What a stunning and super smart development! Looks amazing with so many great eco ideas that make it better for our climate and create a peaceful and natural feeling neighbourhood. Thanks to Charlie and Nina for talking us through how it’s been designed and being constructed. I’m attaching a photo for Nina for her Glasgow connection!
Hi Doug, thank you for your great feedback about your visit to the Climate Innovation District, we will let Charlie and Nina know. Have a lovely day.

We’ve been considering a move to Citu for years now and we’re so glad we finally did it. We love our new home and the CID community. Nina and Andy from Citu have been incredible. Nina’s been on hand throughout the sale process and Andy has helped us get settled at the CID.
Welcome to the Climate Innovation District! We're glad to hear you are loving your new home, we will pass on your kind feedback to Nina. Have a lovely day.

Expensive mistake?
Like many other purchasors, we have many defects with our home. Citu have been made aware of the problems, but either don't reply or take months to do nothing. It's such a shame as the idea of the Climate Innovation District is a great one, but Citu themselves have somehow turned it into a disaster of leaky roofs, wobbly cladding, inadequate security, failing gates, thefts and planning contraventions. Here's their reply of 2nd July:"Sorry that you have felt the need to express your feedback with us here. We would welcome the opportunity to resolve your situation by contacting our Customer Service team at xxxx as we are unable to identify who you are. Sincerely, The Citu Team."Paraphrasing - "we're not sorry about the problems, just sorry you're complaining about them."It's disingeneous at best and probably quite dishonest to suggest you've not had the opportunity to resolve the many issues residents are experiencing as they've been raised with you many, many times both directly with your representative AB and via the residents committee.A better reply would be to :1, accept that there are many long-standing problems at CID, 2. concede that you have over the past few years done a very sub-par job at resolving them3. Publicly commit to fixing them4. Seek public confirmation that you have indeed done so5. Demonstrated how you have put in place process to ensure a better quality of workmanship, more honest feedback and were able to demonstrate you were acting with integrity rather than just coming on here and snarking at people with legitimate, serious unnresovled problems. As things stand, it's a shame that residents are resorting to legal action to address the many serious problems in design and how you built these houses.
Sorry that you have felt the need to express your feedback with us here. We would welcome the opportunity to resolve your situation by contacting our Customer Service team at residents@citu.co.uk. as we are unable to identify who you are. Sincerely, The Citu Team.

Overall a very positive experience and felt well supported in purchase of our new home right from the sales team (with thanks to Danielle and Nina) to the aftercare (Andy) to the team developing the site (Claude). Like with any innovative development, there are a few small issues to iron out, but we are enjoying being part of something new and exciting.
Hi Luke, thank you for your comment, we will pass on the message to the wider team. Have a good day!

Wonderful example of an innovative sustainable neighborhood. At time of visit there are 230 homes built of 1000.

I was out for city walk with my pal Dave when we stumbled across Citu . We were looking around just being nosey when Sharan invited us to look at the show house where we met Nina . What a fabulous development the timber frames are made a stones throw away from the properties both women very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the development and a pleasure to chat with. I have lived in Leeds all of my 65 years and didn’t know the development existed I was blown away by the design and landscaping in this quiet backwater of Leeds . I am sure the properties will sell easily it’s well worth a trip down . Good luck with your sales ladies all the best Kevin

We have recently had viewings at the Climate Innovation District and Citu's new development at Kirkstall. Thank you Nina for such enjoyable and informative viewings at both sites. Nina took time to show us different options and was enthusiastic about both the ethos of Citu and the community that is growing in the district. In a world where climate change will have such an impact on the way we live, it is heartening to find somewhere that will allow people to live more sustainably. And finally as a former lecturer in horticulture, I have to mention the amazing planting that is going on. By itself it will increase biodiversity and encourage wildlife. Very well done to Claude for his work outside. Everywhere will be abuzz with bees and butterflies.
Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you had a great experience with Nina. We will make sure to pass on the message, have a lovely day!

