The absolute worst customer service I have ever come across. Months and months we’ve had an issue of the middle floor bathroom lights not turning on and had 3 separate visits to the flat to look into the issue including the most recent one today (taking into consideration that it took 2 months for the first visit to take place). Flatmate has had to shower in the dark and the management does not seem to care and keeps pushing on the issue despite countless calls and emails. This is an issue we expected resolved in May. We are in September and it doesn’t look like this will be done by the end of the year. Disgraceful.

We have been looking for a property to retire to and were very interested in the Passivhaus standards used by Citu. Sharan showed us the Kirkstall site which we found to be too hemmed in for us. So she encouraged us to view a property at the South Leeds site. We were very tempted but have postponed our decision for a while. We need to consider the amount of storage and garden size available. Sharan has been so friendly and helpful- a great member of their team. She has booked in to call us again in a few months time

Just starting my search for a new home in Leeds City Centre, and thought I would have a look at the new apartments being built at the Citu site in the city, and I was not disappointed. The whole site itself is an abyss of useable green spaces, unlike anything else in Leeds. I was greeted by two friendly members of the Citu team at the show home. They were very informative of the concept that Citu are creating down there. All of the properties on site are built to passive house standards making them extremely energy efficient. Not only this, the design of the apartments are somewhat unique. It seems to me that Citu are literally building the future of housing right here in Leeds City Centre. When I am in a position to buy a property, I’ll be back in touch with Citu!!

After recently visiting the Climate Innovation District, I have nothing but positive things to share. With its emphasis on environmentally conscious living, this district offers a vibrant place for a wide cohort of individuals, encouraging a forward-thinking community, where green technology and sustainable design are at the forefront. I've been a resident in a Citu home for 6 years. I love my apartment, but I’m being driven out by spiralling service charges and a complete lack of care from Citu for its residents. They market themselves as community-focused and sustainable. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Our homes share a biomass system that regularly breaks down on the coldest days of the year, leaving 30+ properties without heating or hot water. Despite clear evidence that Citu installed the system incorrectly, the fault has never been rectified. Meanwhile, residents are left to foot the cost. Our bills remain sky-high during outages, with no reimbursement or accountability. To add insult to injury, this year alone we’ve seen a £7,000 increase just for insurance. No breakdown, no explanation, just a demand to pay. What Citu sells is a dream of sustainable, connected living. What they deliver is stress, silence, and spiralling costs. They show no regard for the very communities they claim to nurture. Until recently, many of us were advocates. Now, we’re just trying to warn others what you will face. Avoid buying a Citu home. You deserve better.

The work that Citu is doing to push building methods forward and tackle the climate crisis is so important. We emailed to book a viewing, and the staff were prompt and helpful, and Sharan, who showed us around the properties, was warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond for us and we really appreciated it. Unfortunately, the homes are way out of our price range for something of a reasonable size, so that would be my one piece of feedback - that I wish doing the right thing for the climate didn't come with a luxury price tag. Hopefully we'll get there eventually; prices might come down when building sustainably and in a low-impact way becomes the norm! The larger homes do look gorgeous, to be fair, but it does price out a lot of younger people who could potentially support their onsite primary school and who will generally have lots of vigor and excitement for the cause and community. Overall, a nice experience, and they seem like a great company, but we left a little disappointed at the lack of affordability.

I have recently been supported by Citu in moving towards purchasing a property at their Leeds Stall site in Kirkstall. I was welcomed by Pete and Jane with the kind of hospitality and greeting so important to a neighbourhood. After such a warm first impression, I met with Sharan, who went through viewings with me in detail, and encouraged me in my property goals. Sharan was able to set up financial advice with advisor Coe, which helped to identify what I need to do and where I need to be to make a Citu home a reality as soon as I possibly can. The sites at Leeds City and Kirkstall are so impressive. I am drawn to living somewhere that does not have a road and cars parked immediately outside the front door. Stall has beautiful landscaping and is sheltered by trees and the adjacent waterways. I am a regular commuter by the waterways, cycling, running and walking via the towing path to then connect with road and rail as part of any journey planning I do. This kind of infrastructure to me has to be the future in reducing traffic everywhere and reprioritising how we travel, similarly to Holland. There are so many old mill sites on these waterways, I hope to see even more Citus with the Passive Haus technology alongside or in place of these in the future. And to live somewhere like this in the not so distant future. For now, Armley will stay the place for me <3 Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing more about your work and seeing even more Citus everywhere!

I stumbled upon the Citu development by accident whilst out walking with friends. As chartered building surveyor and advocate of modern methods of construction and sustainable living I was delighted to be allowed the opportunity to look around the show home. Sharan was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the scheme and the methods of construction utilised, and she made us feel incredibly welcome. I’ve been living in a Citu house for just over 3 years now and it’s been a mixed bag. I love the style, location, and convenience and the transformation of the area has been impressive to watch. Unfortunately, I’ve also had a number of snagging issues and the after sales support has been, at times, pretty poor. There’s a tile coming away from the wall and a crack in the shower tray that I would suggest are a result of settlement and/or installation issues (see photos) that Citu should be putting right, but they have deemed them maintenance issues and not their problem. Despite escalating this complaint in November, it wasn’t until after chasing them in December, February, and April that the customer service manager responded (and again refused to help). Meanwhile, I’ve now had leaks in both bathrooms, one from a toilet and one from a sink. Whilst investigating the leak from the toilet, I’ve discovered various bits of rubbish left behind the plasterboard, including an old banana skin (again, see photos). There were other issues, including some wildly out of tolerance window frames, that have been rectified but my overall impression of the quality of the workmanship is distinctly average.
