GoogleI'm not sure how they survive with such bad customer service. First of all the viewing agent doesn't show up and when i call them they just apologize stating the keys couldnt be arranged and book me for another slot. Fine, I can let it go. Few minutes later I get a confirmation text for some property viewing in Edinburgh for which i call them again and they simply apologize again saying they'll correct the address and send a confirmation. Never got the correct confirmation.

GoogleGave my notice to quit to one of the members of staff and was then emailed the next day asking for my notice to quit from a different member of staff. Clearly can’t organise between themselves. Once I had my notice to quit accepted they then arranged flat viewings without contacting me. I was asleep when I was awoken by one of their members of staff trying to enter the flat. Fortunately I had the bolt across the door so they couldn’t get in. Even after I told the member of staff I had not been informed he still expected me to let them in. Had I not been home then they would have have been committing a criminal offence under the housing act by gaining access to my flat without giving notice and having authorisation. Service was great from Lee Hardy when moving in but was utter shambolic when it came time to leave. I wish I had read these reviews before using D.J. Alexander

GooglePathetic Letting Agency. Reported a maintenance issue, and seemed no one was getting back to me. When they finally contacted me, they said they would reach out to the landlord. After asking me, on three different occasions if they could pass my details onto the landlord, we finally made progress a month later. Now after leaving, the check out report is pathetic claiming ‘professional cleaning’ needs to be carried out for the slightest things, example, a single hair in the sink. Will never rent through D.J. Alexander again.

Catherine ensured the whole process ran seamlessly in a proactive manner and kept in regular contact to ensure I was aware of what was going on. Tremendous service - thank you!

GoogleI got an excellent service from DJ Alexander, all the staffs are very friendly and professional. A special thanks to Diane Harte as she has been there throughout the whole process and is always readily available to answer questions and make sure the whole move in process was straightforward and stress free. I would like to thank her for her service and would highly recommend to anyone.

GoogleDo not rent from DJ Alexander, I have had a very poor experience. Throughout the three years of renting a property in Glasgow I received very poor communication from the estate agents. And when leaving the property in a clean state, my deposit was withheld for cleaning fees. Parsley does not recommend.

It sold very quickly and I was particularly impressed with their agent Catherine Bruce who showed excellent knowledge of the market, was very efficient, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. GoogleI received amazing service from Catherine Bruce at DJ Alexander, who went over and above to help me out with an incredibly tricky situation with some nightmare tenants who were moving out of my property. I live in London and my property is in Glasgow and Catherine couldn’t have been any more supportive and understanding of my situation. I will always recommend this agency to anyone going forward. GoogleRented a flat through DJ Alexander and was such a simple stress-free experience due to their help. All members of staff we spoke to helped us and went above and beyond to make sure everything was okay for us. Any help we have needed after moving in has been sorted within a day or two. Definitely would recommend renting from them, a stress-free experience with professional members of staff always ready to help.

GoogleAbsolutely appalling! If I could give it a negative 5 I absolutely would! Ever since we decided to let with DJ Alexander, everything from there-on out has been absolute chaos! They rented out our parking bay which we are still contractually paying upwards of £200 per month for, have declined multiple maintenance requests to which now has caused an infestation of black mould to be found from previous tenants declined maintenance requests. Not only that, but the leaking from the washing machine, kitchen sink and dishwasher has caused an abundance of weak spots throughout the kitchen to be found, which in turn will most likely require the entire kitchen floor to be torn up as more than likely there will also be an infestation of mould underneath. Having been locked out of our flat more than twice, due to a faulty lock, upon hoping to show prospective tenants around the place, a member of the agency found himself confronting the faulty lock himself and then proceeded to get angry with us for tempering with his viewing. After multiple attempts and the snapping of a key, he then calls in a maintenance request and leaves us to wait with the prospective tenants until the lock smith shows up. After getting in touch with a few others, we have found that we are not the only ones who have had issues like this and that multiple landlords regret signing with DJ Alexander to rent out their homes. After much struggle we have decided that it be best to never rent with them in future and I would advise you all to keep this in mind the next time you are looking to rent/rent out your own homes.