This morning I walked past and heard one of their builders cat calling one of my neighbours. Not the first time I’ve heard this from them and last time the guy got pretty mouthy when he was rightly ignored. Harassing women on the street is exactly that, harassment. Hire better people and don’t allow a work culture where his two mates were laughing along. If I did this in the workplace I’d be fired and probably taken to court. Disgusting.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have zero tolerance for these behaviours which defy all of our values as individuals and as a business. We would be grateful if you could provide more detail as to the location, date and approximate time of the incident so that we can investigate further and try to identify those involved. If at all possible, we would also appreciate knowing who was targeted so that we can reach out to them to apologise. Please contact jonathanm@citu.co.uk.

So we visited Citu Leeds, in truth because we were nosey and wanted to learn more about these eco homes.. We were genuinely blown away by the development. We found it incredibly refreshing and unique in its approach, certainly for the UK. It has a real community feel about it, why? Because it is a community! Communal gardens and leasehold agreements. Built along the lines of the Passivhaus philosophy...highly insulated, incorporating solar and air source heating. Not a radiator in sight and very comfortable. For me the joy was that these buildings were honest and true to their materials, you will not find mock tudor here or recon stone and breeze block. A modern interpretation of terraced/back to backs and a post modern feel to the apartments. Both the hard and soft landscaping is to be commended and best of all ...the spaces between the houses weren't littered with cars blocking access and sat dominating views from the front doors...they are doomed to be parked in the underground facility. I loved details like the corten mail boxes and pedestrian foot bridge linking the sites across the River Aire, literally a stones throw from the Royal Armouries. Acess to Leeds is fast and easy..by foot and bike! Ideal for folk working in the city. Bills!! They will be waay smaller than most could possibly imagine for a similar sized trad property, clean living and pub / brewery oferring xlnt pale ale to boot. Whats not to like??. Citu deserve to be applauded for their efforts, blazing a trail that other developers ought to sit up and follow...this is the way fwd 👍🏻
Hi Karlo, thank you very much for your kind words about the Climate Innovation and we're glad that you enjoyed your time exploring the development. We hope to have you back soon, have a lovely rest of your day.

Incompetent or disengenious - I'd encourage people to avoid Citu. We ended up not buying a place at their new development in Kirkstall (called Stall) so i can't comment on build quality etc. In 2022 we registered our interest with Citu regarding Stall. Several months later after recieving numerous emails each pushing back dates and at times even offering contradictory statements I contacted their sales team. We were then told we could go see a model home and make a reservation. During our discussion we were told the Stall houses would be roughly £415/20k. When I suggested the final price would probably be higher I was told it wouldn't be because they had locked in the production costs and the factory was on site in central Leeds. Skip forward to early autumn 2023 and we were told the actual price would be £460k plus £15k for a car parking spot. In December 2023 we finally asked for our deposit back and were told it would be processed in 28 days. When it got to over 40 days and nothing had been recieved I enquired what had happened and basically discovered that our deposit refund had never been processed. Shortly after that they did finally process our refund. So overall, as I said at the start my experience of Citu has either been one of an incompetent or disengenious company. Clearly noone that works there means badly but that does not mean that what we were told and what happened were not repeatedly different.
Sorry that you have felt the need to express your feedback with us here. We have been in correspondence with you regarding the points raised with the aim of resolving these with you. We will continue to listen and act accordingly upon any further feedback you share with us. Sincerely, The Citu Team.

