GoogleI had a valuation from hall & benson. I declined as I found it to be ridiculous. I have just sold the property. I have received £35000 more than their valuation and that is after selling it for less than the asking price. So taking into account the usual bartering on price I estimate that I have ended up at least £45000 better off by not selling it with this company.

GoogleInitially good and put house on market with them with a two week cooling off period in the contract. Subsequently a member of tbe family wanted to buy, so rang to cancel the sale with H and B within a week of the contract. The agent we were dealing with was very unpleasant and tried to say we would still have to pay the fee until reminded about the cooling off period, personally I would not go back. Shame as overall service was very good until this unpleasantness, hence the three stars.

GoogleCurrently selling a house through hall and benson, no chain, taken 12 months so far. On the 9th Feb was told by hall and benson that the only thing remaining was to set a completion date. After contacting my solicitors the same day they informed me that they had no idea about this and emailed the buyers solicitors immediately, 3 days later and no reply from the buyers solicitors, so I tried calling the person dealing with my sale at hall and benson but they were always busy or out the office, I made numerous phone calls, most went unanswered, alot got diverted to other branches so I left messages with them, also left messages with other colleagues in the Alfreton branch. Eventually got through on the 2nd March and was told more searches and a new mortgage offer was now required. Why avoid me for 3 weeks? It's definitely not something I'm going to forget or give up on. I'll be collecting the keys first thing tomorrow morning and taking my business else where. Avoid hall and benson, cost me over £250 a month in interest and bills on an empty property.

GooglePoor communication skills. When I had a issue with the property they never resolved the issue. Been waiting over 2 weeks for money still owed back to me! I think some staff also need a refresher in the work skills and to communicate probably with each other, as the office I gave back my keys to was unaware. Will NEVER rent through Hall and Benson again.NegativeQuality, Professionalism

I would give 0 stars if I could. I lived in one of your houses for a year and we had so many problems due to the poor conditions of the house. The water of the bath dripping from the kitchen ceiling, floods outside the house due to the pipes, oven that once turned on smelled like gas, fridge that drips, the grass in the garden that took a year to be cut and finally we had rats. Once they were supposedly dead, we had to live with the smell for months. Everything took an eternity to be fixed and the payments that we made for the gas, because we had to top up ourselves, were always late including the deposit which I had to wait 4 months to receive while they ignored my calls and messages.For all these reasons I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It’s a fast moving market at the moment but nevertheless we are pleased with the services provided including the accompanied viewings, feedback and being kept inform of progress throughout the transaction. Special mention goes to Bethany who responded promptly to any questions we asked . Also to Jess and Abi for guiding us initially .

GoogleWe put our house up for sale with Hall and Benson in January and we averaged a viewing a week until May when we sold to a delightful young couple who wanted a 'forever' home. The service provided, particularly by Amy and Bonny (who has since moved on) has been exemplary, I cannot recommend them and their colleagues highly enough.

I feel that these two amazing ladies went above and beyond for my purchase! Buying/selling a house is always a bit of a stressful experience however they managed to keep me sane and well informed! GoogleI would strongly advise people to be very cautious, when renting a property with Hall and Benson. We rented a property for 8 years and was forced out as the Landlord wanted the property back. We was served a section 21 with 6 months notice. This was our family home, where my son grew up. We looked after the property and over the years I decorated, to add value to the house with the landlords permission. The original inventory was awful, doors hung upside down, flooring in poor state and generally dirty, but at that time I was heavily pregnant. So a roof over our heads was our main concern, the landlord never addressed issues, such as single pained windows to the rear (Rotton) which are now illegal. The company has been aware of many maintenance issues over the years to which, themselves or landlord never sorted. It was deemed very dangerous from the electiral report, which we didn't have a clue what we was living in (luckily nothing happened) As you can see from the photos iv provided, this is the state it was left with for several months after the electrics was rewired, leaving holes and plastic trunking throughout. They left us with so much mess and rubbish, I had to pay for someone to clear. As I have a child and dog it took us several hours to clean up . The landlord also left us 8 days with the front door lock damaged, unable to lock. I rang and said being on a main road it's unsafe, to which was told to put something against the door! After all this we had, had enough and found a better property. We have now been moved out 4 weeks, now they are trying to withheld our deposit for CLEANLINESS! It's absolutely discusting the way I have been treated. Left waiting for replies, no evidence of the quotes they have gave me supporting their claims we left that property dirty. The woman I delt with Andrea has now left the company, without notifying me, so Iv been told theyre starting from scratch. It's not good enough, all I want is for my deposit to be returned as we was brilliant tenants. Just shows how greedy the company and landlord are, trying to use our money to get the house to a rentable state, because he knows he can't sell or rent it out in its current condition. They don't no theyre own rules on the deposit scheme, and clearly have no duty of care to the tenants living in poorly managed properties.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

GoogleI was confronted with a bungalow that had not been worked on for over 30 years. Mark Benson visited and gave us sound ideas on valuation and renovation. After we chose to renovate Tracey visited and gave a sound valuation and we agreed to put the property on the market. I had some concerns about not choosing an agent physically close, but my fears were groundless and irrelevant. The property reached above the asking price within a week. Lisa took us through the visits through the premises, that were all escorted by their staff and then Helen was a great help in the negotiations after a tricky survey. We made an extra £25k profit as a result of Mark's advice and the whole experience gave us huge confidence in Hall and Benson, Allestree. GoogleThe Allestree office made me and my partners first experience renting our first “non student” homes absolutely fabulous and virtually stress free, Jessica Farrelly was simply amazing and I would recommend her to anyone, she replied to my emails and my numerous calls! So quickly and always replied with the information I needed, she really helped us sort out our guarantor and helped ease their minds about the whole process too, she’s so wonderful and friendly and if we are to let or buy again we will definitely try and go through her. Neil who helped us sign our tenancy agreement and explained everything to us was fabulous, funny and really welcoming 😊 Lastly the lady who showed us round Paula Offiler was really kind and lovely to talk to as she showed us round to say it was her first viewing without anyone she was amazing and a brilliant new asset to your team! LEICESTER (DMU) - DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENT IF YOU'RE A STUDENT [AVOID!] [AVOID!]- With our deposit they ripped us off at the end of the tenancy. From our deposit they took off cleaning fees which they charged us £140. The house was cleaned by us before we left, however, they are claiming it wasn't and it cost £140 to clean the house.- They don't respond to emails- Overcharge you for deposit - Extremely rude

We moved in summer 2020, they agreed to a move in date and then decided a few days before that actually we couldn’t move in for weeks, after several phone calls we finally sorted it. Since then there has been several issues that have never been sorted, such as the shower leaking and growing mold which they said they would sort but never did.When we moved out, they wanted to take £200 for a missing TV which definitely wasn’t missing as I was the last one out and definitely locked the door, and when I tried to email back asking for proof they ignored the email and we had an email from the tenancy deposit scheme saying we could take the reduced deposit or dispute, which we are still in the process of now.

We have just sold our home with the Burton Branch - all I can say is Annie H is fantastic! From the start the communication and efficiency was 100%When the chain nearly fell apart for our purchase not only did Annie call and email everyone involved, but successfully managed to keep a firm communication with the top of the chain. Annie is empathetic and proactive - If you want to sell your home with confidence I’d definitely recommend NH but also suggest from our experience you ask for Annie to manage your sale!

Apsolutly awful. Women called Shannon at derby Humphreys was horribly rude to me, wouldn't let me talk, hung up on me, was so rude i cried. Seemed like she just couldn't be bothered. Horrible experience for a student please dont go with this estate agency.
