horton and Garton for 3 years. From the start they were helpful and communicative, responding quickly to any queries we had. This level of support and communication continued throughout the duration of our tenancy, for example, when a couple of older appliances gave up on us, replacements were organised very quickly and installation arranged with us for when was convenient. We are sad to be moving out and will be missing our little London flat!

He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and listens carefully to what his clients are looking for in their new homes. Not once did he show me a place with too few bedrooms or that was wildly over budget; after meeting around ten agents during my search, H&G was alone in this. Phil also gives his clients space and time during viewings so they can make their own minds up about the look and feel of a property. To me, this was really valuable. When I was first looking for a place to buy John Horton took the time to go through some properties on the market (not necessarily ones listed with them) to demonstrate what was available at what prices and he also gave examples of some over-valuations. When I started to view properties I was looked after really well by Phil who was able to accommodate short notice viewings as well as repeat viewings. Once I had submitted an offer he was excellent at keeping in touch with me.