Defects, time wasting and terrible customer service
In our experience, dealing with the customer facing side of Citu has been a very difficult journey characterised by poor workmanship, terrible communication, and a lack of quality control. We foolishly opted for the premium finish for our house (£13,000 above the basic pack that was available including £3,000 for hardwood flooring in bedrooms instead of carpet). We moved into Solar Avenue in July 2020. In January 2024 we believe we have the following remaining defects and snags:• Damage to cladding at the front of the house• Unfinished remedial cladding works on the side of the house with the potential for more damage as the public decking goes under the bottom of the cladding on our house • Damage to some Accoya frames around windows• Rat access under cladding at the back • Concrete splashes on window• Front door that does not seal properly • Small gap in floor between floor plate and floor on ground level after both were re-placed• 4 windows that need replacing (one scratched on both sides; 3 where scratches were removed but the windows now have a warp due to the size or depths of the scratches)• small sections of damage to the floor throughout the house where glue was removed following replacement and cosmetic fixes • no actual boost switch on hot water cylinder (this was not on our 7 day or 12 months snagging list but should have been picked up when it was finally commissioned)• poor quality tiling, grouting and sealant in top bathroom including poor finish of some remedial work such as large grout stains on some tiles • Some architraves need replacing due to poor filling of gaps at the bottom• Banister on all levels was partially sanded but not finished and sealed. We agreed with Citu we’d let them fix a wobble instead, it still wobbles• Poorly finished steps including gaps, splitting and a nail through one step• Poorly finished kick-board in the kitchen• Cheaper finish of kitchen cupboards than what we paid for• Cobbled together kitchen surface that should be one continuous piece (the hob also has a fault we cannot argue this is a defect that citu is responsible for)• Juliet balcony does not always airlock • Coffin door, rust on opening mechanism• Issues with decking with planks moving apart (one cracked), lack of protective fleecing and inappropriate feet to hold up the structure of the decking• Noisy flooring in parts where floor moves• Beading on Juliet balcony raised and sharp in one part• Front garden, hole where soil drains away and bark needs replacing following the section being dug up several years agoOur last communication from Citu regarding defects was in November 2023 when we had to have yet another meeting about clarifying defects on our long list with yet another new person in charge. We have had no correspondence since. Andy and Anne

Had a great experience buying with Citu, almost nothing gone wrong with my flat after the first year and anything that did need rectifying has been done so promptly. Buying a home isn't usually a nice experience but Citu make it as easy as it can be, and the development looks great. Special thank you to Meg who has constantly been there to offer help settling in even though the process has been incredibly straightforward for me.
We're so pleased to hear that you had a good experience purchasing your home and that you've been enjoying living in Kelham. We will pass on the message to Meg and her team. Have a good rest of your day.

We’d just like to thank the entire sales & customer team for an amazing first home buying experience! We absolutely love our apartment, there’s truly nothing else like it in Leeds. Danielle, along with the solicitors & mortgage broker she recommended have made the entire process effortless for us, we haven’t lifted a finger and we feel extremely looked after! & Andy did a perfect job of ensuring we had a smooth move in day! We couldn’t have asked for more & we’re so impressed with the quality of our apartment, it’s extremely cozy! Jack & Charlie

I first wandered around the Citu development in 2020 as it was time for me to sell the family home and relocate. I had read about what Citu was doing, hence my interest to see a company trying to do something innovative at scale that has the potential to be a game changer. I moved into my Citu home at the end of November 2023. I am absolutely delighted with my new home and impressed at every level with the responsiveness of Citu in responding and dealing with the inevitable issues that arise. A shout out for: Danielle in sales who intelligently guided me through the whole process from my initial interest to moving in, highly responsive, and a huge asset in terms of listening and understanding the needs of her clients. Post sales Andy and Jake who take time to understand and deal with any issues/concerns after you have moved in. The specialist technical staff who have come into my home to resolve snagging issues have been quite exceptional in their personal approach and consideration shown. To potential buyers out there, I went through a period of doubt due to some poor reviews I had read. So I am delighted to say that I could not be more impressed with how the company operates with both honesty and integrity at every level. It is obvious to me that Citu is a company that cares, a bit of a rarity in this industry. So thanks Citu for taking the risks, investing in your staff and doing something out of the ordinary. I am delighted to be a part of it.
Hi Jill, thank you for leaving this review, it was a pleasure to read and we're so pleased that you are loving your new home and life at the Climate Innovation District. We will make sure your lovely comments are passed on to the wider team.
