TrustpilotI chose DJ Alexander because they were local and, judging by the number of their “For Sale” boards around, I thought must have good experience of the market.
I found their website was designed to give major prominence to the house being sold rather than advertising themselves. From my initial phone call, to them to getting the house on the market was a slick and efficient process. The brochure was excellent, particularly the photography. I got a large number of bookings for viewing from the first day, all dealt with by the firm, and I was notified of these, and the feedback. I received an early note of interest and I was advised by DJ Alexander on a suitable negotiated price for me to take it off the market, with a very satisfactory result. The three way communication with them and the lawyer, by email right up to settlement was very satisfactory. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Horrendous. Worst agency I have ever dealt with. Difficult to get hold of via phone. Complex online system for reporting issues. Non responsive or very poor and negligent response to urgent issues. Long winded and obstructive processes for resolving issues. “Urgent” matters (heating, plumbing, boiler issues) have consistently taken up to 4 months to be addressed. I have now put in an online request for what is classed as a “non urgent” matter (where I have simply requested permission for one of the provided mattresses to be moved into storage in the garage/ loft so that I can use my own, as I have suffered severe back pain due to the provided mattress being old and of poor quality), and I am dreading the wait that it will take before someone from the agency takes 5 minutes to contact the owner to inform them of my request!

She genuinely cares and anytime there has been an issue or a request she has dealt with it promptly and always provides updates. Never once felt like I’ve had to chase her for anything or that I’ve waited days and days for an update - she communicates consistently and I always know what is going on. . She is also lovely in person and incredibly professional and clearly passionate about what she does. 10 stars from me.

GoogleAvoid. Not sure where to start. Rented Cauldhame, a rather neglected house, via a video viewing as Jill Pirie (branch manager apparently) could not be bothered to wait 20 minutes due to a breakdown I had on the way to view. Video carefully avoided the disrepair across the entire property. Every wall was marked, carpet covered in stains and smell of pets abundant throughout! Place was filthy. Inventory clerk stated in the inventory that the condition of the house, including cleanliness, was "excellent". I spent 4 evenings taking photos and documenting what the clerk should have. I stayed at the property for only 2 months and was glad to get away. They were asking £1,400 per month in August and I offered £1,450 as apparently there were 3 other offers based on the video. I seriously doubt this. Place worth about £1,200 max in my opinion. Stonehouse charged me £220 for cleaning, unbelievable given the state of the place when I moved in. Deposit registered was £300 even though I paid £500 deposit. Mistakes made throughout. It is clear Stonehouse Lettings, and indeed Jill Pirie personally, do not care about tenants, or landlords for that matter. I got the impression the landlord had no idea of the state of his house as managed by Stonehouse. Avoid this lettings company at all costs, it's not worth it.

GoogleShould be zero stars... Update: Prospective tenants just be aware when you inevitably have to report a maintenance issue they'll send someone out to evaluate the issue but will take no reasonable action to rectify an issue. We have damp and black mould in our property due to the poor condition of the windows. They sent someone out to appraise the issue, and they informed us they would recommend that the windows be replaced. After a week or so of radio silence, we log into their maintenance system to see they have "resolved and closed" the maintenance request. Useless can't even handle simple bank transfers. I've been in my flat for over 2 years, the rent is payed the same day every month by standing order no issues with rent since I moved in. Suddenly they can't find my payment this month, but the bank has confirmed they've been payed. Avoid if possible but that's pretty hard in Edinburgh nowadays. It would be comical if it wasn't so frustrating.