GoogleI had the opportunity to use DJ Alexander in October 2018. The service I received was absolutely excellent. The staff were exceptional in their jobs. A specific note about Donna Baird, who was extremely professional, very helpful and always available to manage problems. I also liaised with Diane Harte and Catherine. They were all excellent and I would highly recommend their service.

GoogleRecently moved house into a property with D.J Alexander. Have to say , David Sullivan was excellent the property was a good size but in a state of disrepair. We told David we would like to take the property if it was redecorated - he liaised with the land lord to organise this, and even wrote it into our lease that we would not have to take the property if required work was not completed. We are very happy with the property and David was great.

GoogleHad a stress free experience with everyone i have dealt with at DJ Alexander. I dealt primarily with David Sullivan and he was great at dealing with any questions i had. After i moved into my house i realised there was a problem with the oven and the maintenance team were on it straight away. Great company to deal with and very professional throughout.

GoogleThis company is a disgrace! They have no idea how to treat their clients or how to manage property. The first tenants we had tore wall mounted shelves off the wall leaving visible destruction, removed items from our property, left broken furniture, broke a brand new bed, all things that were missed by the wonderful letting agent. We were assured the inventory was fool proof - even the slightest mark or change could be identified! This then led to our next tenant being left without heating and a balcony door that didn't close due to the previous tenants breaking it but again not picked up by DJ Alexander. It's perfectly normal to leave a door open when it is pouring with rain and you are doing a check out. No need to check the gas or boiler are functioning - not our job apparently. I ended up having to fly to Glasgow to sort out the mess and appease our new tenant. There were and have been multiple other blunders since. They are hopeless at communication with each other and their clients. You never know who to contact as there are too many people involved including people form their Edinburgh office and you get hassled by multiple people about the same thing. They don't have a clue what their policies are and information is often contradictory. Or if they don't want to respond they just ignore your correspondence. They make it extremely difficult to use anyone but their expensive contractors and are totally uninterested in helping their clients. The latest update is their new office is often unmanned. For your own sanity do not use DJ Alexander.

GoogleMiss Diane Harte is an exceptional agent and Property Manager. Diane was punctual for the meetings and was helpful with all our questions and concerns before moving in. During the transition, Diane kept me up to date with any progress and any documents I need to provide. She connected me to the right people for certain matters such as paying the deposit and was very helpful through the process. On the day we moved in, Diane was there and helped us finally settle in and provided an inventory and important contact numbers for various DJ Alexander branches. I highly recommend Miss Diane Harte, she is informative, helpful and a very kind person.

GoogleI have rented homes in the past with agencies but DJ Alexander is different to other agencies. The end to end process is very smooth and especially the digitial experience in contract signing and smooth handling by everyone of the staff is really amazing. A special mention about Diane Harte here, the prompt response and ease provided to a new comer to Glasgow from London is really appreciated. I expect the services to remain the same and keep up the good work that you have been doing collectively.

Djalexander never stop letting us down, I strongly recommend anyone out there to not rent with them! They were carrying out refurbishment job at our rented flat, saying that the job supposed to be finished by today and flat cleaned in order for us to enter it, instead at today some of the floor is not been covered, there are holes everywhere and cleaning has not be done! I would never think that an agent could be more arrogant than them, whenever you email them, someone different will ring you, they don’t like email possibly because they don’t like to leave any written record of their disservice.Such a disgrace!

