Amber Moyes was very professional and Helpful!

I was on call with Ms. Amber Moyes, to help in scheduling viewings for properties. She was very helpful and kind, answering all my questions and explaining the renting process here, and provided good tips on when to call in case of viewing cancellations for other properties. I had 7 properties I wanted to book viewings for, which I was worried would be overwhelming, but Amber was very understanding and patient, and we went through each one to find viewing times to attend. Excellent customer service!

I called today to get some help on viewings for rentals in Edinburgh. This September I’ll be starting my masters at the university but I live in England so it is rather stressful at the moment trying to find accommodation in Edinburgh. Amber was very reassuring on the phone and did all she could to help, even arranging virtual viewings and checking several properties availability. I also emailed after our call with a question and she was very quick to respond and very helpful. Thank you again to Amber.

The customer service is fantastic. I spoke with Aaron and I appreciated it, for his calmness and patience to hear me out, he also made suggestion that could help.But, they don't act on your email requests despite following up (which is auto generated, anyways) to get your details. Don't rely on it that emails will be followed up by the company.They are also prompt at picking up calls

Would avoid at all costs if they didn't monopolise letting properties

*UPDATE*We've now been here for five weeks. Exactly two weeks ago, we've requested a £200 reimbursement for all the cleaning we had to do that should have already been done prior to the start of our tenancy and THEY ARE NOT RESPONDING TO OUR EMAILS OR CALLS.*********************It's nearly been three weeks since we've moved in (partner & myself) and we haven't received an inventory so we've had to hold on to all the landlord's junk that's been taking up space. The staff take ages to respond on email and when we call there's never an immediate answer - it's always something like "we'll follow up on that". I don't know what on earth the staff are doing for anything to take this long. The staff member we're emailing would selectively reply to our requests and just ignore some, then not warn us when she'd be out of office nor give us a time when she'd be back to take care of our queries (or even do something as simple as passing our requests to another colleague while she's gone) - it would be nice not to be left waiting indefinitely when it's already been weeks of no responses. And that's not even as bad compared to one staff member who just wouldn't reply to our emails at all.When we moved in, the flat was not cleaned properly (they said it was just bits "here and there" but it absolutely wasn't) and they assured as that cleaners will arrive on the day of moving in, but no cleaners ever arrived (after that, they followed up by saying that they may take up to a week to come over and never gave us an appointment time like professionals should) so we ended up having to clean everything ourselves because we couldn't use the fridge or put a wash on otherwise. We're asking for reimbursement and it's nearly been a week with no response so I hope this review will do *something* - I really doubt they'll give us anything for the cleaning they should have already taken care of. We were also given the wrong flat number twice so changing our addresses with the GP etc was a pain. On top of that, they didn't even know where the gas and electricity meters were in the property!The staff don't look like they know what the f*** they're doing and are astonishingly comfortable rolling around like a fat cat on new lows of unprofessionalism. I have never been or heard of anyone this frustrated or ever received this bad a service from anywhere. It feels like they do the bare minimum to get by and that they just don't give a s*** about tenants. Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, we haven't found a nicer flat and so we just have to deal with this now.

Jhuewell Hunte/End of Tenancy

Jhuewell Hunte, End of Tenancy Property Manager asked for a PROMPT response to their email at the end of a tenancy but as I needed to discuss something with them and wanted to know when the cleaners would be cleaning the flat I emailed at 12. 30 asking them to call me back. With no response, I emailed again at 16.30 asking for a call back. I telephoned D J Alexander (on hold for more than 20 minutes) and spoke to a very helpful Aaron. He was able to tell me that Charlie Lightheart was dealing with my flat and that he would not only email her but also go to her desk to let her know I was waiting for a call back. 11.00 next day I am still waiting for a call back so that work can be instructed to turn my flat around and advertise for a new tenant. Such is the poor response from D J Alexander, I have resorted to leaving this review and intend to update it, if necessary, every hour!

Avoid Flats Let by DJ Alexander

My daughter rented a flat for a year through DJ Alexander. The flat was not clean when she moved in. The property agent who rented the property to my daughter apologised for the cleanliness and offered to get it cleaned, but my daughter and her friend said they’d do it themselves. I helped clean the flat, it was gross. There was a build up of fluff under the radiator in the main bathroom and when I removed it, there was a man’s old sock under all the fluff. The flat was in fairly poor repair, my husband repaired the toilet seat, which was loose and replaced the broken shower head and filthy shower curtain, at our own expense. My daughter and her friend have now moved out after a year and had the flat professionally cleaned. DJ Alexander are threatening to withhold their deposit. Firstly as they claimed many items were missing, because they were erroneously referring to an old inventory, which related to the flat when it was an Air B&B. Luckily my daughter had retained the correct inventory and was able to prove that DJ Alexander was using the wrong one. Most annoyingly they are trying to retain some of the deposit as they claim the flat wasn’t cleaned to their standard, which is an absolute joke considering the state it was in when they first rented it. The only parts that cannot be cleaned properly are the black mould on the grout in the bathroom and the edge ancient floor in the kitchen, both as a result of the age and lack of maintenance of the property. We will take DJ Alexander as far as we can to get the deposit back, to the small claims court if necessary. Renting from DJ Alexander has not been a good experience and we would not recommend them. Ironically we have just bought a flat as a rental property in Edinburgh and we will be looking for letting agents, but we will not be using DJ Alexander. We also intend to treat our tenants with respect and not try and fleece them out of their deposits.

Braemore (or now merged with DJ Alexander) are extremely inefficient in carrying out maintenance issues. We've been without hot water for 3 weeks, and no one gives us any indication when the job will be completed. There's been no delay from the contractor's side, it's the DJ. Truly disappointing.