We are currently renting from them, as they took over the rental of our property last November. Since then, we never had any repairs done, we have a child and they still didn’t provide a fire alarm working. They are trying to get us out of our flat although we have been there for over two years, claiming they need repairs...We are now in an Airbnb which is only paid until the 18th of April and they are not even saying where we will be going after that!? And we have a child!! Shameful!
Marianna, I was surprised to read this email based on the conversation and subsequent email I sent on Friday detailing the situation and offer of further support.As you are aware there has been a significant leak and damage created to your property and the property below. This has resulted in you and your family being placed in temporary accommodation. This accommodation has been booked until the 18th April but can very much be reviewed now we have a clearer understanding of the situation. Went to views 3 bedroom flat and I seemed to know more about the property than the guy showing us the house! Asked if the property has a HMO liscence and was assured that it does, even got taken through the process of how to add someone to the lease. Over the weekend we were making our mind up and that's where the frustration began. Have had to chase Sean for updates on the property, then found out there's a problem and I've had to chase him for any update which took days to get him to tell me anything! Turns out there's no HMO liscence and I haven't heard anything since Tuesday 11th December and oh the property isn't listed anymore! What the heck? Was hoping for better service that this- highly disappointed with the lack of information and that whatever info I was given was not fully accurate.

They want you to be a working professional, yet can only arrange viewing from Monday to Friday 10am-5pm...We were told to phone up a few days before so not to be disappointed with the flats being taken, we got time off work and phoned 5 days prior only to be told no appointments were available for any property for almost two weeks...I can't get past looking at their properties on a website, I'd have more chance of winning the lottery and buying a house than managing to view a property with them!
Dear Dave. We’re incredibly sorry to hear of your understandable frustration. We absolutely recognise how hard it is to secure rental properties in Edinburgh, especially in the popular locations and in the common price brackets. We try our utmost to be fair and operate a strict ‘1st come 1st served’ policy with all prospective tenants but we know this inevitably sees numerous people missing out. Sometimes enquiry numbers for popular properties do exceed our ability to field them which is a positive sign for the City of Edinburgh but a huge cause of anxiety for anyone eager to find a nice place to live here. We truly know how upsetting it is when we have to inform people that they have missed out or that there is a huge long queue ahead of them. It’s an almost daily task and our staff find it most difficult too. USE ANYONE ELSE BUT THESE SCAM ARTISTS. It took DJ Alexander less than a year to force us to find a new place to live. Since day 1, we never dealt with the same agent twice; we kept being passed on to different young, clueless agents who would give us the wrong information. If we asked to speak to someone by name we always got "He/she is on vacation/not in the office." The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing! They broke our contract by ignoring our repeated maintenance requests. Most notably, they refused to send someone to fix our broken heaters in early January, whilst our elderly parents were visiting! One handyman told us DJ Alexander asked him to make sure repairs were done as cheaply as possible. Absolutely awful service! We moved after 8 months due to their negligence. If you have to use them, be sure to go over their initial inventory with a fine-tooth comb, because they will ignore glaring maintenance problems and then report them in their check-out inventory so you have to pay for the fixes.

We started renting from DJ's in July 2018. From the beginning there were red flags - moved in and the inventory wasn't completed correctly - some significant damage overlooked. We had to continually chase for this to be amended. Then the washing machine AND the dishwasher stopped working - reported and took them 6 weeks to send a contractor out. 6 weeks without a washing machine when we are both nurses who wear uniforms which we need to wash is unacceptable. Then the curtain pole fell down! This was the final straw, contacted a manager in Edinburgh office who had the audacity to consider accusing us of tenant damage and alluded to the fact that we would be charged for this despite only using the CURTAIN rail for curtains...! Have contacted who I think is the head of customer services but will not stop complaining until I am completely satisfied with the outcome. These people do not appear to have any empathy or consideration of you once you are in the property - only interested in your rent and taking your money in any way possible. Do not recommend.

Avoid this letting agent. Terrible experience renting a property through them. They only seem to care about taking commission from the landlord and their own fees, rather than being a company that will respond to queries. Their flat inventory was a joke, full of inaccuracies and untruths. The standard of cleaning in the flat was not acceptable when we moved in and then they had the audacity to say the flat was not clean enough when we moved out. Please avoid this letting agent. I will never go near them again for either letting or buying a property! Shambolic company with little disregard for anyone, except to line their own pockets!!!
